Been going to DR Pilates for a few months now and I really enjoy it. So much that I started attending with class pass and canceled that and got an unlimited membership. I love that there are classes every hour on the hour and there's always different options to challenge yourself. All the instructors I have had class with are all very knowledgeable and so sweet and caring and really do want you to leave class educated, and refreshed. Any questions you have they always answer. Not to mention all the staff there is super friendly. I feel like I leave with a new pair of socks every few visits. I love their after hour theme classes. Andrew really gives each of us the personal attention we need to push ourselves. He's so kind and encouraging but he also has this way of making you want to go for it. This is a really cute studio. That is very conveniently located. I paid for a drop in class to see what I thought. Turns out, your first class is free so they added this onto my account for later. I started with an intermediate class, which was perfect for me to get back into the Pilates. I was a little worried that I might be intimidated but I was not at all. The instructor was super friendly and welcoming. Her class was just the right pace and got me interested in adding Pilates to my workout regimen. I decided to get a package so I can continue taking classes. I highly recommend this studio for anyone interested in either trying Pilates for the first time or continuing their practice. read more

I've been taking classes at DR Pilates for over a year now, and it has become my favorite place to move, reset, and feel strong. The studio is always clean, welcoming, and well organized, and the classes are thoughtfully programmed. Every morning I see Shaakirah, who is always so attentive and genuinely welcoming. She greets us right at the front and sets such a positive tone to start the day. All of the front desk staff are kind, friendly, and make the studio feel warm and inviting from the moment you walk in. Ann is amazing. I regularly take her morning classes, and I always feel great throughout the entire day afterward, her positive energy is contagious. She is always happy and cheerful, and every class brings something new. She consistently helps me improve my posture, form, and overall technique while continuing to challenge me and help me advance. She truly inspires me. Nicole is fantastic. I genuinely love her classes and always look forward to them I just wish she were on the schedule more often. Her classes flow so nice and include a lot of unilateral work, which has helped me correct imbalances and improve overall symmetry. Her classes are challenging, effective, and always fun. Lily's classes are the most challenging I've taken. Every time I take one of her classes, especially Power Pilates, I think it's the hardest class I've done, until the next week when I take another one and think the same thing again. She pushes us in the best way, encourages progressive layering, and creates an environment where you truly feel yourself advancing with every class. I enjoy her classes so much. Stevie is where my Pilates journey began. I've taken all of her different class formats from foundations to advanced and every class is thoughtfully challenging. She does an incredible job of showing how even simple exercises can be layered and progressed, helping you understand how to continuously advance your practice. I started going to Dr Pilates a few weeks ago and I love it! I got a membership so I try to go a few times times a week if not more. I have tried a few different plates studios in the area and this one is the best for really any skill level and overall fun vibes !! All the instructors are very patient and knowledgeable! In my experience they have always asked for permission before helping adjust you with a move and ask if there are any injuries they would need to consider. I just left a mat/reformer class with Ann and she was so great! She kicked my butt lol. Marlee at the front even checked in to make sure everything on my reformer was ok. I joined the studio in August and just recently hit my 100th class. I never tried out Pilates before and wish I had. All the instructors have made it fun and productive, I'm very grateful for my improvement as I move into my 60s. CeCe, Irene, Merilee, Tuezday, and Jaymee are so supportive and encouraging. Marlie is so helpful at the front desk and keeps the studio flowing. It's a very welcoming place that feels friendly and inclusive of all ages and stages. I just wanted to throw some love out there to my girl Cece. I started Pilates to get a good workout but also for my mental health with such a stressful job. This girl always comes through with great music, upbeat positive attitude and is so relatable. Normally I stay to myself and zone out but I'm 9/10 dying laughing and in a better mood by the end of her class. She is very talented as an instructor but also adds so much more to the experience. My review is for the class I took and overall workout space of Dr. Pilates. The studio is easy to miss but is towards the corner of the shops. Their studio space offers around 8-9 reformers, in which you may or may not be facing someone during your workout. The instructor does ask if it is anyone's first time, however, I felt as if choosing one of the reformers in the back hindered my lesson and I relied on my friend for most of the session as it was my first time. I did have fun though and I liked the choice of music. It was a nice beginner class with a slow pace and I'm sure it varies on the instructor, but overall good first impression of Pilates. I'd definitely recommend their courses here as a good starter! read more

Used to love this place, but now they body shame?! An instructor completely body shamed someone in a class and told them to not do a specific move when the client repeatedly communicated that they can. Then at the end of the class asked if they're introducing movement into their life through pilates, but the instructor was shocked when she said she has a lot of movement and does many activities outside of pilates! This is an amazing new Pilates studio in La Mesa. I took a class with Maria and she was fabulous. She pushed me but always made sure I was moving safety. My legs were jello afterwards but so excited to take another class with her! Great work out! Also this studio is so clean! The hygiene is so appreciated. The front staff made sure all the reformers are cleaned after classes. Just know you wait outside and are let in/checked in 5mins before class. read more

My favorite Pilates studio! I go there at least once a week. The reformers are the newest version and so easy to use. They have all levels going on all day long. Most of the teachers have set schedules so if you really like someone in particular you can count on them being there. I love how clean and upgraded everything looks. Although it's downtown La Mesa, parking is super easy to find almost any day of the week. I highly recommend trying this spot out, you will not be disappointed. This review is based on my overall experience ! My sister invited me to Brenda's class on Tuesday, Oct 24, 2023. My sister, Joannie, apparently is a regular! I'm happy I went with her to this class because it was my first time on a custom reformer and my experience was fantastic. Further, Brenda, is an excellent instructor and I firmly believe she keeps a great eye on every athlete in her class. I think for me, she made it harder with some of the movements, which I had no problem with at all. Every good athlete knows how to adjust and I thought i did ok after this class he used I felt all little muscles engaged in every single movement. My experience was so great that I had to find a similar place in Pasadena. This studio is very clean throughout and I think visitors and beginners would have a wonderful experience here. read more

I want to respond to a review posted in August . The reviewer said an instructor shamed someone by telling the student not to do a particular move. These instructors are constantly looking out for safety of clients or looking to see if they need to modify an exercise . Most ask if anyone has an injury or a sore area at the beginning of class. One instructor's comment out of context should not reflect on the whole studio. Last week Ann saw I was struggling with balance and she came over and put her hands out for me to hold onto so I would not wobble. Cece did the same today when I was having a hard time with an exercise. So grateful; I need to improve my balance, but not fall while doing that! I think all of them meet the students where we are. I have to say again; this studio's schedule is filled with the best instructors I have experienced in my 4 years of doing Pilates at 5 different studios.
