Then we called Acosta & Sons - Marisol answered right away and she was beyond helpful/knowledgeable. She helped us find out more about our septic system (which no one knew existed for 20+ years) and explained everything to us in detail. We had our inspection today (led by Bernie) - Bernie was so helpful communicating with me and the listing agent to address any digging concerns, and he also answered all of our questions throughout the inspection. We called about what was clearly presenting as a drainage leak and explained the history. They told us they would "look for the leak," charged us $1,100 for less than two hours of work, and found nothing. Only afterward did they explain that the $1,100 was for looking for an active supply leak, NOT the drainage leak we'd called about. When I questioned why that distinction wasn't made clear beforehand, their response was essentially: "You signed the paperwork." They then wanted another $1,800 to smoke test the drainage system. Another licensed plumber performed that same test for $600, found multiple drainage leaks, and ultimately got our $11,000 repair job. Their justification for these diagnostic charges was that the money would go toward the eventual repair. But that's precisely my concern: their process would have had us nearly $3,000 committed to them before the drainage problem was even identified or we knew what they would charge to fix it. Maybe their eventual repair quote would have been competitive, maybe it wouldn't have been. We'll never know because we stopped there. But when one diagnostic alone was quoted at three times what another legitimate plumber charged, I wasn't willing to find out. The technician was nice and seemed competent. My issue is with the company's pricing and business practices. I would never use them again.

I've called multiple times and been sent to a full voicemail inbox. The ONE time someone answered they hung up immediately. After doing some more work on my own it turned out they were correct. I got the clog out and everything is working fine. I wanted to leave a positive review for two reasons...1) they took time to talk to me and guide me through some things on the phone, and 2) because they could have easily said nothing, taken my money and just come out and cleaned out my septic, but they didn't do that. It was an unexpected major expense, but the septic tanks (2 not 1) needed to be pumped as they hadn't been pumped in decades. At first, my dad and I were skeptical and thought it was a simple drain issue, but after they located and dug up the two septic tanks, we discovered that they were indeed full. The guys did also check the drain pipes (my dad insisted) but they were clear except the one drain pipe coming from the bathroom, which was corroded and had collapsed.
