Your run of the mill Americanized Chinese takeout restaurant. Can't say anything served here will impress anyone, but if you're craving your usual "bootleg" Chinese food (which happens to be my guilty pleasure), Dragons Garden isn't a bad option. It's got your typical dingy restaurant look, but the food taste pretty similar to other similar restaurants. On our 1st takeout trip here, we ordered shrimp with lobster sauce on fried rice and mixed vegetables on fried rice lunch specials. In addition, we also added an order of pan fried pork dumplings, a small egg drop soup and wonton soup. Unfortunately, it's an extra $1 for the addition of a soup with a lunch special, but, honestly, it adds up to about the same price as competitors. As for food, it is what it is. It's not terrible for this type of food, but not the best either. The sauce in the lunch specials were on the thick side, especially the shrimp with lobster sauce. I had never seen such thick lobster sauce before, so was a bit taken aback when I opened the tupperware. Flavor-wise it was OK though, so I figured I would survive the meal. The soups were unfortunately very watered down. I didn't get to try the pan fried dumplings, but my wife didn't like them mainly due to the thick skin, so if you're a fan of the thick skin pork dumplings, you'll probably enjoy them from here. One thing I will say is that the owners were super friendly, specifically the woman at the front. They're clearly mom and pop owned and local. Is this my favorite Americanized Chinese takeout restaurant? No. Does it mostly satisfy the craving if you live nearby? Yes. And that's all you need. read more

Have been ordering from here for over 4 years now, owners always courteous, prices have stayed pretty much the same, order is always accurate, portion size is decent or better. Occasionally I'm short 1 fortune cookie but other than that it's a solid place. They definitely made their business feel safe during Covid which is a big plus. read more

They charged me for an item and didn't include it in the bag. When I called the the next day. (They were already closed when I discovered the missing item) they said I should have called yesterday. Then the next thing they said they didn't charge me for it. I read back the receipt with that item on the it. Then they said wait til Tuesday and if the person who filled your bag remembers not putting your item in there then you can have what you paid for. I will never ever order from them again. read more

The Food is always good but the workers always make you feel like your annoying them. They hide the soda in the back (20oz only) and when you ask for one they give you a look like "why are you making me walk all the way to the back when we are busy?". I'm so surprised there are not more reviews for this place. It's always packed whenever I order from here. NOw what can I say, Chinese food is chinese food - greasy and fattening! This place though does not suck. The food is always really good and doesn't taste old and gross to me like other places may taste. We always get Boneless spare ribs which are so tasty with an egg roll, which does not pour oil out like other places. We also get the General TSO and the brocolli tastes nice and fresh even though it may very well be frozen. This is our go to place for chinese take out in our area. Give it try! read more

Every single time I call to order, the woman on the phone either tries to up sell me or argues that I'm not ordering enough to warrant delivery. Then I tell her I'll call someplace else and she takes my order. After reading other Yelp reviews it seems like their customers are united in the viewpoint that their customer service sucks. When people take time out of their day to criticize your business publicly, you should take it as a positive and make appropriate changes. View it as free advice on how to improve. It seems like Dragon Garden could be improved by either changing the attitude of the woman who answers the phone or changing the woman herself. Either way, until something is done to improve their rather dismal customer service they will continue to lose business to Wang Wang which is literally right across the street. Tried a bunch of Chinese places local and nothing was that great. Some of them even had 4 or 5 stars rated by other users. I just happen to be in Maywood and figured I give Dragon Garden a try. To my surprise it was one of the best in the Hackensack area. Their food is good, has a good taste and was fresh. I have ordered there a few times now and will be ordering again. Never go to this take out restaurant. My daughter was in there Friday night A young girl maybe 20 years old was taking the orders She accused my young high school aged daughter of being gay. My daughter is not gay and told the employee that. The employee continued to say rude and nasty things to my daughter and used the F work My daughter was very upset but because she paid before getting her order she stayed while this awful person continued to harass her. The next day I went to the restaurant and spoke with the owner who has known me as a patron of her restaurant for 15 years This women was of no help I believe this was actually sexual harassment and I called the police I am going to file a complaint about Dragon Garden and this employee. read more

This place is the worst. All experiences have been blahhhh. Tonight was the end of the road. I call to order on way home from work... Lady tells me to hang on, I do she comes back asks what I would like. I order General Tso Chicken Combo... She asks... Do you want sauce on the side. Now it was noisy in the background there and I've never heard this question ever asked before when ordering this from any place. So I said what did you say. Annoyed she repeats, do you want sauce in the side, I said no, you can put it on the chicken. As I am about to continue with the ther teams I want and that I want the chicken cooked extra crispy... Great chinese food. Sesame chicken is some of the best around. I don't dig the long sprout things in the pork fried rice but generally just pick around them. We order chicken and broccoli a lot and the only negative thing is sometimes there is too much sauce. We often swap the egg roll in the combos for spring rolls, which I really like. They are a decent size and have a lot of filling. This is definitely a take out place, no place to sit and stay. I have no desire to try another chinese restaurant in the area. read more

Hit or Miss! Usually the food is great there and I don't get an upset stomach but sometimes it is super greasy and doesn't taste the same as when i ordered it the last time.
