Visiting Mr. Wayne at Dr. Detail was an amazing experience. I have lived across the street since the store opened but never stopped in due to a false belief that they only catered to professional detailers and car wash businesses. My black ten-year-old car was definitely starting to show its age. Despite car washes every other week, waxes every month, and attempts at hand polishing, the clearcoat was starting to oxidize and the paint was looking tired. I had gotten quotes for paint correction from a few mobile detailers and businesses ranging from $400 to $600 depending on how far I wanted to go with the restoration. Wayne greeted me from his corner office and after two minutes of me trying to explain my concern he was outside with a bar of clay, a spray detailer, and some compound. My main concern was that the clear coat on my car was too thin and that any further attempts at "cutting" or abrasive polishing would wear down the paint. Mr. Wayne assured me that I had plenty of clearcoat left and proceeded to test a small portion of the hood, bringing it back to a nice shine in a few minutes. The entire time he was educating me on products and methods on how I could achieve this in an afternoon with the right tools and supplies. After going back in the store, Wayne lined up products for me on the counter but I NEVER once felt any sales pressure. Hesitantly, I even mentioned that I had some Meguires polish at home and Wayne recommended that I use a Meguires compound as it will work best as a system. Normally, this type of comment would yield an irritated response from seasoned shop owners, but not in the case of Dr. Detail. He recommended that I purchase a dual-action polisher from Harbor Freight despite having a wall full of them in his store. He then even coached me on which pads to use with which product and the method by which I should hold and maneuver the polisher over the panels of my car. In the end, I left his store with only a bar of clay, a spray detailer, glass cleaner, but most importantly the knowledge and confidence that I could tackle this job on my own. Cut to this past weekend, after about four hours of pretty tiring work my car looks better than it has in YEARS. It most certainly isn't a show car but those were never my expectations for my daily driver. I was able to remove 90% of the oxidation from my hood and roof and attribute the remaining 10% to my own user error with the products and tools. We need more shop owners like "Dr." Wayne, he is a wealth of knowledge and I look forward to seeing him again soon! read more

After making the mistake of not washing off bird poop off my car immediately, there were brown stains that the car wash I go to couldn't wipe off. I was devastated and kicking myself in the rear. My poor white car now had about two dozen blemishes on it courtesy of the rats of the sky. Well my luck changed when I found Dr.Detail on Yelp. Drove up to his store and met the good doctor himself, he did a couple of test runs from the mildest chemicals up. Found one that took off my stain and I was sold. For anyone wondering, this is NOT a detailing service. What this shop sells, is detailing supplies and oh boy, is it the best (and only). So there I was buying a new car 2 weeks ago, staring at her in all her glory until I realized the worst. She was dirty. Damn dirty. I needed help, serious help. Maybe I'll take it to a car wash? Maybe I'll pay a mobile detailer? Or maybe... One Google search later I found this place and decided that I was going to detail my brand new car myself. I show up at the show and am gleefully greeted by the owner, who couldn't be more helpful and courteous. I told him that I was completely inexperienced in auto detailing and that I wanted to get a "starter kit" if you will. He explained each and every product that I would need, how to use it, what to use it with, and a bunch of other stuff I kinda zoned out on. But hey, I knew he knew his stuff so I trusted him. This is a man who truly appreciates his craft. The prices were pretty cheap, especially since I can wash my car at least 10-15 times and full detail it about 5 times with all the goods I bought which ended up costing me around 150 dollars. If anyone's had their car detailed before, that's usually the price of ONE detail.
