The atmosphere is definitely loud, but it has a great, lively energy that makes for a fun night out. One of the best parts about this brewery is that they distill their own spirits, so you have plenty of great options even if you aren't in the mood for beer. They don't offer traditional flights, but you can ask for two half-pours (about 5 oz each) to try a couple of different things. Here is what we tried: Out of This World: This mixed drink tasted like an upscale mai tai. It was beautifully cloudy and made with real passion fruit puree. Delicious! Coffee Pot & Kettle Stout: Absolute creamy goodness. This was my personal favorite, though I usually lean toward stouts anyway. Fort Point IPA (with Citra): My husband is the big IPA lover, and I usually attempt a taste with a lot of apprehension since I don't care for super hoppy beers. However, this one was surprisingly good! It felt more like a fruity, juicy hazy IPA. The listed pine notes were very subtle and gave it a really nice, balanced finish.

I would expect the outdoor space would come in handy once the weather warms up. Conveniently located right off of Seaport Blvd. surrounded by some other good food and dessert options. Lots of parks in the area, including Fan Pier Park, which offers some spectaculay views of the Boston Skyline...particularly after dark. Metered Street Parking was actually manageable, especially in the later post 6-pm midweek hours in the Fort Hill Square Area. Meters are in effect through 8pm with a 2-hour maximum, so if you arrive after 6pm and feed the meter until 8pm, you are all set for the night! The South Station (Red) T Station is also nearby. Both options are a short walk to Fan Pier Park. There are also lots of garages available in the immediate area as well.

Came in around 8:30 and grabbed a nice outdoor seat. Super nice young lady started our journey with taking or beverage then appetizer order. Now this is a quality egg roll and HUGE and you were issued two of these monster rolls cut in half for a total of four man sized shareable delights.. Check the photos they don't lie they were amazing. Ok now onto main fixings so I ordered the steak tips accompanied by salad and French fries.. Note these are the hottest fries I've ever had and maintained a lava like heat through my meal. Not sure if it was just high quality fries or a design flaw but they were crunchy and flavorful but the heat kept me from eating them all... So I moved onto my steak tips. In Boston when dining forget steak and move to Steak Tips cause they rule. Soft and chewy mini mounds of flesh is a New England speciality and I partake immediately into masticating these flavor bombs till the last bite. Murray's tips were a tad different than I was accustomed to cause these were marinated in a bbq sauce. Downeast Cider House is located in East Boston, an area of Boston that I have never been before…read more But I had discovered Downeast Cider at The Big E (the state fair in Springfield, MA). Downeast Cider makes a special hard cider flavor every year for the state fair and this year's is the Big E Cream Puff. Last year they made the cider donut, which was very popular and so they brought it back again this year, but as a seasonal fall flavor. One employee told me that she didn't even know the flavor for the state fair until a few weeks before hand because it just takes a good deal of effort to create the right flavored cider for the state fair. I really loved the Big E Cream Puff cider so much that the next day after the state fair, we ended up visiting Downeast Cider's tap room (which is dog friendly and you are also allowed to bring your own food. Please note that Downeast Cider does not serve food and well you shouldn't drink on an empty stomach). My husband and I came on a Saturday afternoon, around 1:15 pm (we took the train so I am not sure about how the parking situation is like but I did see some street parking within a reasonable walking distance). We were greeted at the entrance and given a token. The tap room does not do full pours and only do flights (sad because I really wanted a full glass of that Big E Cream Puff). After looking over the list of drinks available, we ended up getting: For my Flight: Cream Puff, Cider Donut, Pumpkin Blend, Blackberry Pie. The cream puff is what brought us here and it really did taste like a liquid form of a cream puff. You could taste the cream and the pâte à choux (or the choux pastry that houses the cream/ whipped cream filling). I loved both the Cider Donut and Pumpkin Blend but wasn't a fan of the Blackberry Pie, but my husband did. For my Husband's: Honey Crisp, Apple Pie, Imperial Mango, Straw Rhubarb- My husband liked all of the flavors but his favorite was the Imperial Mango. I really liked the apple pie, very nice and sweet, honestly tasted just like a liquid form of an apple pie. I wasn't really a fan of the other flavors. ------------------------------ (Total= For 2 Flights, $29.96) After we finished our flights, we were invited to do a small tasting of a new cider that this cidery is working on. So we were led upstairs to try an IPA Imperial Mango. It had more alcohol than the Imperial Mango. We filled out a brief questionnaire to provide our feedback based on smell, taste, color, etc. I didn't really like it and my husband thought it was okay but preferred the Imperia Mango that he had earlier from his flight. The employee that was giving us the tasting told us that they generally do these tastings (for feedback on new flavors they are creating) on weekends in case you are wondering if you can try a new potential flavor on your next visit. Also the employee helping us told us that it can be pretty challenging to create flavors that taste just as good as the food item they are trying to use. She told me that with the Cream Puff, it took a lot of time to really get the flavors to taste the way it did, as I had told her that was my favorite flavor and I loved how smooth it was. Overall, I enjoyed our visit and so glad we came out to visit Downeast Cider's tap room and would come again if I was visiting Boston.
