Viktor was really welcoming and helpful, explaining how the commander event works and holding my purchases until we could find out if I would get any store credit (which I did!). The shop is lovely and the fact that they sell art supplies is super cool. Some guy named Chris who was playing EDH as well decided to be a jerk, though. I use they/them pronouns which, tbh, I don't tend to make a big deal out of. When one person at the table referred to me using the incorrect pronouns, I gently corrected, adding that I hadn't introduced myself with them so I wasn't upset. Chris took it upon himself to become hostile, declaring that "I don't use pronouns." (Anyone catch the irony? Lol) Supposedly he uses peoples' names for everything? He also told me he "won't play into that stuff," at which point I decided to leave. We continued to argue for a few minutes with him telling me he wasn't being hateful and that "I'm just being me" (again with the pronouns lol). Anyway, long story short, I called him dumb. This was, as he correctly pointed out, rude. I'm unapologetic about this; I wasn't the one that made a nonsense argument about pronouns. All I did was ask that people refer to me by my pronouns. That's all. Anyway. I got Viktor's attention so I could check out with my purposes and explained that I didn't feel comfortable staying because of the transphobia. Viktor said that such behavior was not tolerated and Chris was asked to leave. I still headed out because I was pretty upset, but I wanted to leave this review. I also wanted to add that the other folks at the table were not hostile, and that one of them actually approached me after to say some kind words.

There's items for every anime watcher or general card game player in my life, and the staff are very friendly! However, there is typically only one person manning the store, and a lot of times, they will start talking to another customer for an extended period of time, sometimes even showing Magic the Gathering cards and the like. Simply, you must be brave enough to engage the person at the rwgister at times. And it is certainly worth it for what you can get!

The store has a new great location and you will really feel welcome whenever you stop by. The owner is very personable and enjoys having discussion when the store is having a down-time or lull. For being a store targeting the nerd culture, the store is also kid-friendly and a treat for youngsters as long as they are halfway respectful. The prices are very reasonable/fair on most items and you won't feel your wallet hurting too bad (as may be the case at other retailers and events of this scene) and the inventory is consistently fresh. They also buy and do credit for items you bring in too! Highly recommend if you are in the Eugene, Oregon area and need to get your geek on! I'll start this off by saying I'm a Magic player, and this shop does cater more towards Pokémon but…read morethat is completely fine with me. The Magic selection they have is not insane, but what they do have does the job. There is another card shop which I will not name who is located basically across the street, but the operation they run there is shady. For instance, one of my favorite sets is $28 for a single booster at one place, and $4.50 at Untapped Market. I don't think you'd be surprised which shop id choose to support. The handful of times I have visited, a young lady was working and she was very friendly and it was nice to have some small talk after a long workday. I plan to continue to help support this new business and I hope if you are reading this, you do too. Enjoyed the cool music they had playing as we perused new and used books which filled every inch of this small-ish shop. They had every subject imaginable and many of the titles are facing outwards to give you a bit of a recommendation as you journey through the store in hopes finding the perfect book, or two, or ten. We got something new (popular bestseller) and something used (of the underground variety). Regardless of your preferred genre you will find something here to scratch your bibliophile itch. They also have a parking lot which makes getting in and out of the store easy and hassle free. Cant wait to come back the next time we're in town!
