Was invited to check Dream Dinners out by a friend, who hosted an evening get-together that featured discounts on orders and a tasting of their chicken chili and cookies (both were delicious). At the end of the evening there is a bit of peer pressure to order and I fell for it and ordered additional meals at regular price. The general flow is: 1. Select your dishes for the month (there's a minimum order but you can split an order with someone else) 2. Pick a date and time to pick up your dishes 3. They have stations set up for each dish and you basically follow easy directions to pop certain items into bags I took home a couple of the dishes and our family quickly polished them off - all of them were tasty but you definitely need side dishes (probably at least 2) to make a true meal. In our family of 2 adults and 3 young kids (7, 5, and 2 year old girls) we easily polish off 2 3-portions. They place is clean, well-organized, folks there are friendly, and the dishes are tasty. It's nice that they are easy to get to (off of the 210 freeway Hill exit, next to Zankou) and have their own private parking lot and for the right busy families I can definitely see the appeal. All these pros unfortunately don't outweigh their biggest con for us - that it's pretty pricey. Just thaw, cook and serve. Every month has a different menu and I am pleasantly surprised how EASY and TASTY the dishes are. I went and got a sample meal as a gift from their welcome sessions. And the wife and I are hooked. I won a Dream Dinners certificate at a silent auction 18 months ago, and I've gone every month ever since. I make my family's meals for a month in a little over an hour, and they taste so good! Sure, it's more expensive than making the food from scratch, but if having a meal ready to cook saves us from going out to dinner once or twice a month, then it's worth it. Dream Dinners has a chart of nutritional information, so I make sure to choose to make the healthiest dinners. My husband and kids really like how they taste, and we've eaten more seafood than we ever used to. I love the Pasadena location because the people are friendly and helpful. I've been going here since the Burbank location closed around 3 years ago. I usually order 36-40 servings and it costs me around $5 a serving. When I go in to make my meals it usually takes me about an hour. We love the meals. My favorite is the turkey burger on pretzel bun!!! The instructions are easy to follow and I often change my meals to include less salt and leave out non-preferred food items (yucky mushrooms and olives - ewww!). Susanna the manager is amazing! I always change my date or do the "made for me" service and she is super accommodating. Not the usual cooking class. You're basically making frozen gourmet dinners for yourself. The class lasts about 1hr - 1.5 hrs depending on how quick you prepare food. There is a minimum of 36 servings (about 6 dishes w/6 servings each). The initial cost looks steep (each dish is about 20-30 bucks) but when broken down per serving, you're really just paying about $4-$5 per serving which is not bad at all. The recipes are pretty simple to follow and the food itself is amazing once you actually cook it. I was a little skeptical about how the food would taste since its been frozen but I've tried 3 dishes so far and have yet to be disappointed. read more

Great place very friendly and accommodating staff. The meals are delicious my entire family loves them. I drive about 25 miles once a month to come here, it is worth the time and effort. It is so nice to know that my freezer is stocked with food that is ready to cook with easy directions to follow. My teens are more than willing to help prepare on those busy days. read more

Tried Dream Dinners once and got completely hooked! Talk about time efficiency. Just think, go in once a month for two hours and cook all your meals for once month. You just put them in your freezer and pull them out as you're ready to eat them. Great variety and my 6-year-old loves it. Wonderful for working moms, or moms period! The Pasadena staff is very friendly and helpful; I just can't say enough good things about them.
