BBQ Baker
Tim P.

Ate here with our son visiting Duluth on business. He was craving BBQ since he lives in Oregon. The really good was our waiter Jordon. He was friendly and provided the best service. The food was average at best. We started with drinks and the ordered a fried okra starter. It was a bit overcooked. I ordered the pork platter which was ok. My son ordered the big baked potato covered in pork, sauce, and cheese. He liked it but felt it needed more meat for the price. My wife loved smoked wings so that is what she went with. The wings were the smallest we have ever seen. They were so small they were overcooked. Loved the place in alley in downtown Duluth. Lot of atmosphere.

We came here for a pregame meal before the Georgia Tennessee game. Our waitress was very good and cordial. The ambiance here is bbq casual with nice tables and booths. There is a plethora of pics on the walls from southern culture and neon. There is a full bar with a good draft beer selection if you're into that. We started with fried green tomatoes: Too little sauce so we had to ask for more but they were good. Next, the ribs are great with plenty of meat and good sauce for dipping. Green beans cooked in the pork are tasty. The fries were overcooked but ok. Lastly, the nana pudding is fresh and a good finisher. Sweet tea is too sweet so opt for half and half. Conclusion: Dreamland is good "Q" for the $.

Peach Cobbler/ A La Mode

Underwhelmed was a word invented specifically for this dinner experience I think. I'll start off with - The staff here was great. They get full points, this review does not reflect on them at all. Went in on a Friday night to find this place completely empty, should have been the first sign - especially when every other place was packed. BUT like everyone else here who's reading this review, we were lured in by the smells. Not sure what those smells are from, but they weren't from what we ordered. I got a rib sandwich - which ended up being a boneless rip wrap thing? Not what I was expecting at all - but it just wasn't tasty? The slaw was okay, the meat - cold and tough, wasn't enjoyable. The fries were the best part honestly. My partner got the tips & chips - which the tips were also tough and cold, and so were the chips. They were also just flavorless. It wasn't enjoyable at all. The peach cobbler was okay but that's it. It's a shame since this is one of the only (southern) bbq resturants in the city; but they're severely lacking on what I'd expect from a bbq restaurant. It wasn't expensive - but it wasn't good. That's about all I got.

Listening to Norman Frank on his guitar and sax
St C.

Went to the Spring Arts Festival in Duluth to enjoy a nice spring day outside. We got hungry as we listened to Norman Frank in the plaza with some smooth guitar and saxophone covers. Decided to eat on the porch of Dreamland BBQ for some good food with live music. The food is the same Dreamland BBQ I got while visiting my brother at Auburn.

Rib plate, pretty good, sizable enough to share. Needs extra sauce.

For me, this is the best-tasting chain restaurant BBQ. The location is great - historic downtown Duluth.

Absolutely delicious and huge portions. Great service, relaxing atmosphere. I enjoyed watching the man flip the meat over the fire pit.

Out of all the food stalls in the food court, this one was the most popular when I went. It was pretty lively in the back corner, which is where this place is located. I thought the service was fine. The workers are there to get work done, not to perform outstanding customer service. I got the Crispy Pork on Rice! I love getting this meal at these Cantonese/Chinese places. I found the pork belly to be really tasty. There was a nice marinade over the skin and meat, plus the skin was pretty crispy even when some of the pieces got a little too moist inside the container. I thought there was a generous portion of the crispy pork in my meal. There were some mustard greens in the rice plate which added nice variation in taste. I also got a small cup of complementary soup on the side which I did not try but it did smell good. Overall, I think that my meal was pretty good. I would probably come back if I am ever inside the Great Wall Supermarket.

I have been to this location once before and remember that I had a good experience and really enjoy…read morethe food. This time, I brought my friend who has never had Korean bbq before for her to try. We went right when it opened so it was quiet. I told the server it was her first time and he was eager to explain everything to her. I don't think she was prepared at all what was about to grace our table He brought out a cart full of side dishes and start to explain what each one is along with the flavor profile. When he got to the scallion salad, she was just not loving it, but he told her to at least try and see what she thinks (don't knock it til you try it!) Then he said they're still getting the charcoal ready so it'll be a few more minutes and my friend's eyes just (like what?) So we start with trying a bite of all the sides. She enjoyed everything except the sliced onion salad. Surprisingly, she loved everything else, including the scallion salad! She's a texture eater, so I was weary of her trying the tofu, but she really enjoyed that too! So... the charcoal comes out, and she's just Then the server brings the grill with the cheesy corn, spicy bean sprout, and he poured in the eggs. Followed by the meats! Since she didn't really know what she likes, I made a few suggestions and the server suggests letting him bring us the most popular items first and we can work our way through the menu. What a great idea!! Started with brisket and ribeye and wow ... meats were fresh, paired with the sides, and the dipping sauces, it's just chef's kiss!! We then had bulgogi and pork belly and those were just bursting with flavor! The cheesy corn was good but burned too fast on the grill, the spicy bean sprouts are amazing, and the steam egg is my favorite . The only downside is that if you don't eat those sides that are cooking on the grill right away they'll turn dry and burned and it won't be as good. The cheesy corn also caused some splattering to our hands when we were cooking the meats. The server apologized for the oil splattering since he heard the squeal immediately soak up the oil from the cheesy corn so the splattering would stop. Overall, my friend gave it 10/10!!!

I'm notorious at overcooking meat, which is why I bought a Meater probe. This brisket was dry with just an essence of smoke, even though a smoke ring was noticeable. For us, it's a one and done, especially since we've had the best, at NakedQ in Phoenix and Pinkerton's in San Antonio. Their other menu items may be staggeringly good, since they are known for "home made", but I'd recommend passing on this particular meat. The service was great, as we were asked multiple times about the meal, and they even offered replacement brisket. Excellent customer service!
