Wow just wow, one of the best Chinese restaurants I've been to in years. And the service was amazing.

I know, I know, don't judge a book by its cover. I come here pretty often for Yum Cha and I usually enjoy my time here. They offer majority of your traditional dim sums and carts frequently pass by (this can depend on where you're sitting though). This place offers relatively good food, it's nothing extraordinary that you would remember- but its definitely enjoyable and satisfactory. I've been here for dinner too, but I find their Yum Cha to be better. It's not that their dinner is bad, it's just that it quite standard and average. In a suburb where one can find ample Chinese restaurants, average sometimes just isn't good enough. That said, if you have a large group- then this place could easily accommodate you. It has a large dining area with big round dining tables at the back. Overall I would suggest Imperial Kingdom only if it is local to you, I wouldn't go out of way to eat here- but if I'm in the area, I'm more than happy to.

Don't trust the one review! lol Anyway it is Mother's Day tomorrow and being Saturday as well most of the other Chinese restaurants were fully booked. We were surprised when we arrived to find no Chinese patrons and pizza on the menu and expected the worst. Why bother giving it a purely Chinese name if you serve pizzas and curry as well? Well the chefs are Chinese and that is something. Anyway the food isn't too bad as Chinese food in an Australian restaurant go. They were edible and the servings were generous. We didn't try any of the other types of food (Swedish pizza for example). The waitresses were courteous.

Ok let me explain...there is more to it than meets the eye. Great Eastern Hakka is run by an ethnic Chinese couple who hail from India! Chinese from India...yes yes! and they speak both Hindi and Chinese languages (don't believe me...go try it!). Anyway the owners moved from India and lived in Sweden for a while and now Melbourne is blessed.....so what's my point? Great Eastern Hakka is Chinese Indian food - its neither Chinese nor Indian....its something else!!! I am a great fan - love this place. And, they brought along Swedish Pizza with them that they serve at their restaurant. I love Swedish pizzas - yummmmm! I guarantee you will enjoy and have a great time. It's a little gem quietly tucked away.

One of the best Chinese restaurants in Glen Waverley, East Empress has long been one of my…read morefavourite places to grab takeaway from. I rarely eat in the restaurant itself because the takeaway menu is a bit cheaper, but when I do, I am always impressed with the immaculately set out tables, the service of the waiting staff, and the presentation of the food when it arrives. The prices are fairly high when you dine in, though. That isn't to say that it isn't worth it, because it really is. Most main dishes range from $20 to $35, but you're getting real quality for that price. For me, it's a bit of a treat, the same sort of thing that makes seeing a movie in Gold Class a special occasion. As I said, takeaway is a bit cheaper. My wife and I usually grab a beef with cashews, fried rice and a few dim sims, and it works out to be a bit under $25. They're pretty quick at getting the order ready, too. We usually drive up to the shop, phone the order in, and spend the next few minutes looking for a car park. By that time, it's ready to pick up and go. Totally recommend this place to anyone.

I'm a big fan of their banquets, it's a great way to get an impressive selection of food to fill you and satisfy your taste buds. I think that east empress stands out from other suburban Chinese restaurants, is the fact that it's a spacious layout with quite a modern feel. You're not just crammed into a little room that is cheap to run! There service has always been great when eating in and their prices are very reasonable for the serving sizes. They also do take out which is still kept to a great quality and is usual very quickly ready for pick up. I highly recommend it to everyone in the area.

Lucky…read moreYu has been around for years, and for years I have been a loyal customer, particularly fond of their chicken and sweet corn soup. The funny thing is, I'm not usually a fan of said soup. However one day I arrived home after picking up my Lucky Yu goodies only to discover my won ton soup was actually chicken and sweet corn. Oh the horror! Rather than drive back down, I ate the soup. That was three years ago and I have not looked back, my obsession with chicken and sweet corn extending out of Lucky Yu and into any chinese restaurant I go to. Lucky Yu still holds a special place in my heart though as they were my first.

The only reason that I stopped here was because I was on my way to a movie night at a mate's place, and we were all bringing our own takeaway. This place isn't going to make me drive the extra 10 minutes or so just to grab their food, but really, it isn't bad. In fact, it's pretty reasonable food at decent prices. I had beef in blackbean and fried rice, and I walked out of the shop with change from a twenty dollar note. So it isn't expensive for what it is. The serving sizes are pretty good, too. If I'd bought an entree, it would have been enough to feed two people comfortably, but I somehow managed to find my inner manliness to force myself to finish it. You don't leave food when you eat with your mates. It's a sign of weakness. Doubly so if the food is bad. The place itself was relatively neat, possibly a bit on the daggy side, but still acceptable. If I was doing a hard day's furniture shopping on Whitehorse Road, I'd be happy to eat there again.
