You walk into a small waiting area to be seated, and then they take you to your table and. you enter this humongous dining space. It's so huge. I think it would comfortably seat around 200+ people. With that said, however, a circular table for four can get a little hard pushed for space with all of the dishes etc. They have a good extensive menu, attentive service and while a teeny bit overpriced, it's worth it overall. One thing I didn't LOVE was the fact there was barely a trace of alcohol in my Strawberry Daiquiri. The flavour was great, but if I got stopped by the police on the way home, I'd have been totally under the radar. The only other negative is that it was hard to watch the poor live fish in such small tanks. They can hardly move around and it looked kind of cruel. All of the positives are the ample parking, good service, great food and they finish the night by giving you a delicious little dark orange chocolate if you feel like something sweet. Would I recommend it here? I give it a resounding Yes!

Whilst they asked if we wanted anything extra, they did not bring it out, so it didn't feel entirely like an all you can eat. We also had to ask a couple of times to top up our tea. If you come for the yum cha, make sure you get the extra serves when they come around the first time!

We ordered the steamed chicken, pork in chilli oil and pan fried beef. We also got some greens cooked in chilli to accompany them. The dumplings were nice. My favourite were the pork, then the chicken and lastly the beef. You get chilli sauce, black vinegar and soy to accompany them. The greens come out long after we finished our dumplings which I didn't like. I had to ask after them and my preference is to eat dumplings and greens together. Overall we enjoyed it here and would come back to try more items from their a' la carte menu. We had their yum cha a while back and would probably come back to try this again also.

And excellent chinese restaurant featuring Shanghai cuisine, it was perfect for family dinners and birthday celebrations. A tip from me is to pre-order the pan fried buns as they get sold out quite quickly. Also not featured on the dinner menu but it's delicious and available is the Shanghaiese stir fried noodles. If you order the Peking duck, as them to make the soup for you using the duck. You won't regret it

They gave us only two menus for the four of us which was annoying. The soup came out first and the other three of us had to wait so much longer for our entrees to come out. They too came out staggered, and since the chicken ribs came out SO late, they were still eating them as their main meal came out. I hate that. Cutlery was practically thrown at us. No class or care. Didn't find any of the staff warm or friendly at all, sadly. The one redeeming feature is that the food is nice. Is it the best Chinese food I've ever eaten? No. But it would scratch an itch if you're craving it. Also, just pray that if you order the Sweet and Sour Chicken like I did, that it's not drowning in sauce, as the batter then goes soggy and the cutlery gets sticky and sauce ends up on the table. Sadly, I wouldn't return here. There was no warmth, atmosphere or anything inviting, and some dishes were dirty. Yes, the food is ok, and reasonably priced, but there are so many other places one could go to. Sorry, but just being honest.

To put this into perspective, next week we're travelling to asia to do just that. Anyhow, I digress. The point is we get through a lot of steamed (and fried) parcels of deliciousness. Ripples in Bentleigh (not the other Ripples which I'm lead to believe is less than fabulous) is rather tremendous. Take a look at the pictures I've uploaded and you'll see how fresh everything is. This is now amongst our new favourites in Melbourne. So why only four stars? Well... the debate at our table came to the conclusion that you can't give a place 5 stars when you've only been once. Surely at least a star should be reserved for consistency. Anyone can have a great experience once. It's really not my thing, but I'll also say this - Ripples is extremely child friendly.

Truly, TRULY Terrible…read more I booked two tables totalling 22 people for my birthday dinner. I asked several times leading up to the night if they could accommodate a large group of people, and they said yes. SERVICE - ATROCIOUS - almost non-existent staff, ridiculously slow to take orders and respond to requests - At times the staff were very unprofessional, completely ignoring requests and waving us away - We practically had to BEG for our drinks orders to be taken - I could see my guests were getting upset they didn't have drinks, glasses for their BYO wine, water or anything on the table, so I had to go up to the bar and repeatedly ask for water, glasses, menus, and for our orders to be taken. It was embarrassing and completely unprofessional -They didn't take our food orders for more than an HOUR after we sat down FOOD - I've had better chinese food at a food court. My prawns were overcooked and everyone commented that the rice was sometimes overcooked and sometimes undercooked. - All the food came out at different times - One of the waiters brought food, forgot to bring cutlery, and then left the food on the trolley next to us to go cold, while he went and retrieved cutlery from the kitchen THE END OF THE EVENING We were chatting and laughing, trying to make the best of the night, and all the staff started cleaning around us, moving tables and chairs and making us feel very unwelcome. When it was clear we weren't getting ready to leave, they promptly presented us with the bill, told us they wouldn't split it, and directed us to where the ATMs were located. THIS IS BY FAR THE WORST BIRTHDAY DINNER I'VE EVER HAD. The manager, who I know was among the staff that served us, should be ashamed of treating paying customers like we were treated. AVOID THIS RESTAURANT LIKE THE PLAGUE.
