Overrun with hipsters on occasion, but most of the staff are friendly, the drinks are superb and the food is actually pretty damn good as well. read more

One of Austin's best kept secrets is the very talented and creative young chef, Ben Mauldin who runs the kitchen. The new menu includes cauliflower gnocchi, goat pizza, golden beet risotto, and grilled cantaloupe salad. Chef Mauldin takes advantage of the freshest local ingredients to tweak the dishes offered. His short rib is the in all of Texas. Chef is also available to help pair the best couture cocktail to compliment his amazing meal. I've eaten all over the world but will always crave the offerings at Drink Well.Don't leave Austin without trying Drink Well! read more

Wish there were 10 stars! Amazing chef offering a unique yet classic menu. The gnocchi is the best ever. Ask the chef to help with drink pairing. Chef is quite young but has an old soul when it comes to creating food. The grilled cantaloupe will be what we come back for. Love this place! A trip for authentic Austin starts and ends at Drink Well. read more

Neighborhood fancy cocktails. Great spot for an Old Fashioned. I had some sort of fancy cocktail with absinthe in it once, and I had gnarly absinthe burps all night afterward. Not really their fault, but you might want to consider this when there's some whipped egg white absinthe/gin/cherry/upside-down thing on special when you visit. read more

I wish this place was larger ... Or had an outside because the music that was played whenever I went this past weekend and the cocktails made me never want to leave. read more

Good people here. The bar staff know what they are doing, the drinks are excellent, occasionally on the costly side. (but not enough to ding a star) Actually even par for the course. But what really makes this place shine is the menu, and the unsung heroes behind the scenes preparing it. The food is ridiculous. They've changed a lot of the menu in the past couple months, so I don't know what happened, but the change has made a world of differences. The chef or chefs (or kitchen staff, as no chef can do it alone) has really stepped it up. I'd suggest what to order but that would be an insult to everything else on the menu. Might want to get there a bit early as there IS a reason people are there. Only concern: careful backing into traffic on Northloop(?), but as always in the area, people are cool as hell. UPDATE: Staff has changed. Very crowded now. Expensive and the kitchen staff has changed. Hard to get a drink. Still nice if it's your scene. Staff has rotated and owner is now begging for forgiveness after a friend of a friend was sexually harassed by the owner. Won't go back again ever. read more

This is the best bar in Austin, for my money. And the best true neighborhood bar by almost anyone's standards. There are happily a growing number of places in Austin that make proper cocktails, all of which I love to varying degrees. Drink.Well. holds its own with anyone in the drinks department. Are you interested in great hospitality along with those cocktails? There is nothing like truly feeling welcomed. Drink.Well. consistently provides that. The design is also solid. Wonderful place all around. read more

I love this place! The ambiance is cozy and casual but still vibrant. The food is delicious and well priced. The cocktails are delicious. read more

I can't even begin to describe how much I love this place. The vibe, the staff, the drinks, the food: It's all right on point -- relaxed and casual but very high quality. Becca is my absolute favorite bartender in town and makes one of the best rye old fashioneds I've ever tasted. Get yourself here! read more

Had an amazing experience. Was in town for business and staying a bit outside of downtown. Did a quick yelp search and found this place not far from where I was staying. It's in an unassuming location, but definitely worth seeking out. Their house cocktail list is original and well thought out. I had the diamond rug cocktail and I was extremely pleased, a truly original and tasty cocktail. I rounded out the night with a classic, the Bees Knees. It was made with a well suited local gin. A+ read more

I love all of the drinks here! They change the whole cocktail menu about every six months and everything is always great, I recommend the Sage Against the Machine. The beers are a good range and price. The twinkies also change every week or so and are very tasty. read more

Very chill and laid back bar. Staff is friendly, food is great and the cocktails are fantastic. I strongly recommend their Trinidad Sour.

Favorite cocktails in Austin and a short but good list of beers on tap. Nice selection of spirits, too (St. George, Leopold Bros, local stuff, etc...). Really enjoy brunch at drinkwell, both for the food/drink and the atmosphere. Staff is always great, even when they are slammed. Never ready to leave at 11:00. read more

My fiance and I love this place! Their specialty drinks are divine (but watch out, two and you're feeling really good!) and their food is spectacular. I was a little upset because my go-to item on the menu was the ZLT (zucchini, lettuce, tomato sandwich) but they revamped their menu and it's gone. I was almost ready to call it quits from disappointment but I was promised by one of the bartenders that the new ratatouille sandwich is way better than the ZLT. I'm not sure if it is way better but it sure was good and now I'm happy go back! Love the ambiance of this place, it is a hassle to get a table or seat at the bar sometimes but it's worth it! read more

This could have gotten a 4 or 5 stars based on atmosphere, food and of course drink. Nice assortment of all and I loved the neighborhood vibe. I will go back BUT I don't get the order and pick up at the bar?? It's not that I am unable and the week night evening that I was there was not so busy to make it impossible but why? As a former rstaurant manager and consummate customer and the fact that servers here are only paid $2.13 hr why cause a bottle neck at very small pick up spot and make a guest do the work? Hope ownership/management reconsider.... read more

I live in the neighborhood so I go here pretty often. Beer selection changes pretty frequently, which is good and the beer is cheap or maybe it seems that way because the cocktails are a bit expensive, but they're pretty good. I basically come here for the burger though. Again, a bit pricey at $12 but I've eaten the burger over 10 times so the price isn't too much of a deterrent I guess. Good spot to go for a beer and a burger read more

If you can find a place to park your car and park your butt it is a cool place with great drinks. You are definitely paying for a unique atmosphere. read more

The perfect combination of neighborhood pub and vintage cocktails without the attitude! It's charming and small (standing room only on busy nights) with a super friendly staff and outstanding cocktails. Try the Fear and Loathing! Excellent place for happy hour, I suspect they will be around for a while. read more

So sad to write this since drink.well has been my favorite place for a night out in town for several years, but I will not be returning after reading about the owner's behavior and the departure of the talented staff who were affected by his disgusting decisions. If you're still looking for a decent cocktail and or a guilt-free place to hang, at least Peché and Royal Jelly are still on the map! read more

Wow! Love this place. I want one!! Great high end, craft drink selection, exceptional small plate foods, off the beaten path.

It's a lot like Peche, but smaller, and with different food choices. The cocktails are expertly crafted, the prices are just a tad too high, but it's a nice neighborhood joint that is perfect if you come when it's not too crowded (which can be rare). Happy hour makes the drink prices a little more bearable, and the staff seems pretty knowledgeable. read more

Drink well or not so well. Not so well at all. The bartenders pack so much attitude you think they'd be strutting down the runway next to Naomi Campbell. We had a very rude, blonde bartender taking care of us. I feel bad saying this as she was clearly having a very bad day. I know this because I heard her very audibly complaining to her coworker. I could also tell because she was banging everything while she cleaned to close down the wells with two hours of service left for the night. She engaged other patrons in the debate of why we were having a poor experience which was extremely awkward. Listen, I can over look not being served a taste as you pour our bottle of wine, I mean, it was $36 and I guess that's expecting a lot. I can also over look having to ask for utensils, napkins and refilling out own wine glasses. What I can't overlook is the aggressively negative attitude we received without warrant. Still not sure what we did to upset you blonde bartender, but that ROUND OF APPLAUSE you and your colleagues gave us as we exited your restaurant was a true delight. Go to drink.well if you don't want good service and want to be SHAMED out of the restaurant for ever dreaming of it. read more

No service, weak drinks and pricey, small portions of food. Do I need to say more? You order at the bar, you pick up your food and drinks at the bar . You get no silver, napkins, plates or water. When we asked for plates and napkins with our tiny serving of $6 wings, we were told that we could get them in the cart at the back of the restaurant/pub. The "mixologists" were haughty and kept reminding us that we needed to get our own water, drinks etc. when we asked for any kind of service. It's a great location so I hope Drink well gets the message and offers service to people who are willing to pay $7-$8 for a weak drink. I will NEVER go back there. read more

I've read good things. I had high hopes. The tone for our experience was set with our very first interaction with the bartender, who was unbelievably and unacceptably rude when we ordered. Our food came, and it looked pretty. Upon closer inspection, though, my salad was compiled of 95% old, brown lettuce, and the bread with my friend's meal was unapologetically stale. Once we got past those disappointing aspects, the food was actually pretty good. The drinks were good, too. Unfortunately the bartender's un-called for rudeness has soured my impression of this place. read more

Interesting, potent cocktails. One of the best 3 bars in Austin at the moment for creative, well-made drinks.

We wouldn't return, service was awkward and the food wasn't great. We had the Reuben & Ratatouille. Also, the cocktails are TINY :(

This is a seriously, SERIOUSLY great place. And not just because I live three blocks away. The vibe is friendly and stylish and casual and cool. It's tiny, but you grab a table soon enough. Drinks are stellar. The first time I went, The Muppets Take Manhattan was playing behind the bar. YES. A little kid or two was enjoying dinner with his parents, also at the bar. The people are...how best to put it...normal. Just normal Austin folks. Out for a drink on a Saturday night. Feels all family and warm and shit. Like cool, but not but hipster-ass cool. You know? Cool. Go there. read more

The first time we went it was great, however, it appears that whomever is tending bar sets the mood and tonight it was not very good. The bartender threw the tab my way and then talked and joked with the other bartenders instead of saying "thank you" or "good night" or anything. I guess if you are over 40 your business is not welcome. No problem, lot's of other choices in Austin. read more

I would probably have liked it more if I was not the oldest person in the place by 15 years. Sliders were not bad. Ordered a second drink 5 minutes before 6 and they charged me full price. Might go back if it was close to home but it's not. read more

We have been here several times and we have not been disappointed once! The food and drinks are on point! The bartenders are very friendly and attentive. They always have great music playing and if you aren't into the music- they have really great old school movies playing on the tv. 100% recommend giving this place a try! read more

I have been going here every Wednesday pretty much since two hours after they opened, so I feel qualified to discuss their attributes. I still marvel at exactly how well done and well-managed this place is. Drink. Well. I love you. I love the food, the service and the staff. Their new spring menu is inspired and I have grown rather addicted to the handmade fish sticks. Yes, I know what you are thinking. Fish sticks? Really? But, try them and see. The sauces that accompany them are reason enough to place your order. I am still hung up on a cocktail they call The Carl. It will put hair in places that need hair and a few that don't. Bang Zoom, fly me on a bourbon-scented cloud to the moon, will ya? Feeling even more rowdy? Order Dead Man's Party or a Live and Let Die. Nothing says I hate my liver like 100 proof Old Granddad. These drinks are about as delicious and potent as any in the city. The new bar staff has taken a little getting used to, but I am warming to them and learning their secrets. if you are a Scotch fan, the place also has an enviable selection. Trying to get them to stock Aberlour 16. When that happens, life will be golden. WOW. Go. Drink. Enjoy. See you Wednesday! read more

Went here for a quick bite before seeing the bats under Congress. Had to drive through outer Austin neighborhoods and thought had the address wrong. But when we found it it was a small, intimate space with sound-proof glass and a fabulous menu. The drink selection was unique and extensive -- I ordered a local beer with homemade raspberry flavoring. The soul/southern food was fantastic -- their take on a Reuben, homemade chips, and fish sticks. If I go to Austin again I'll definitely go back there. And the service took less than 15 minutes, so we didn't have a problem seeing the bats reveal themselves. read more

Great ambience, although pretty small place. Their cocktails are a little overpriced and can go wrong. but they've got tasty food and beer specials. I should note appetizer dishes are tiny, albeit, full of flavor. read more

I would recommend Drink Well if you want to do what the name says- drink well. Quality over quantity is the key here as you pay the price to get a nice cocktail. I had a Campari Sprits that was the best I've ever had outside of it's birthplace (Italy). There aren't many tables or bar seats (I thought it would be bigger than it was) so either go after happy hour or be prepared to stand at one of the very Euro style high tables to set your drink on. Got the chocolate-blueberry twinkie to share and it was good but a little dry; would skip it next time. The food that I was eyeballing on other people's tables looked really good- especially those chips! Next time I will try and come during Happy Hour (6-8) and holler for 6 dollars with those specialty cocktails. They looked pretty interesting. Bartenders were nice, place had a good vibe but the music was a little loud to be considered an 'intimate' atmosphere. read more

Came here with high hopes for a mellow night out with a big group. The birthday girl had a birthday balloon which led the bartender to immediately assume that she was drunk. This was our first stop. He refused to serve us. I am so disappointed. I will not return. read more

I like this place. Cute, small and good drinks. Haven't tried the food here, but it looked good and I will definitely come back to try it!

Small, relaxing environment, nice people. A couple girlfriends and I stopped in for a drink. We were all buzzing after one cocktail, they make them right! I had the Earth, Wind and Fire Eagle, which is gin, creme de peche, chamomile infused honey, fresh lemon and Austin Beerworks Fire Eagle, absolutely amazing! Great looking menu, expect to pay a little more. read more

Five stars for the drinks, 3 stars for the food averages out to 4*. These guys consistently produce interesting cocktails. The food options have never caught up to the cocktails but can't fault them as this is 90% bar. Drink here, then go to Foreign and Domestic. read more

Loved the burger and enjoyed my uniquely crafted cocktail. Happy hour prices are reasonable. Parking is decent in the neighborhood. Nice ambience though a tad loud for my tastes, friendly service. Happily recommend and look forward to returning again soon. read more

This place has gone down hill since all the bartenders that made this place great are gone. The current staff have no customer service skills. Tonight was a clear example when I told them the drink that was made seemed a little off. They scoffed at me and asked if I've ever had that drink. I responded with yes and many times at many places. They begrudgingly made another drink (still not good) but I didn't think it's worth the effort to bring it up again. I've loved coming to this place for years and the drinks have always been great however these new bartenders really make me not want to come back. Yeah, Becca and Drew are not really new but far cry from Dennis and Ania. Really starting to become like one of those hipster bars where no one cares about the customer because they still have plenty of people coming in. Very disappointing and sad. There are just too many other places that are really worthy of the business and who actually care about their customers. read more
