How lucky for me that simple convenience brought me to this excellent doctor! He immediately made me feel at ease (new docs always make me nervous). Like others have said, he had a genuine interest in helping improve my vision. He also gave some great advice about a program I can use to adjust my monitors to a warmer temperature. However, as others have cautioned, this was not a cheap visit. I have medical insurance, but no vision. For my new glasses (frames, lenses, and anti glare coating) I paid over $600. ($696 by the time I paid the $60 copay +$15 for the visual fields threshold test. Price aside, this has by far been my best experience with an optometrist!

The good: The exam was good…read more The Bad: The new glasses themselves were shockingly expensive, and the lenses are not as good as the 12 year old glasses they are meant to replace. I sent them back to be re-done because the first time they were like straight-up readers (not what I asked for). When they came back the second time they were slightly better but feel almost like progressives because they are still too "reader like" and the prime focus area is below-center. I don't know how to say "I want the best focus to be 4-6+ feet away" The Ugly: I doubt I'll ever wear these glasses and will stick to the beat-up,scratched-up ones that just work.

To preface: I have worn glasses for 17 years and contact lenses for 13 years…read more Hands down, this was the worst experience I have ever had at an optometrist's office. Here were the highlights (or lowlights if you will) of my experience: 1. On my first appointment I arrived on time and it was 45 minutes before I even saw Dr. Linda. I had the first appointment of the day and I had scheduled it that way intentionally so that I could minimize my time away from work. The technician who ran the initial tests and showed me to my room saw the doctor come in and commented, "She's late again". 2. I had both an eye examination and a contact fitting evaluation.. I was given a contact lens prescription and a trial pair with less power than mine because they did not have my high power lenses in stock (this is typical in my experience). I put in the lenses and immediately mentioned that they right lens did not fit well. In response, I was told that it sometimes takes up to 15 minutes for the contact lens to settle. I was then told that I could check out at the front desk. I looked at the doctor in surprise and asked, "Are you not going to look at the fit of my contact lenses?". I was told to try them out for a week and if they didn't work I could come back. 2A. Unsurprising, the right contact lens indeed did not work out. So I had to make another appointment and come in again. After the 2nd appointment, I asked if another trial pair would be ordered. I was told that they could order another pair and then was pressured into purchasing a year supply right then. I responded that I was not comfortable with buying a year supply before I had even tried my new lens after which a few more attempts were made to get me to purchase a year supply. 2B. I picked up my 2nd trial pair of lenses and when I got home, I discovered they were not the right prescription. I called and the woman who answered the phone first tried to convince me that they were correct (which they were not) and then agreed to ship the 3rd pair to my apartment. 3. I also ordered two pairs of lenses after my initial examination, one for glasses and one for sunglasses. After the time frame for their arrival had elapsed, I called the office and was told that they had arrived that day and I could come pick them up. 30 minutes later, they called me back and I was told that while adjusting my glasses, they had scratched one of the lenses past the point of being able to use it. They did apologize and told me they would expedite the order of the replacement lens and that it would arrive on Monday of the following week. I called on Tuesday of the following week when I had not heard from Optix. I was told that my lens was in. I responded that I would pick them up on Thursday when I was there for my follow up contact lens fitting from 2A. 3A. When I arrived on Thursday, I again booked the earliest appointment available (8:45). Dr. LInda walked into the front door of the office at 9:00 with shopping bags and gave me an unfazed greeting. I was shortly after led into a waiting room. I left the room and asked if I could get my glasses fitted (with the replacement lens and all) while I waited. I was then told that the lens had not arrived. Not only had they NOT been expedited but I was falsely told that they had arrived when I called. So it took me one more trip to be able to get everything that I had ordered. 4. When I first saw Dr. Linda, she suggested daily contact lenses. I mentioned at 3 times during the appointment that I was worried they were cost-prohibitive for the frequency in which I use my contact lenses. Despite this, I was told they were ordering a trial pair of dailies for me in my prescription. I asked what the price was compared to my monthly contacts and they were indeed more than I wanted to pay. When I expressed this and asked for a trial pair of my old lenses I was treated with contempt and the response "So you're NOT interested in daily contact lenses at all?". No... 5. I was charged for a special mapping of the eye. I have seen these services offered at other places when you fill out your paperwork but there was always an opt-in/opt-out option. Not at Optix. I said that I did not agree to this service and they referred me to the sheet I signed saying that I was responsible for anything that my insurance did not pay. I agreed with this to an extent, but pointed out that on my examination sheet (which was left on the table) the box saying 'Patient declined mapping' (or something to that effect) was not checked and was not even mentioned to me. After I said this the receptionist reached over and took the paper saying, "That's for office use, not patient use." However, in the end they agreed to not charge me for the mapping. I will never be returning to Optix EyeCare & Gallery or Dr. Linda Fain Hatton. It was absolutely the worst service I have received. If you value your time and your money, do not go here.

From the 1st phone call, I was treated by cheery, professional people. I was informed to wait in my car until phoned to come upstairs. This is normal & acceptable in these times. Upon my arrival, I was greeted by a staff of 3 smiling people. I was asked to wait in the entry while a woman took my temperature. The doctor & staff never stopped smiling! Dr. Weber did make a comment that I felt was not at all PC, but we got over it. He thought that because I had a Hispanic surname that I didn't speak English so he spoke to me in Spanish. When I told him that I don't speak Spanish, I speak English, he commented that my English is very good. I was born & bred right here in Dallas, my surname is my ex-hubby's, I told him. My Dad's roots are Scottish/Irish! When in doubt, please refrain from comments that trigger one to feel patronized. But, my dad would probably have made the same kind of blunder. Anyway, we did get past that... he escorted me to the exam room, asked me to be seated, asked me to describe any problems I'm having, did not rush me or pressure me, made lots of silly jokes, gave me a cute little paper to cover my eye (he must be a hit with kiddos) and assured me that they are very vigilant about their sanitation processes. When I seemed to change an answer to a previous question, he re-checked my vision to get the most exact data he could. Our visit lasted over an hour. He then escorted me to a kind woman who helped me pick out my frames. She picked out the perfect frames for me! The cashier who checked me out told me I have fantastic insurance, which made me happy! We all laughed and visited a minute before I left. When my glasses arrived. I was treated in the same manner, start to finish. I wish I had paid more attention to the woman's name who assisted me, she was very professional and yet very friendly at the same time. They informed me that my glasses came with these sun shades for outdoors, but since I need my glasses for reading the doc said, use them for reading on the beach! It will be a long year before I get to enjoy their company again, but I urge to check them out. It will be a nice experience. Customer service is almost always hit or miss, people can have 'off' days, but this group seem to be happy all the time.

I was welcomed by the office manager in a friendly "Texas" way! His assistant Christie was also professional and thorough. I got two pairs of glasses from The Eye Zone, both prescription, both super fashionable. I brought in a fabulous pair of vintage frames (from 1951), and they replaced the lenses with my prescription lenses. I absolutely love "the look" of the glasses with my prescription lenses. Thank you, Eye Zone. Whenever they needed an adjustment or a proper cleaning, they did that for me, with a smile. I am confused by the one-star ratings, as this has definitely NOT been my experience. I have recommended a number of friends to Dr. Weber and they were pleased as well. Give him a chance to treat your peepers!
