All other items here are just "meh", but if you can get to one of the few remaining Minneapolis DQs which still serve this nectar of the gods known as "a crunch cone", you will have experienced a blissful 10 minutes of your life. This location gets a generous 4 stars from me not only because it's faithful to train it's teens to dribble this CRUNCH onto the cone for the last few remaining folk who know to ask for this off-menu item, but because it's near the city's one and only waterfalls, Minnehaha Falls. Can't get to wound up that the service wasn't the best, they closed a few minutes early, etc. Lets be happy those kids want to work and establish some degree of eye contact when taking your order. I don't usually complain, but their service was terrible. It's a bunch of young kids that have zero common sense to how to act respectfully. My boyfriend and I ordered two blizzards: medium cookie dough blizzard with extra cookie dough and a large double fudge cookie dough blizzard. Not that hard, right? My boyfriend's blizzard was fine, but mine... they just put vanilla ice cream in there and put a couple of cookie dough chunks in there. My boyfriend went back inside to tell them that and the kid at the cashier said, "Are you sure about that?" Seriously? This place is filled with immature kids who think it's okay to disrespect their customers. I didn't see a single adult in that place. Horrible experience. I will never go back to this place. It deserves no stars. The teenagers working there tonight were horribly rude and argued with parents from my son's baseball team. What was meant as a fun thing to do after loosing our baseball game became a disaster. One of our coaches met my kids and I in the parking lot to say they are not happy about us coming in so close to closing, but I was able to order a small blizzard, a dip cone and peanut buster parfait. The Parfait was a disastrous mess that should never have been served and I asked it to be remade, but it took so long and they started to argue with other families from our team saying that ice cream and registers stop working at 9:30 so I just asked for my money back. Many parents asked for the names of the managers so they could complain later to the owner. One manager, Brett, was very rude and you could hear him saying derogatory things to the others working there about us. read more

Holy cow was this place hoppin today! I guess once it hits 50 degrees around here, Minnesotans come out of hibernation in droves to get their DQ fix! We showed up about 3pm on a Sunday, and the parking lot only had one space open. We thought we might try the drive thru, but there isn't one. There's a walk-up window, but it was closed today. When we went inside, I was concerned it would take forever to place and receive our order, but they seem to have a smooth operation because for all the people that were there, I was amazed at how quickly I was able to sit down and enjoy my $1.99 mini blizzard! I asked for extra candy in my blizzard, and whoever made it did a perfect job! I had a delicious piece of cookie-dough in every bite, which made me one happy girl :) read more

I am a sucker for anything ice cream and Dairy Queen really brings me back to my childhood of Dilly bars and blizzards. This location did not disappoint. At first I was a little discouraged when we got here and the line was out the door. But that sure changed when I saw how quickly the workers were moving. Blizzard after blizzard was ready and being passed out to its "owner". They have a variety of blizzards including a fast food menu that ranged from hot dogs to quesadillas. The inside is really small but they have a small outdoor seating area that looked very pleasant and clean! Overall quick service, perfectly mixed blizzards and decent atmosphere! read more

Don't get me wrong, I like Dairy Queen. However, last night, I went in to grab one of the new Royal Blizzards DQ (and this location) are heavily advertising. When I placed my order, the young worker told me that "it would take too long to punch that into the register, so you'll just have to have a regular blizzard." UH. WHAT? The person helping me took my order ring me up and walked away to the back where there were two other employees. I was the only customer in the store. I hope next year they hire people based on customer service ability. I watched an employee scratch her face before touching the INSIDE of my ice cream cone after taking order after order and handling cash and credit cards. No use of gloves, no hand washing. Unsanitary and disgusting! I then watched another employee emerge from the bathroom and go right to the cash register. Did she even attempt to rewash her hands in the sink inside the kitchen as MANDATED by state law for food service? Nope! Needless to say I asked for a refund and asked for the name of the owner. Here's the setup--we went to this Dairy Queen on a summer Saturday evening for a couple of chili cheese dogs and a couple of Blizzards. They weren't particularly busy and our order wasn't particularly complicated. I sat outside with our pooch while my wife went inside to order. We received the Blizzards without much wait, but my wife was informed AFTER we got the Blizzards that the hot dogs were "coming." After another wait, someone from the back came out and told her that they didn't have chili ready for the chili dogs and it would take "an hour" for more chili to be ready. Well, who wants to wait an hour for a hot dog, so my wife asked for a refund and that was that. Just then, someone from the back called out "No, it won't take an hour, it's ready now." OK, great. But THEN, the cashier handed my wife some money and said "Here's your refund." Surprising, because she'd just been told that the chili dogs were almost ready. Well, whatever. So we're sitting outside eating our Blizzards, when up walks a young woman who we assume was the manager, and she starts berating my wife for "yelling" at her employees for not giving us our chili dogs. This sounds ludicrous, and it is, because really, who gives a rip about a couple of chili dogs? We were fine with not getting them (even though the incoherent service inside the restaurant was a bit baffling), but to have the manager come outside specifically to chastise her customers because she thought that my wife was "yelling" at her employees is beyond belief. This is customer service? What kind of manager specifically sets out to drive away customers? Apparently this Dairy Queen's manager does. Another woman in line with my wife witnessed all this (including what happened inside the restaurant) and was flabbergasted as well at the manager's behavior. We've had issues with bad service and poor quality product at this Dairy Queen in the past, but it's never been as bad as this. Needless to say, we won't be returning. There are many other wonderful Dairy Queens in the Twin Cities (try the one on East Lake Street--it's the BEST), so we'll have plenty of other options when we need a DQ fix. read more

Whoever hired the teenagers that work at this location need to re-evaluate their decision. My girlfriend ordered a cookie dough blizzard with extra cookie dough, when they handed it to her, it was just vanilla ice cream in a cup with one piece of cookie dough. I walked back up to the counter with it and had told the cashier that she had asked for extra cookie dough and there is none in here. The cashier said "are you sure about that?" And looked at me like I was from another planet. He handed it to someone else who tried to dig through it to the bottom only to find no cookie dough. She then made a new one which still barely had any in it also. I used to come to this place all the time, but based on today's experience, will never come back. The kitchen/back room was filthy and all the workers were just standing around on their phones. They either need to hire new help here or something. It was a hot a day on July 21 , it was quite busy in the dq . props to employees for with standing all the disrespectful people . this is one of the busyness Dairy Queen in the whole state . I've witnessed stuff thrown at the employees. people cussing out the employees. they deserve a lot more respect .. these employees are the best and I always love coming to this dq . it's a great place and I love the enormous outdoor seating area as well . this is my local favorite Dairy Queen . read more
