Ask the Community - Beyond Pilates

I don't have a lot of experience on Pilates, can I register my first free intro class on 1.5 intermediate level class?

I’m sorry. This free class is a 40 minute introduction to Pilates. You may purchase our 5 class intro offer for $59. You may take any class and attend any of our 6 studios.

I have a quick question. Do you guys accept Groupon?

We do accept Groupon. We also have a free introductory class at our Del Cerro and State & G locations, as well as 2 other introductory packages that you may purchase online at our website.… Read more

The studio is spotless and the the owners Nicole and Lauri are outstanding; they know your name, they acknowledge that you are there, they make you feel valued and they start and end the class on time. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY THE OWNERS ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT TEACHING CLASSES AND MAKING EVERYONE FEEL THEY ARE PART OF A HEALTH AND FITNESS COMMUNITY AND ZUMBA IS THEIR PASSION AND THEY ARE NOT DISTRACTED BY WORKING IN OTHER FIELDS. Nicole and Lauri teach many of the classes and they are fresh and ready to teach unlike some of the part-time instructors who work for other fitness and dance centers who drag themselves into the studio after performing work for another company . Nicole and Lauri are not like the part-time or burned out instructors who arrive late, end the session early and often don't seem to want to teach the class, rather they want to be home - and/or any place but teaching Zumba. The Move Fitness and Dance instructors never embarrass the students and, unlike some fitness and dance centers they never yell out corrections to students in front of the class. There are not enough words to express how great the Move Fitness & Dance studio is and if you haven't tried a class - I recommend you do. Excellent job - Nicole and Lauri.

North Park

Barre3 North Park is my happy place!…read more I've been a longtime Barre3 fan--originally a member at the La Jolla/UTC location before it sadly closed during the pandemic. I took a break to try other studios, but nothing quite compared. When I moved to Downtown San Diego about 3.5 years ago and discovered the North Park studio, I knew I had to give it a shot. I started taking classes again through ClassPass and was immediately reminded why I loved Barre3 so much--the workouts are still challenging, empowering, and incredibly well-rounded. I officially rejoined as a member during a New Year's special in early 2023, and as of today, I've completed 294 classes! What I love most is the variety: Signature for a balanced, full-body burn Strength for more resistance-focused training Mindful Flow when I need a yoga-inspired reset Every instructor is genuinely kind, welcoming, and so good at what they do. Whether you're a first-timer or seasoned regular, you'll feel supported and challenged in the best way. Parking can be a little tricky--you'll need to find street parking in the surrounding neighborhood or pay $5 to use the nearby parking structure. Avoid Thursdays if you can, because the Farmer's Market makes parking a bit of a mission. Salina, the owner, is fantastic. She recently acquired the Studio Barre in Mission Hills (soon to be another Barre3!), and I've just switched my membership to that location since it's closer to me and has easier parking--but North Park will always hold a special place in my heart. If you're looking for a consistent, encouraging, and fun workout that meets you where you're at, Barre3 is it. I'm proud to be a part of this community and plan to stick with it for years to come!

The variety of classes are great and offer an opportunity to try strength building, cardio, and yoga. The signature class is one of my favorites, allowing for muscle building and cardio bursts, all while remaining low-impact. After 1+ years of consistent classes, I feel the STRONGEST I've ever felt. I was a regular athlete all through highschool and into college and would deal with frequent injuries. Barre3 is the first time I've felt like I can grow at a sustainable rate without risk of injury. Each class also ends with a breathwork session and this has easily been one of my new favorite routines. I now regularly incorporate breath work into my personal life outside of Barre3 and it's been such a nice mental health technique to keep in my back pocket. However, it's the instructors that are the true standout here. They are all SO welcoming, kind, genuine, and have THE best positive energy. I remember being welcomed and guided through my first class so kindly, and I've watched them all welcome other newbies hundreds of times since. They keep it real and give space to the hard parts of daily life and the outside world; but as soon as everyone crosses into the studio - it's time to let that go and it is SO cathartic. It's impossible to leave this studio without being in a better mood than how you arrived - even on the happy days! We're moving to North County and this Barre3 studio will easily be one of the parts I miss most about North Park! All of the Barre team and all of the regulars are such a happy, joyful part of my day and if you're considering this studio - I hope you'll say yes so that you can have this positivity and strength in your life too!

Life is full of change…read more With that, you can wither or grow. FWRD+ Wellness Collective decided on the later. I started as an intermittent visitor when they were in the studio in the strip mall, joined when they were hanging out in Poway at the soccer park and continued the path as it moved to the business park. This is were life becomes a marvel! Challenges occurred. FWRD+ focused, stayed on track and prevailed. The new location is a class junkie's spaced-out dream! Yes! There is plenty of space, fresh air with giant fans, rollup doors and beautiful plants. It's at least 4 times the size. The vast lobby and the roomy classroom with the high-impact floors are touched with a tasteful decor. Multiply this with the quality classes, merchandise and other woman-owned options like Fresh Creations, you've got more opportunities. You can workout, hang out or even eat while you're becoming reacquainted with yourself, new friends or simply being. A big thanks for sharing strength, fortitude and determination to create a desirable entity. Come in, burn calories and leave wanting more. Yes, you do you. Everyone is welcome! FWRD+ has definitely grown itself into the Wellness Collective.

I've seen real gains in strength and mobility, and classes feel accessible for all ages and experience levels. Highly recommend either location. I've heard great things about almost every instructor, but these are the ones I've taken most and would recommend 10x over: Tracy F. - Warm, funny, and welcoming. I've taken 150+ of her classes and they're always fun, varied, and challenging. She creates a supportive environment, encourages growth, and keeps things fresh each week. Her TRX class is one of my all-time favorites. Anel - My first-ever Pilates instructor and a big reason I stuck with it. She teaches a more classical style and clearly explains form and function, which built my confidence early on. Consistent warmups, always-changing flows, and uplifting energy that carries you through class. Jenni G. - A newer instructor to me and now a weekly favorite. She's super attentive (always remembers my lower back issue), offers great modifications, and gives cues that just click. Her flow and TRX classes are fun, challenging, and set to great music. A great pick for beginners or anyone leveling up. Stacy C. - Somehow both challenging and calming. She has a peaceful, encouraging presence and checks in with everyone during class with gentle corrections and praise. I love how she weaves in anatomy and form education--her classes fill up for a reason. One thing I will say is I've noticed there is often not front desk staff at this studio. Instructors seems to be able to help with any logistical stuff like scheduling a class or buying merchandise, but if you have questions about your membership, payment cycles, referrals/discounts or anything like that--you may be better off calling at a different time of day or just emailing the studio.
