I love Xtend Barre Scripps Poway! I have been a client since 2013 and am so grateful for the studio & all of the instructors. The classes are challenging and adaptable to your level. The instructors give you guidance on how to make the exercises more challenging or how to modify it to make it easier. On a day I am feeling extra strong I know how to advance the movements, and on a day I am just not feeling it I know how to lower the demand on my body. I had only tried barre a couple of times before coming to Xtend Barre. Everyone was very nice through the trial process, I got my first class for free and loved it. I attended a 45 minute class on Thursday at 5:45, and there were only 4 of us at the class. The following week I booked through class pass, same class and there was 5 of us. I really enjoyed both classes, the teacher takes the time to show the class what to do but also moves through everything pretty quickly (which is okay, you just have to follow along and catch up when you can). You need grippy socks for this class (which you can get on amazon for cheap). I always come out of the classes feeling great, they're so fun and getting all those little muscles you never work on otherwise! read more

After being recommended by a friend who loves this instructor, I came by and did my first ever barre class at a barre studio. Previously I had tried it at a spin studio so it was neat to compare. They have ample parking, a restroom inside the studio, and cubbies for your belongings inside. My instructor was Kyla who was super sweet, and I definitely broke a sweat. The first part felt like ballet cardio, a lot of booty work, then workouts with dumbells, by the bar with resistant bands, abs, pilates moves with the ball, and mat work. The *Barre and Stretch* class has a good yoga feel with the stretching at the end of class which felt very relaxing with dimmed lights. My form was not corrected at all for being a first timer, but was easy to follow along and get the hang of it all. read more

I started my journey with Xtend Barre with a ClassPass. I was welcomed in right away and have always received a warm welcome compared to other studios on ClassPass. I have tried Bar Method and certainly like this studio better. The instructors are all great, and the classes aren't too crowded. Instructors and staff are super friendly. LOVE. I've tried 5 different barre studios in the north county/Poway area, and Xtend Barre (Scripps and Camino del Sur) are by far my favorite classes to attend. The studios are clean, welcoming, and have cool decorations on the walls. The instructors are so friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming (specific shoutout to Elizabeth and Mandi). They will give you adjustments if you're doing positions wrong, which makes the work-out that much more effective. My favorite class here is a barre/yoga fusion, which is 45 minutes of barre followed by 30 min of yoga, and it just hits the spot. You work your butt off then get to stretch and unwind, all packed into one class. If I didn't love the variety of classpass so much, this is the one and only studio company I would pay to go to monthly. The first class is always free, so give it a try! As an ex-dancer who gained a lot of weight from inactivity and an injury, I am trying to get back in the groove again, I find that Xtend Barre truly is a great workout. I have done several Xtend Barre classes at various studios around San Diego and also Bar Method classes. Xtend Barre is by far the best method with the most cardio integrated into the workout. I particularly like this studio because the instructors all have a strong dance background. What I love about XB is that it is for anyone who wants to get fit- not only dancers. The instructors walk you through each of the step and make adjustments accordingly. After each class, my entire body feels like Jello. I highly recommend you give it a try! The classes and studio themselves are great. Love the instructors and their energy. My biggest issue is their class availability. Because they fill up so quickly, you have to sign up well over a week in advance for weekend classes, which they only offer 3 a day first thing in the morning. I'd really like for them to offer up more class options for the weekend so everyday working moms who can't plan their Saturday and Sunday mornings 10 days in advance can still get their barre on. read more

This has been my go-to postpartum workout and I'm so happy I found it. I had always been intimidated to do a barre class, especially after having not exercised in a while. My first class was so great: several ladies including the instructor made me feel so welcome and were very friendly and encouraging. I honestly felt like I noticed results after a few classes. The studio is also conveniently located, clean and priced well. I ended up purchasing a year-long membership in November. I am addicted to barre! WARNING: This is not for people who want maximum results with minimum effort!!! I unapologetically call those people "lazy"! These classes kick your butt, but you will see a change in your body immediately. My girlfriends and I laugh about how we've become a tiny bit more vain as a result of barre--we can't help but stare at ourselves in the mirror, looking at the changes barre has made on our bodies. I've only been doing barre for a couple of months, but here are a few things I've noticed: -Stronger arms. They are more toned. The many, many pushups (Pilates and regular), free weight workouts and triceps work are to blame :) -Flatter abs. Lots of core work. Seriously. Core 'til you cry. -Stronger thighs. My legs were already toned from training for and running half marathons, but barre adds another level of toning, particularly to the thighs. We do a lot of plié, jumps, relevés and we're on our toes A LOT. -Increased endurance. Sweatin' through cardio! -Better balance. When you're on your toes or one leg frequently, you're forced to focus on your balance. When you're on one leg, holding a ball, tapping the ball to the ground, then extending it to the sky, all to the beat of a fast pop song, don't feel bad if you lose your balance :) -Firmer butt. 'nuff said. -MUFFIN TOP NO MO'!!!!! Most girls hate those two dinner rolls that pop out of the left and right sides of their jeans. Want to know how to lose them? BARRE! I don't know how, but my muffin top is disappearing! Despite my shaky-ass legs, the moans, the groans and the crazy sweat that drips down my forehead into my eyes, it's worth it. I HIGHLY recommend Xtend Barre. Hands down, best workout ever. I quit my gym because of barre! And, my 58-year old mom joined me for a class. I LOVE Xtend Barre!!! I'm so glad I stumbled upon this gem while I was pumping gas at the nearby gas station a few weeks ago. Funny too, because I was just venting to my husband that I wished there were a yoga or Pilates place closer to home. I'm grateful for the convenient location and the wonderful people of Xtend Barre. Sara, the owner is really friendly and goes over any questions you may have about classes. Customer service at its finest! The instructors Emma and Sarah are great! They really do motivate you during class and are always willing to help you with any moves you may find difficult. The classes are beginner friendly and you are encouraged to modify moves if they deem too strenuous. The day after my first class, I was sore, but the 'good 'sore! Classes are fun and I'm addicted! I plan on going 3-4 times a week. I've already recommended Xtend Barre to friends! I've been taking classes in the morning, and it really is a great workout to start off your day. The studio is extremely chic. The ceiling décor and the beautiful hardwood floors really give the studio character. I honestly can't find a single thing about this place that displeases me. I really LOVE Xtend Barre Scripps Poway! I first heard about the new studio through Floaties Swim School, FSS helped to promote the open house to their families and fortunately my husband forwarded it to me because he thought it would be something I would be interested in (particularly because LuluLemon was doing a trunk show too!). I had been wanting to find a class that would be a good mix of pilates (which I'm new at) while also a good workout, something that would be a good alternative for the non-running days when I still want to be active or do some other type of training. I've been to three classes so far and can say that they are fantastic! The workout is awesome, I really work up a sweat, it's amazing! The first two classes I went too were pretty crowded (mainly because the first one was at the open house and the second was on a holiday weekend when they offered a special 75 minute class) and my only suggestion there would be to limit class size to what will realistically fit into the studio - the online reservation system should be able to help with advance sign-ups to a maximum class size. The 3rd class I attended was in the evening on a weekday and it was perfect, just 8 or us (i think) and we had plenty of room, lots of instructor guidance and a great workout! Angie, one of the owners who's also one of the evening instructors, is super nice and really wants to help you learn the moves, help you with your position and get to know you. I like that although i've only been there three times, it's clear they are trying to get to know their clientele and establish relationships. I absolutely love Xtend Barre, but more importantly I love the results I'm seeing in my body. As a recreational 1/2 marathoner (trust me...I'm not winning any Olympic medals, but I am keeping all my body parts in the right place!), I wanted something to compliment my weekly running routine and help tone some problem areas (post-children mini-muffin top & firm up the tooshy!) Xtend Barre has proven to be exactly what I needed. The hour-long classes are INTENSE and fast-paced but super FUN. I'm always amazed when we're winding down the class thinking, "Really? it's already over?" Every class incorporates some basic, foundational moves, but offer plenty of variety so you're rarely bored. You can vary the intensity of your workout based on your level of fitness, or in my case, depending on hard you want to push that day. Sometimes a post-Xtend Barre workout means I have a tough time finishing a 5-mi run the next day because my legs still feel like Jello! But what I love most about Xtend Barre is the positive difference I see in my body. I've been going for just over a month, 2-3X/week, and am amazed at how tone my ENTIRE body looks/feels. My lady lumps are firming up quite nicely and my mini-muffin top has all but disappeared - whee!! Bikini season? Bring it on baby! read more

Did a free first trial (very smooth the online system of signing up) and it was an awesome class. I am currently browsing to take barre classes close to home and work and this is totally an option, although is not the closest to me. The look and feel was exactly the same as I got in Fit in 60, same wall color, lamps, ceiling, mats, except the music and the teacher:). The class was small in size, but the person in the front desk told me they can fill up quickly, which would be too much in my opinion to have up to 20 people in a small studio. Barre for life! Seriously, this workout is addictive. Once you start, you can't help but keep on going! While some new workouts can be intimidating or overwhelming, Xtend Barre is a positive, fun experience. And you feel GREAT! I hadn't been in a ballet studio since age 12 so was a bit apprehensive going in, but the teachers are all fantastic, and happy to help you with form when needed. The instructors are easy to follow and understand, and the classes are all diverse and energetic. You will sweat. You will shake. You will be exhausted. But it will all be worth it! It's a complete body workout, and you will see results faster than expected. No prior dance experience necessary. :) It's like a great mix of ballet, Pilates, and cardio. Good for the heart, body, and soul! Yes, you can tell I drank the Kool-Aid and am a total convert. It wasn't long before I quit my boring gym and became a full-fledge barre girl. I have always had a short attention span for workout routines. The gym bores me, and I just also have so much going on that to take time out of my day to go to classes is a really big deal. That said, I have been going to my barre classes three times a week for about three weeks now, and I've looked forward to every single one of them. I don't think I've ever gone anywhere to exercise at 8am on a Sunday before, but I have no problem making it to these classes. These classes are fast-paced, they kick your butt, you constantly hear people groaning in class, and my legs were shaking so bad once I was quite embarrassed. Like someone else said, it's not for people who want maximum results for minimum effort. That said, all the instructors are very nice, make you feel very comfortable, and they are good about correcting posture and things like that. They are my inspiration, because they all look amazing!! I feel more energetic, I feel stronger, and I feel like I've found something that I can stick with, and will stick with. This is hands-down the most difficult thing I have ever done! This is coming from someone who used to play soccer in high school! Anyways, I've gotten terribly out of shape in the past year and that's why I decided to sign up, I wanted to regain my health/strength/physique. I have been to only three classes and already I am seeing changes in how I look. Albeit, I am so out of shape right now that during class I'm sweating like crazy, my muscles are shaking, and I can hardly breathe 3/4 of the way through... but it is SO worth it! I never thought I could feel so at home in a fitness class, but I really feel welcome here despite my fitness level. I really think I would love these classes if I was just a litttttle more in shape. The classes incorporate a lot of cardio with the strength exercises, so it was really hard for me to keep up and keep going. I've taken barre classes at maybe 4 other studios in the San Diego area, and this one definitely incorporates the most cardio into their routine, so I wouldn't say I'm quite ready to take these classes yet. As a beginner, I'd prefer it if routines went slower and the exercises focused more on form and movement to get a burn going rather than so much cardio. But otherwise the classes are fun and the teachers are kind and encouraging. The studio is also beautiful, nice, and clean. Just remember to bring grip socks or you are going to have to buy some there for most likely a marked-up price. read more

Xtend Barre in Poway just opened in May! I've been a client of Xtend Barre in the past, and can say the workout you get is amazing. It truly is an all-around workout that targets your arms, legs, core, and gets your cardio in as well! Why is this studio so great? The studio is beautiful! Hardwood floors, lots of mirrors, the decor makes you feel like you're as far from a traditional gym as you could get, but your workout makes you feel like you spent 3 hours at the gym! I've taken classes from several of the instructors, and they are all great! Each one brings a little something different to the class, but they all are on top of making sure each person works to their abilities and gets a great workout. I've taken classes from Emma, Stephanie, as well as Sara and Angie (the owners). If you have any questions about exercises, they always stay after class to address any issues or questions you have. If you are looking for a low impact workout that works for any age or ability level, try Xtend! Depending who the teacher is, I find that there is a great variety of class intensities and they are always coming up with new exercises so that the classes don't get too repetitive or boring. One of my coworkers recommended Xtend Barre Scripps Poway to me and I couldn't be happier! Angie and her team are exceptional! I used to be a dancer and go to the gym religiously but i got (way...like a few years) out of my routine and I'm so out of shape now and I was having a really tough time getting back into a new routine - until I was introduced to Angie and Xtend! I love it because it's fun and it's a great workout! Every time I leave, I feel great! I love that I feel the burn in pretty much all of my muscles, not just one section, so I know it's a great workout that is working my entire body! The cost is quite a bit more than a 24 Hour membership but it's TOTALLY WORTH IT!! I had my 24 Hour membership for over a year and hardly went, so to me it's worth it to pay more if I'm really benefiting from it! And plus if I'm paying more for my classes, then that means I have less money to eat out, right?! It's secretly saving me from all of those additional calories from restaurants! Haha! I love Xtend Barre. I am an avid running and gym go-er, but am always looking for something different that keeps me on my toes. This workout is the perfect combination or strenght training and cardio at a fast pace that makes you forget it has been 55 minutes since you stopped moving! The instructors here are amazing and super helpful and accomidating. They are always willing to help you out, and even stay after class to show you better technique for the moves. Angie and Sara always great you with a smile on their face, and the other members are very nice and welcoming too. The studio is beautiful and very clean, which is a huge plus. The music is loud and upbeat, but the instructors wear a Mic so it is easy to hear them. Class times are perfect - go try it out! read more
