Fortunately I did have cash with me, but that is a lot of money and I did not have an opportunity to save it up. I really like my dentist because she is very good and concerned about patient comfort and information, but not sure I will go back because of the distance. I will see if a dental office can provide the hardware that I may need replaced in the future at a reasonable cost. Because they seemed to think it was funny that I told them it was terrible to spring something like this on the day with no prior notice. After spending thousands of dollars at this office, I was never treated like a valued customer. -Crown Delivery (Nightmare) I went in the office for the delivery of my crown on #31. I was in pain the moment the assistant started to take off my temporary crown. Dr. Taylor then gave me a series of injections to numb me. Those injections were ineffective and I still felt severe pain while the assistant prepped my tooth. This led to clear frustration and mistreatment by Dr. Taylor. I spent 2 hrs at this appointment for the crown delivery and I was in pain the entire time. The lack of empathy, poor explanation and flat out rude response to my questions by Dr. Taylor destroyed my confidence in this dentist office. -Failure to Receive Treatment Plan The dentist failed to give me my treatment plan after my initial visit. I had to ask several times for my plan before I received it. Once I received my treatment plan I was shocked because it contained several treatments that were not discussed in the initial appointment. I was initially told I needed 2 root canals and to replace an old dental bridge. Turns out there was several cavities, a deep cleaning and a crown needed on #31, I was never made aware of. No one in the office made any effort to go over my plan or asked if I had questions regarding the treatment plan when it was finally handed to me. -Failure to Disclose Crown Materials I was not given the option to choose my crown material for #30. I was told they would be using porcelain and did not think about the possibility of other options being available. I received my treatment plan after getting the temporary crown on #30, the price was crazy expensive and no one at the office went over it with me so I started researching online all the different treatments. I learned there are several types of crown materials with different cost and durability. I asked the dentist at my following appointment if I could get the rest of my crowns in a different material. He then advised me on the 3 other material types I could choose from. I determined porcelain was not the best option for me and chose a different material for the remaining crowns. Why was I not given the option to choose my crown material in the first place? -Failure to Disclose Cost of Crown I went in one day for a root canal on #12, but I decided I wanted to finish the crown on #30 before starting #12. They placed a temporary crown on #30 and told me to come back in 3 weeks for the final crown. When I went to check out I was hit with a $400 bill for the crown that no one disclosed to me prior to the work being started. -Deep Cleaning Consent Form & -Failure to Go Over My Chart Prior to my deep cleaning I was told to sign a consent form stating "I understand I have periodontal gum disease". I was very confused because I was never told I had a gum disease. When I asked the assistant to clarify, she asked me " did the dentist show you the screen of how all your teeth look and go over it with you". I told her no he did not. The dentist then reviewed my chart with me and determined I do NOT have periodontal gum disease. Why did I have to sign a consent form stating something that is NOT true in order to receive the deep cleaning treatment? Why did the dentist not go over my chart with me in the initial appointment? Based on my experience I would not recommend this place to anyone.

When the nurse started going over what was being done she mentioned bone graft. I hadn't been informed about this so I asked to speak to the Dr. Unfortunately the explanation led to me asking what materials were going to be implanted into my body ie donor bone, cadaver etc. She literally went and got the box to read. SHE DIDN'T KNOW. I asked again if this was needed only for a later implant or if it was necessary. She kept saying "well you don't have to get it". So I'm supposed to have a material implanted into me from who knows for the rest of my life. At this point my anxiety and stress are extremely high. After not knowing what material was being used I asked again. Was it only necessary for the implant or needed for the procedure. She flat out said "I already explained it to you already". I stood said "no, you will not speak to me that way" and walked to the front. I asked for an office manager but they have none on site. I had to wait to speak to another dentist who will be treating me tomorrow. I can't wait for the VA to send me somewhere else. I can't keep waiting to get this taken care of. It's a shame because this use to be a great office. Many people have dental anxiety and having a dentist with a compassionate calm bedside manner makes a world of difference. The front desk and nurses are wonderful. It's unfortunate. I will update after tomorrow's visit.

I called in to schedule an appointment in the mid-May, and I told them very clearly I have Tricare dental and asked them if they accept Tricare. They said yes they do accept Tricare and then set up my appointment on June 22. I showed up and checked in, then the front desk asked me to pay $100 copay, I told them Tricare covers 100% on the annual exam and x-ray and cleaning twice a year. Then they told me oh we are NOT in the Tricare network and you need to pay a copay $100! WHAT!!! WHY DID NOT TELL ME ON THE PHONE WHEN I CALLED THE FIRST TIME???!!!! I said then I do not want to proceed with the appointment and about to walk out, the manager saw that I was about to leave, she said oh I can just bill your insurance and waive the copay, since you are already here, I do not want to turn you away. We will just do the x-ray and you can take the images to another dental which is in the network. I accepted and proceeded with the x-ray. I was SO WRONG!! I really really should have left! Later of the day I found another dentist on Tricare Dental Program website and called them and told them what happened earlier today. I was told that: 1) they would need to do their own full mouth X-ray and not accepting what other dentist has done due to liability 2) Tricare only covers full mouth x-ray once every year, I would need to pay out of pocket for the second one. This place wants to make money so bad that they totally abused my insurance coverage! They knew clearly I had Tricare and they could not do any cleaning or needed treatment for me! Even they waived the $100 copay but they submitted $$$ claim to my insurance! Yeah, they got paid from insurance! Now I have to pay for another X-ray out of pocket! My husband and I can't continue with Dual Arc Dental because they no longer submit the full bill to the insurance company and after that amount is paid the patient pays the balance. Sometimes we cannot afford to pay up front so we located another practice recommended by a friend which will submit the bill to our insurance and allow us to pay the balance. We understand that Dual Arc made a business decision and we wish them the best. Try them and you will be impressed with the high level of dental help.
