ERMAGERD PIZZA. Yeah, so now that I said that.... This was a random last minute early lunch choice and dang... just....dang. So first of all the owner is super friendly with his customers. This dude obviously has a sense of humor and likes his job. I got a Gold Dragon and it was amazing. I went to Italy and I feel like a crust snob. It needs to be crunchy and chewy at the same time for me to really love it. Dragon Fire Pizza nailed it. (Yeah for you!) The pizza size is just enough to look like you can't eat it all, but then somehow you magically can. Boom! It's just gone. So needless to say, I ate the whole thing myself. It was hot, it was fresh, it was flavorful and it was pizza. Do I really need to say more? Like the owner said "What American doesn't like pizza" Just go. And don't plan to share.

I went to the Tuesday night farmer's market downtown Champaign and saw the Dragon Fire Pizza food truck. I heard about it and have seen my friends eat some of their pizza. So I decided to give it a try. They have seven specialty pizzas that already have toppings picked out. There is also the option of creating your own pizza. I ordered the Margherita pizza and a Red Dragon pizza. While I was waiting for the pizzas to come out of the oven, I asked the workers about how they make the pizzas and what was unique about them. They make the pizzas "neopoliton" style which refers to the way Italians make their pizza. The dough is hand-tossed and the pizza is baked in a ceramic oven. The workers were really friendly and helpful in choosing a pizza that I would like. We took the pizza home, which was about 15 minutes away. The pizza was still warm, but not as warm as it would have been when coming out of the oven. In my experience, I would take my pizza and eat it as soon as it was ready. Dragon Fire pizzas are not like regular American pizza's because the crust isn't seasoned and there isn't an overload of cheese. It is an acquired taste that I would recommend delving into.

    Classic dragon. Aka margherita pizza.

It was ok. I think maybe I had super high expectations... I'll definitely try it again. Lots of other people clearly love it and the staff was friendly. I had a classic dragon/margherita pizza. That's a go-to pizza for me, so I've had lots of others to compare it to. I know some people do red sauce like these guys did, but I prefer the olive oil/no sauce version. (That's how I had it in Italy, so to me that's how I always want it.) I just thought this kinda lacked flavor. There wasn't nearly enough basil for my tastes either.

Find this truck and order 2 pies. One for now and one for later. Best pizza in Champaign or Savoy. You're eating a fresh hot crispy pizza within 5 minutes of ordering. I took 2 to go as kind of a take and bake. He even left it little light so when I reheated it later, per his directions, it came out great.

One of my favorite food trucks in town. Pizza is fast and delicious. Great ingredients and friendly service. I always hit them up at Tryptich and the Farmers Market, but always use their locator during the week! You never know when they'll be nearby. I always go for the Dragon Fire with Ghost Pepper, because I love that next day burn.

I ordered garlic bread and a 14" meat lovers pizza to go. They do have some seating inside, more seating than I expected. Initially, the garlic bread was okay. It has a more buttery taste than the other ones I've had. After I reheated it on my pizza stone, it became very tasty and crispy. The garlic bread I give it is 4.5. It tastes great if you use a pizza stone. The pizza on the other hand, I was underwhelmed. I ate it when it was fresh as well as on the pizza stone. The crust is bland and tasteless. The sauce was great. The toppings were okay. I ordered this ultra thin, crispy, and extra sauce. Pizza is like 2.5-3. Overall experience is a 3. This is a one and done for me.

Walking in, I gravitated towards the sign of specials, and then was guided to a table. Along with complimentary bread, I was treated to the sight of an owner (Mama Brasi, as one customer called her) who was visibly engaged in the lives of the clientele, both with repeat customers carrying out as well as with a family dining in, and their little girl who was a fan of salads. A hot bowl of minestrone arrived and added to the warm feelings. But it was the eggplant involtini special that was the star. Cooked and seasoned well, a healthy supply of sauce (I could see some sauce fiends wanting more, but I was content), and enough to take home a bit for lunch the next day. Early November was a little chilly sitting by the door, so keep that in mind for colder months, as there's not much they can do about that.

I had a delicious Cobb salad and the best service by our server, Tony. He was so attentive, and friendly, and he even made wonderful meal recommendations for my friends that asked. However, when I asked for a water refill or a new plate, he got it. I would say average but not above average service. We ordered dragon fries, baked ziti, and supreme pizza with the caramelized crust. Overall this is like a 3. 3 for me is a one and done. I wanted to try a new pizza place but this was a disappointment. -dragon fries 5 - this was good. The sauce is tangy with some spice. It's not super spicy but this would go well on wings. -baked ziti 2 - I had a lot of pasta and this one was one of the worst. The noodles tasted a bit too rubbery, it should be softer. The sauce had no flavor. -supreme pizza 3 - maybe I should have gotten the tavern style because the supercharged pizza tasted doughy and kind of bland. I even reheated it on my pizza stone at home and it does taste better with a crispier crust. However, it was still mid.

In the ongoing saga of trying to find a restaurant that works for all three of us: my vegan wife,…read moreme (a very NOT vegan) and our picky 8-year old, tonight's episode took place at Fiammé in downtown Naperville. Its very hard to find spots that can accommodate our very particular palates, and even more hard to find good vegan options outside of the city. Thats why I was excited to find this lovely Italian restaurant. The parking lot is small but there's a good amount of sidestreet parking. The inside is warm, cozy and super clean (including the restrooms ). The hospitality stood out right away. The owners and wait staff were very welcoming, and our server was fantastic; honest (which I appreciate), knew the menu well, and once she realized our situation, gave us some wonderful direction on what to order. I wouldn't say that the menu is overwhelming, but I rarely go to a restaurant where it takes me that long to decide what I want. There are lots of interesting options, from braised short rib ravioli to baked ziti, and several tasty appetizers (highly recommend the calamari). But we had come for the PIZZA. My daughter got the kids cheese pizza. It was surprisingly bigger than we thought, and at a great price. The kid only ate half before she said, "I like it...this might be better than [insert famous Chicago pizza brand]." (you MUST KNOW that this is high praise from a 3rd grader). My wife ordered the "They Don't Have Beef With Me" vegan Detroit-style pizza, and I have to admit, it was very good. Somehow they pulled off a buttery (but not butter) crust with melty vegan cheese (but NOT cheese ). Absolutely nailed it. I would have eaten more of hers if I hadn't ordered the Butcher pizza from the wood-fired menu. It was OUTSTANDING. Great flavor, perfect texture. Easily one of thee best wood-fired pizzas I've ever had. We're not drinkers, but they do have a good wine list and some nice zero-proof options, including the Amber Apple and The Drip. We didn't make it to dessert, mostly because the portions are generous, so our bellies (and our to-go boxes) were full. We will definitely be back to try other menu options and for dessert. If your family or friend group includes picky palates or dietary restrictions (the pizzas can be made gluten-free as well), then run...don't walk...to Fiammé. 100/10 recommend.

The food was delicious - we started with the mozzarella sticks - SO GOOD. I ordered the vegetable wood fired pizza and it was good, my husband ordered the Detroit Style double pepperoni and it was also very yummy. The portion sizes are generous so we both ended up taking half of ours home. We are definitely coming back again, I want to try the Fiamme Special firewood pizza!
