The Sharks Fin Inn at 50 Bourke street is the older of the 2 Sharks Fin restaurants. The food and cooking is excellent. The Green lip Abalone was very good. The steamed Parrot Fish was the best I have had in a long time. The flesh was soft, not mushy or stringy and the sauce perfect. Other very good dishes are pipis with vermicelli in XO sauce, stir fried fillet steak.

My family's favourite restaurant for a get together over some pretty tasty Chinese food and lots of jasmine tea, Shark Fin Inn is also a favourite of ours for Sunday afternoon yum cha. Pricing is reasonable and the selection is good, all the usual suspects will be present. Just remember to book a table because it gets mighty packed in here on a Sunday. The noise factor is high and the atmosphere bustling, which is all part of the fun of yum cha at a proper chinese restaurant. Shark Fin Inn totally rules.

Reasonably priced and a great selection of products. If you ever want to prepare a meal, there's great selection.. Market city coffee was fantastic, bought some cheeses, and picked up a borek pastry. Market is separated into different buildings. Seafood, deli and meats, and I didn't get to walk to the produce section. I stopped in at nine, but according to Google, it opens at six. In a shopper. Really great lively atmosphere with lots of people and the large downtown buildings in the backdrop of the market were beautiful! There was a great fruit and vegetable selection - I choose a few different fruit options to take back to my hotel later to enjoy. I LOVE mangosteen but it's hard to get fresh ones in the US so was super stoked to see those available! The indoor section with cheeses, meat and seafood was also super impressive! I snacked on some lobster and oysters then went outside and had some sugarcane juice and the BEST MUSSELS I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. Such a great day at this market!!

Food came quickly at the start but then they lost one of our later order submissions so we waited ages for the last batch. If you are on a time constraint (damn you, work!), I would advise to order as much as possible in one go. I must say, this is the first opportunity I've had in Australia to indulge in all you can eat salmon sashimi, so naturally I went nuts and binge ate my way through these beauties. A few of them didn't have the fat completely trimmed off, but overall they were pretty decent quality. I thought the prawn dumplings were hella good, they were freshly steamed and hot (nobody likes warm dumplings!) and on par with my fave yum cha restaurant. The scallops (which were on the 'specials' menu), were special indeed, prepared a bit differently to what I've seen before, and garnished with sliced chilli, definitely worth getting a plate of these. Their grilled eggplant was cooked in a sweet miso sauce (I think?), very soft and tasty. That rounds off my top 4. Dessert options consisted of either sweet red bean soup (not bad) or seasonal fruit. Order both, just coz you can! I was quite impressed with the wide selection of different types of Asian cuisine available. The dining experience was more like a banquet, as they offer a sit down table service and bring the food to you, which is not common for buffets but definitely should be, from a hygiene perspective. FYI they do have chopsticks, but you have to ask for them. Come prepared with a huge appetite, and you will enjoy it here!
