Very disappointing experience buying a used vehicle…read more I purchased a used Toyota from West Houston Hyundai and paid the full $29,800 in cash. Before completing the purchase, I was promised that the dealership would take the vehicle to Toyota to complete an open safety recall, then bring it back and have it ready for me. This promise was also written on the "WE OWE" form as "Fix Recall." Unfortunately, the dealership did not fulfill that promise. I ended up having to take the vehicle to a Toyota dealership myself to have the recall addressed. I was also promised that the vehicle would be properly cleaned/detail-detailed and that some visible scratches would be touched up before delivery. That was not done either. The delivery process was also frustrating. I had already paid in full and purchased insurance because I was told I could pick up the vehicle promptly, but I ended up waiting until around 7:30 PM the following day before being told the vehicle was ready. What made the experience even more confusing was being asked to sign a "Borrowed Vehicle Agreement" even though I had already purchased and completely paid for the vehicle. I understand that a Toyota recall may ultimately need to be performed by a Toyota dealership. My issue is that this was not what I was promised before I purchased the vehicle. If the dealership could not perform or arrange the recall as promised, that should have been communicated before I completed the purchase. I hope management takes this feedback seriously. Customers should receive the services and commitments promised to them, regardless of whether the vehicle being sold is a Hyundai or another brand.

I visit this location often when I am in the Katy area. The bank is typically not packed and am quickly assisted by a bank teller or Personal Banker. As soon as you walk in you are greeted by a bank coordinator that helps guide you in the right direction which is a nice touch. I was supposed to make an appointment at the San Antonio location. I also bought an "Appearance Protection plan" because it was supposed to protect the visual appeal of the car. However, two days after buying the car, we learned that they GLUED the bumper on. Yes, glued. I called about the bumper and took the car into Auto Nation San Antonio, and waited for about two hours as they supposedly repaired the bumper. Turns out, they did not do the repair. So I'm not sure why they had the car for two hours. In addition, I learned that the protection plan I bought was useless because the car had to be newer than 7 years in order for it to be applicable. (The car is a 2017 bought in 2025.) Because of these issues, I requested my money back for the Appearance Protection plan after learning that I would never be able to use it and they refused. I filed a complaint with the FTC, BBB, DMV, and the AG. TX DMV got back in touch with me and agreed that what they did was fraudulent.(Unfortunately it took them a few months to complete their investigation) Whilst attempting to handle this situation, I have learned that there are a plethora of other similar complaints against Auto Nation. I wish I had done more research beforehand. If you are brave and decide to buy from any Auto Nation, I would strongly urge you to have them complete all repairs then and there BEFORE PAYING ANYTHING and not waste your money buying any of their extra plans. And definitely inspect the ENTIRE car, NOT just the obvious possible problematic issues.
