First of all, before I dive in regarding the food, service & inner decor, we have to start off with the outer appearance of this pagoda-replica building. It is hung with string after string after string after string of bright lights, neon-like. It can be seen from some distance away & is just remarkable! Like a slice of Asian Vegas in suburban Gresham. Must be seen at night, by day, it's pagoda-shape is cute, but forgettable. Arriving here after dark is fun, definitely a winter destination if you like to eat by or before 6pm. The entryway contains a f7ootbridge you cross & allows you to toss coins into the water moat below, teeming with Asian coy fish. A bubblegum-style dispenser stands nearby & for price of a quarter, you cam fill you palm of your hand with pellet food to feed the coy fish. Fun activity with kids, or the grownups, while waiting to be seated. Upstairs level looks to be banquet-style seating in a loft - setting overlooking first floor. There is a sushi-prep & plated display area with bar seating . You can sit at sushi bar & have drinks from full liquor selection, while watching chef hand roll fresh-to-order sushi. At least three dining rooms located in different directions in this circular building. My companion & I sat in dining room to the right, seated in large oversized cushion-seated booth. It was somewhat busy on this weeknight, but plenty of staff on hand, most bilingual English & Chinese. The paper placemats on the table contained the always fun Chinese year named after an animal list. These are fun to read & compare with others. No music playing but still quiet despite busy Burnside located right outside window next to our table. Our server was a very polite & charismatic man, well-liked by customers, who bade farewells to him, calling out his name. Upon taking our order, he provided description of the foods we wete getting. He then, left us to eat in peace, checking up on us at the perfect time, a skill only one who has been in service industry long enough knows about. We hardly waited long for our food & the portions were almost staggeringly large! Needless to say, we needed all the to-go help we could. Our server removed all of our plates & informed us that instead of us dropping food everywhere, I couldn't believe the professional looking to-go bag he brought back. It was such an epic meal on a day that wasn't a holiday or anniversary, or a birthday! It was just the two of us trying the restaurant with the magical strands of light. All staff we encountered smiled & nodded at us both, the ladies bathroom was spotless & had no smell to it. Plenty of parking available, and last, but not least, the prices we're loving ! First off, let me start by saying the food at this place is a 5. It's one of those types of places where when you imagine the food to be a certain way and it's just as good, if not better. The reason I am only giving it 3 stars is because of the service. I was really hungry on this particular day and I almost left because of how long I waited for service. My BF and I walked up where there was a group of older women paying for their food at the register. There was a couple sitting down as if they were waiting (either for a table or to also pay). My BF and I waited patiently for someone to notice us and ask to be seated. Five minutes went by and I decided that it was going to take a while so I went to the bathroom. I came back out and my BF was with a hostess waiting to be seated. She sat us and gave us menus. We took about 5-10 minutes looking through and looking around trying to see if someone was going to bring water or even acknowledge that we were there. When I figured maybe they thought we were still looking in the menu, I made my BF close his menu and we put them down as if to say, "Yes, we are ready!" It took almost 15 minutes for someone to notice, even though at least four servers had walked by. There were even people bussing tables (it was busy but not that busy). Finally after what seemed to feel like forever, someone brought water and said our server would be with us. She came about 5 minutes later. Without over exaggerating, I would say we finally were able to place our order after 25 minutes of being there. Maybe that isn't that long but when you're pregnant and hungry, it is an eternity. The server was nice and decently helpful once we were actually noticed but for 10 minutes to go by without drink orders and another 15 for a server, it just seems kind of ridiculous to me. Like I said, it was busy but not THAT busy. I have served in several different environments- restaurant, bar, and catering and I give the benefit of a doubt in most cases. I just wasn't impressed with the service at all, especially for the sort of restaurant it was. If you're going to charge more than a normal Chinese restaurant, your service and ambiance need to be at higher standards. The food was good but it wasn't from the Gods or anything and the portions were just okay. Anyway, food was good but forgo the stay if you get hangry like me. I'll probably call in a takeout order next time. read more

But I am happy to report the newest owners have restored this place to its former glory as the Dragon Palace. And the portions here could fill a dragon. And it's super tasty. Probably the worst experience ever. Server argued with us about gluten free food. She then forgot to ask about if they had gluten free entrees available. Then she took forever to get the check corrected after bringing us food that incorrect and tasted horrible. If I could give them a negative rating I would. If you don't have a legitimate food allergy, then it's totally safe for you to go here. For starters - you've got to go in to this place just to look at what they've done. Especially if you were there before the remodel. I've not stepped in this place since the early 80s I do believe and never went back as it was dirty and dark. All the turkey was gobbled up and so we needed to just get out and get a meal and my curiosity about this place needed feeding as well. We headed into the lounge to eat as there were less people and I was just not in the mood to listen to crying children should there be any. Lucy was a great bartender/server. She came over quickly to our table to get our order. We are kind of picky and I really do not like greasy chinese food so we order less oil and less salt. We ordered shrimp lo mein and scallops with vegetables. I so wanted the shrimp/walnut dish but they were out of it? I guess they ran out of walnuts? At any rate the dishes came out with fresh veggies (not overcooked either) also. There seemed to be a lot of celery though on one of the dishes so it kind of took over the whole meal. Also, since we asked for low salt there did not seem to be any other spices so the dishes were a little boring. I'll just mention add extra spices next time we come in and maybe they might just let me get in the kitchen and cook it myself haha. read more

When ordering I missed the part were it says the Lunch Menu is only served Monday-Friday. Okay my bad, I was only skimming and saw that it was time sensitive, not day sensitive. It wouldn't be a big deal for me to pick something else, but the problem is I'm indecisive and slow and the waitress was really rude pressing me to order immediately. There was a vague gesture of giving me more time as she left for what I could only imagine to be less than a minute before coming back and asking again [it's not as if I timed it]. I ended up ordering something I really didn't want just to get it over with. As sensitive and anxiety prone as I am I started tearing up after she left. For all you normal people this is probably a mild inconvenience at worst, but it's the first time I've ever cried at a restaurant and it's an experience that will certainly stick with me. My food was okay, but I didn't eat much because I was so anxious I became nauseous. All of my friends that came with loved their food tremendously, so I can say that much as least. Probably the worst part, but I wasn't there for this part as I'd been so anxious the enter time I ate, I left immediately after paying. A little expensive especially since the food is meh. We were not told this is a soft opening. We knew they were new but it wasn't until we were leaving that we were told this is a soft opening and the cooks are still learning. Explained alot and made me even less happy to be paying a higher end of pricing for Chinese food. I think they should tell you up front so you can decide if you want to pay this much. We had general Tso chicken, pork fried rice and bbq pork lo mein. The chicken was way overcooked, the rice was bland and the lo mein had vegetables we didn't know about even though the waitress had to go ask what was in it. The hostess at the front counter mumbles horribly and can't answer direct questions. They have more combos but those aren't available yet while the cooks are learning. Delicious!!! First, let me just say that I've waited 3 years for this building of old Yun's Garden to be filled. I'm so glad there is a great Chinese restaurant now open in Gresham. Their decor and set up was BEAUTIFULLY done. Okay, now to the good stuff... Their staff and customer service was exceptional. Food... I had the lunch special with some sushi. I ordered the California roll. It was delicious and prepared perfectly on the plate. I also ordered the Kung Pao Chicken lunch special. It comes with a choice of soup when you dine-in, and I chose the egg flower. It was great!!! I've never had corn in mine before though, btw. Nice touch. Lunch special also comes with a fried egg roll and pork. Their Kung Pao was great. I'm iffy ordering it just any where, but they got a 5/5 in my book. The only constructive criticism I have, is their fried rice. It was good with soy sauce and mixed in with the Kung Pao... But definitely not a hit by itself. Not much egg, peas, etc... Mainly just brown rice. Above and beyond, they are awesome in my book. I will be back. And again, I'm so excited there is a great Chinese restaurant in Gresham! PS: They have a lounge as well. Friendly staff and decent food. I ordered the fried chicken wings and dumpling/noodle soup. The chicken wings were over fried and were just mediocre. The dumpling soup was pretty awesome. Lots of dumplings, noodles, vegetables, and even some pork. I added some sriracha for a little heat. The soup portion was so big I couldn't finish it all. Too bad because it was great. I sat at the bar for my food and chatted with the bartender. She was friendly and kept my glass full. Looking forward to a return trip next time I'm in Gresham. read more

I've never been to China so I feel like saying this place is "authentic" isn't an honest review but it's the word I think of when it comes to their decor! Lol The portions are HUGE and it's definitely a good price for what you are getting. My boyfriend and I are vegan so we were limited to what we could eat. I wouldn't recommend this place for a vegan if you like a lot of options but the dishes we made were decent! I took my family there and they loved everything. (They are not vegan) Our server was nice, but not attentive and I know that is important to people, so I feel like others might have given less stars. Prices aren't too high and they give pretty large portions for example the crab puffs are 6.25 but you get 12 of them and the sweet and sour dipping sauce. Then, when picking up the order, the girl at the counter was VERY attentive and service-oriented. Well trained. The food was different than your cheap American-Chinese. The 'normal dishes' were flavorful with a unique delicious flavoring. This place only opened up a few months ago, the inside decor is very nice and unique.
