DQ Pest Control - Great work cleaning this out thanks DQ - Pest Control Near Me

We discovered that squirrels had decided to make a home above our bedroom in the crawlspace and realized we needed professional help to get rid of them. I called David because I found his website, he was very experienced and also close to us. He arrived in an hour set traps and always came back to tend them. He even called me once before I could call him to ask whether we had caught a squirrel. Sure enough we did and seven squirrels later we were were finally finished. I have to say the whole event was as painless as it could be and David couldn't have been more of a professional, I highly recommend his services. He also recommended a great contractor for the necessary repairs we needed. The cost for the trapping was more than fair as was the cost for the contractor. The short story is the squirrels are gone the repairs look great and we couldn't be happier. read more

I cannot stress enough what a good job DQ does. I've had the misfortune of needing their services again recently and the service was as quick, personable and effective as always. As was the case in the other occasions I needed DQ's services, they were on time, worked quickly and the process from start to finish was as described. I found the fees fair and their follow up stellar. I can only wonder what the deal is with the negative reviews they've gotten. I have nothing but good things to say and I recommend whole-heartedly. Thanks again DQ! read more

We called David because we heard what we thought was a squirrel in our attic. David came out to our home quickly and found that starlings had built a nest in the attic. He removed the birds and the nest and then screened up the hole where they had come in. David was really friendly and knowledgeable, and he communicated with us every step of the way. We would definitely recommend his services! read more

DQ Pest; Dave - a true professional. He is very experienced, responsive, and thorough. He explained everything each step of the way with a real human touch. I never felt scared, worried or even silly speaking with him. Despite his crazy schedule, he showed up every day to ensure my squirrel problem would be resolved. He took my problem and made it his own and resolved it. What a relief for me and for a very reasonable price. He is completely worth it. Don't waste time with someone coming to give you an "assessment". He is upfront, no surprises, confident and just gets the job done. I would recommend him to anyone who mentions a pest problem. read more

If you want an INHUMANE and IGNORANT person to come and do cruel things to your Mom squirrel in your attic, plus her babies, call this guy! He is totally unqualified to handle the removal of squirrels. He shows no knowledge of, nor interest in, the fact that baby squirrrels are 5 weeks right now and need 12 weeks before they can be outside of the nest. I sure as heck don't want to take them out now. They need time so they won't die. And he wants to put them 50 miles from my house in a location he will not even give me. The Volunteers for Wildlife later told me that they are likely to die. What an idiot this guy is!! I called the Volunteers for Wildlife, a bona fide wildlife rehab hospital and organization, and they told me that what this man was about to do was WRONG and HARMFUL to the animals. If you want to do the RIGHT thing, contact those who love animals and who are trained professionals: This man has no business handling squirrels or wildlife. He's in it for the money and to hell with the welfare of these aimals. PERIOD. Not that he is probably any worse or more inhumane than most so-called "pest" removers. (Animals are not pests. They have the right to life and be treated humanely.) Want to have a win-win? Help the animals and protect your home from property damage? Call these people who will give you a competent, effective and yes, HUMANE referral. Your house will have no more animals and you will have treated the animals with kindness and a respect for life. I have never written a Yelp review until I dealt with this company. Found their website while searching to see if the county handles raccoons. In a deceptive way, they make their operation seem like it's a part of Nassau County. The header on their website says NASSAU COUNTY WILDLIFE CONTROL, not DQ PEST CONTROL. You have to scroll below the fold to see it's a private company. When I was told the charge was $85 to remove a raccoon, thinking it was the county, I asked, "$85?" That's when I was hung up on. I called back to curse out the guy for being an incredible dickhead, only to put placed on hold immediately and then have the line cut out on me. Called back again and get the recorded message that this number is not in service. I'm willing to pay more money with another pest control company to take the raccoon I trapped and throw him into DQ Pest Control's office. Hopefully, the raccoon is rabid and will bite the dude who hung on me in the ass or in his mouth. Message to YELP, you need to institute zero stars and have DQ Pest Control be the inaugural company. read more

Great service. I had a squirrel family nesting in my attic. After I attempted to chase them out in my own I decided on professional service. DQ Pest Control was a good choice. The cost was fair and there were no hidden surprises. DQ Eliminated my squirrel problem within two visits. David came when promised and was immediately available to remove the squirrels after they were trapped. David recommended a contractors repair the damage the squirrels made and close up the access to their entry. Will definitely use again should the situation arise. read more

DQ Pest Control did an absolute first class job. Reliable, experts, at a fair price. Arrived immediately after being contacted; comprehensively analyzed the problem; set up traps for the squirrels; returned each time (4) they were notified that a squirrel had been trapped. Also, had an excellent recommendation (Carlos), to repair roof work, which was done subsequently, and at a fair price. read more

David was excellent at helping me with my Carpenter Bee infestation. Terminex, Orkin, and other competitors were more expensive and needed to come multiple times. WOW. The reviews do not lie when they say this guy is RUDE! My office has some sort of wildlife (raccoon, possum, squirrel..not exactly sure) in the attic. I left a voicemail requesting more information on the removal and a minute later the phone rings. **Updated review** ***I'm only changing this review from a 1 to a 3 star simply because the owner called me after this Yelp review to say he apologized and it wasnt intentional him hanging up on me. I already have a bad taste in my mouth. However, because they called, I feel its necessary I note the good and the bad. I've already moved on to another company. Thank you.*** New home owner. I literally called just now to inquire about what are the steps to go about removing what seems like a birds nest under my awning over my deck. Whoever answered the phone, I'm ASSUMING its the owner David, was so SHORT with me and rude. After he told me the price of $350 to remove the birds, before I could even finish my thoughts to then Express to him what I wanted to do, he hung up the phone. Its 930am, maybe hes not a morning person, but that's not how you do business. Despite all the great reviews I see here on Yelp, I'd never use this business. Way too callous and rude for my taste. Thanks but no thanks. On to the next read more

IM GLAD I CALLED THIS GUY!!!!! A SAVIOR! I hired Orkin to come over to my house today to remove mice between 4-6 and they never showed. With some panic and some desperation, I searched google and David was the first person I found. He came over after hours on a Friday night and he couldn't have cared less what time it was, he just wanted to help out and identify the issue. Upon coming in we identified the problem areas in my apartment and got right to work. He was definitely a people person, we had a good conversation while he was hurled over my toilet spraying wall patch into the wall, I can only assume I wouldn't have gotten half of this if i had waited until tomorrow to have Orkin to come over and charge me more money for the same exact thing, after disrespecting me by not showing up and having no customer service to handle the issue. I will most assuredly recommend David to other people because honestly, he's a real person. Hopefully I won't have to have him back because I don't want any more rodents!! But if I have to have an exterminator come out again, it will most assuredly be David Quinn. Thanks again Dave!!! read more

The worst company EVER! Called for an estimate and asked what it cost to get raccoons out of my attic. I was quoted $"650" by who I assume was the owner. I asked if clean up was included in the price and was given major attitude and told he wouldn't come out for a total estimate then hung up on me. For a "humane" removal service the owner could use a few lessons in customer service. No stars. read more

David Quinn knows what he's doing. Came in on time, set up a trap on the roof right where it was supposed to be. Raccoon was gone the next day. Tried a different company before calling DQ (reviewed on Yelp as well) and they had no clue what they were doing. DQ is professional and knowledgeable in his field. Hope I never have to, but if I have another critter problem, David is getting the call. read more

Top notch service and I would definitely use again in the future. Overall, we are happy we called DQ Pest Control. We found a flying squirrel trapped inside our chimney. We called DQ Pest Control and he was here within a few hours. He took care of the problem quickly and was not afraid of getting a little dirty. You could tell he has done this many times before. After the pest was caught, he gave us some tips on how to prevent this from happening again in the future. Overall, we are very satisfied. read more

Wow, talk about unprofessional. DON'T HIRE this company! Their practices are horrifying. They think it's best to shoot pigeons in crowded Pharmacies with little children watching. A net would do just fine to catch it and release it. First shot only clipped the bird, so it flew around pouring blood all over the place. I personally offered to take over so I could catch the bird and bring it to a wildlife rehab or have it humanly euthanized. That's when I got cursed at and lied to multiple times! This man has no compassion for animals or people! He continued to curse and shoot the bird with dozens of people watching and begging him to stop. Including little children crying. I have heard many other horror stories about this company, but this is all I witnessed. I will be reporting to the authorities as he should not have a trapper license! Not only was this horrifying but it was incredibly dangerous!! read more

Rip off !! Avoid at all costs . I called to have squirrels removed from the attic and he never went into the attic . He charged 450$ and 50 per squirrel . DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! Dave, the owner, is the RUDEST, most DISRESPECTFUL, most UNETHICAL person I have ever come across! There is some sort of small animal in our attic crawl space and after doing some research and seeing the good reviews for DQ Pest Control, we decided to go with them. BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER! Dave came over and after briefly looking at the space, informed us that we have a mice issue because he saw "mice droppings". For $350 he told us he would get rid of them, GUARANTEED. What this wonderful method consists of is him literally throwing down some rat poison with no intention of ever coming back. I could have done that myself for a whole lot cheaper! Before he left he told us that the weak points in our home that might be possible entry points for small animals would be the vents on our roof and the opening in the garage wall to allow for wiring. He recommended we should get those fixed and gave us his favorite contractor. About a week goes by and the sounds in the crawl space, instead of going away or died down, intensified so we called Dave to see if he could come by. He was very brisk on the phone and told us unless we got the vent fixed, he couldn't do his job. Mind you, he never once says those are perquisites to him coming for follow-up visits in his initial diagnosis. We got the vent fixed and my husband called him again only to be yelled at, talked down to, and was repeatedly talked over. He now tells us that all the holes in the garage must also be sealed off. This man loves to hear the sound of his own voice. He finally relented and told us he would come by in a week. However, he raged in a follow-up call when he learned we did not use his contractor and voiced his doubts on the quality of work that was done and whether that would permit him to do his job. What legitimate business person would force you to use their contractor, to which he initially says he cared not whom we used, before they can do a re-assessment. Needless to say I was livid when I heard this. We did not pay him to NOT do his job and disrespect us. I no longer trust him or want him in my home so I called to get a better understanding for myself and ask for a refund. The moment he heard who I was he immediately went into a rant about what we needed to do in order for him to do his job. I had to ask him MULTIPLE TIMES to stop raising his voice and screaming at me because I was trying to have a calm and civil conversation with him. He pretty much called my husband and I stupid and brushed me off saying he will stop by in a week before hanging up on me. I have decided that I will seek legal counsel and take him to small claims court. At this point it's not about the money or the job that he promised and DID NOT delivered but about the principles, being professional and treating your customers well. read more

In the twenty plus years that I've been in my current home I've had a gazillion "professionals" who have come in to do all the things a homeowner needs done. This was the first time I desperately needed a wild life removal expert and I had no one in my contact list who could service the problem nor recommend someone. I made at least eight calls after a Google search. Their quotes to take care of a raccoon problem were all over the charts. I was more confused than ever. My final inquiry was to David, the owner of DQ Pest. He spoke quickly and wasn't a "smooth as silk"/slick salesman, but everything he said made sense and I could just tell he knew what he was talking about when it came to my pest situation and how to solve it. To make a long story short, he was DILIGENT, PROFESSIONAL, knowledgeable and took care of the catching and removal which was complicated and took him about a week to accomplish. His original price never changed and he visited my home MANY times (sometimes twice a day) until the task was done. He even put me in touch with a fabulous roofer to take care of all the damage caused by the raccoons. He won't hold your hand during the process, he might not return your calls (I think he's just impatient with those - like me -who know nothing of his field of expertise who call with questions while he's doing the job), he's not one to "schmooze", but my experience exemplified to me that he is an honorable pro who will be there when he knows he needs to be there, knows what he's doing and does what you hire him to do. Thanks again, David ! read more

Admittedly, I have never written a review, whether the service has been good or bad. In this instance, however, I felt compelled to write about our experience. We suspected a squirrel in the attic and called DQ following a Google search. DQ came to our home and felt it unnecessary to enter the attic or go on the roof to inspect the suspected animal entrance site. DQ opted to only set outdoor cage traps for a fee of $450. Over the course of the next few days, nothing was lured into the traps yet the noise in the attic remained. DQ refused to go into attic and informed us that he didn't have an appropriate ladder to enter. We were suspicious regarding DQ's methods but unfortunately put our trust in their expertise. Upon communicating our disappointment, DQ became entirely unreachable. A truly unpleasant experience that cost time and additional expense to remedy. We felt compelled to share with others. read more

We called DQ pest control after a rather large opossum knocked a panel out of my wall and decided to make my ceiling his home. David was at my home the following morning and set traps to catch him. Unfortunately, the opossum found the crawlspace under my patio which, due to a previous bad contracting job was not accessible. After a few days with no catches, I noticed some paw prints in my bathroom. Mr.Opossum decided to come in to my apartment. We called DQ immediately and he was there the next morning and I took it upon myself to make a hole to get access to the crawlspace. After doing a thorough search of the room, David placed more traps and the next morning, we got HIM! DQ came right away and removed him, and was nice enough to leave some traps just in case there was another. After a few days, David came back and removed the traps. Having these pests in your home can be very intimidating and leave you feeling violated. DQ was there for my family and was professional and courteous. It is a dirty and dangerous job and he goes above and beyond. Thank you so much! read more

I made this account to post this . I never write negative reviews but the rudeness was unbelievable and very unprofessional. So I walk outside this morning and there was rabid raccoon waking towards me and goes under my car . It looked disoriented and I knew something was wrong . I walked back in and called a number my brother in law got for me thinking its was a town animal control. I was greeted very unprofessional . The man who answered said , how can I help you?! There was no intro of what company this was, so I asked is this animal control and he proceeded to say what kind of animal; not a yes this is an animal pest control , I answered raccoon .He then asked where is it I said under my car and he said where are u located I said My town and he said something right after that but I couldn't hear because he said it so quick . I assumed he said ok we will send someone and then I said wait you don't need my address and he said did you hear what I said and I said no sorry and he said its $250 and I said I'm not paying that and before I could say anything he rushed me off and said have a good day and hung up on me . To me that is very unprofessional and rude. As far as I know a wild animal that clearly looks like it might be dangerous and possibly have rabies because it's a nocturnal animal and shouldn't be out in the morning would concern anyone at least any real human being with a conscious . He didn't seem one bit worried or interested in helping me. His only concern was to charge me and rush me off the phone. He didn't once question anything or give me any help or other possible suggestions seeing that $250 isn't chump change most people don't have laying around in case a raccoon up and decides to hang out on your property . I was very nervous and I know I sounded worried and he didn't even care or attempt to calm me down. If he had approached the whole situation a little more concerned that a rabid wild animal is in my driveway I may have possibly contracted them to come . I just found it steep at first, $250 is a lot to pay when you didn't do anything . I would assume anyone who heard this at first thinks it sounds expensive and hard to accept when again this isn't your fault . Obviously I was mistaken to think this and obviously he has a business to run and charge but if he had clarified when he answered and said to me yes we are a private pest and animal control company I probably would of apologized and called the town or the police . I would never recommend or use them !!! read more

APPALLING PROFESSIONALISM! I was appalled when the man hired from this company shot a pigeon in the middle of a pharmacy during business hours. It was uncalled for, unprofessional, and dangerous. With several customers in the store, the man took out a gun, most likely a BB gun, and shot the pigeon. It was unbelievably disturbing as many tried to ask him to stop. He then yelled back and threatened customers and later cursed that he just wants to get "the f*cking bird out of here." I waited around for over thirty minutes to see if the man would retrieve the bird. With blood stains on a store sign, he climbed up on the refrigerators and tried retrieving the bird, but after a half hour he was unable to do. read more

We found fur in our garage and small items knocked over and called DQ to set traps. DQ came right away. My husband gave him a check for $350 and was told that DQ was licensed to remove wild animals and release them humanely in the wild at a cost of $50 per animal removed. The next morning we found a neighbor's cat in the cage and quickly released it. DQ did not come back for a week and the food in the traps rotted in our garage - the stench was horrible. Over a month later we received a bill for $50 to remove the cat (which DQ did not do) and $75 for cage damage (which did not occur!) I sent DQ a letter indicating this bill was sent in error. Hopefully DQ will do the right thing. Will keep readers updated. read more
