In reviewing the menu and the online reviews, I knew I wanted to try their burger. I was dining alone, so I decided to sit at the bar. The service was great. They were friendly and super attentive. I ordered the Big John Burger with brisket, bacon BBQ sauce, and cheese on a toasted brioche bun. The burger comes with your choice of one side, so I had to try the mac & cheese. The mac & cheese was super rich and creamy. I did not have room for dessert, but I would definitely consider returning to try the Skillet Cookie, a warm chocolate chip cookie served in a mini skillet with cold vanilla ice cream. Yum... If you find yourself in Rome, Georgia, I would highly recommend you visit John Henry's Grill on Broad Street. Cheers

When I ordered the breakfast platter they gave me the wrong eggs. The meat was not cooked the way. It should've been the hashbrowns were undercooked. It was just not a good experience then you find out if you know people that work there you get waited on and checked on pretty regularly but then they bypass you and ask you nothing. so I stood at the register with an empty cup in hand and lid off and watched the people behind the counter. Check on the people at the counter change the coffee and check on people sitting near the counter while being ignored again. Will not go back. It's very sad because the restaurant seems very clean and everybody in there seems friendly.

If you look at my profile, finding a small town diner is one of my tihngs. I love getting a meal at a local spot. Don't do chain restaurants much. This one is a small diner. It fits the old 40s style, where the staff is in the middle, seats on the outside, counter service only. It is difficult getting around if someone is seated. That is how small it is. And, oh, by the way, they have been here since 1945, so most likely most of the stuff here is original. Almost everything is adorned with local ads. The menu has them on both covers, as well as along side the menu items. The coffee cup has them as well. As the staff is behind the counter and unencumbered, I think it would be hard to have really bad service here. Place was about half full, but the staff was on top of things. Food? It is basic diner food. I disagree with the negative reviews, but right down the middle makes sense. Everything is cooked to order. Biscuits and gravy were made with sausage gravy. The eggs were cooked a bit harder than I like, but not way overdone. Sausage nicely browned. Grits were done soft, but with just a bit of a bite. All in all, a no frills breakfast. While this was nothing to write home about, there is something nostalgic about grabbing a bite in a place that has been opened since 1945 and still has that historic vibe. We are losign this in America, as chains are taking over every place. Eat local y'all.
