I love Taylor Swift, but playing pop tracks like hers over actual dance sets totally killed the vibe you expect when going out. Calling it a college night was also pretty misleading, considering about half the guys there were way older and looked easily twice my age. To make matters worse, the crowd was heavily skewed at around 20 to 80 women to men, which made the whole environment feel unbalanced and uncomfortable.

I had the entire drink already blacked out total completeamnesia for over 8-10 hours . I'm lucky to be alive as he described me laying on my back unconscious vomitting for hours if he had not been able to turn me repeatedly I probably would not be alive to write this . Took over 4 days to recover And preemptively, please don't victim shame and blame. We are 50 years old. Have a lot of experience with alcohol and very well. Know the difference between over indulgence and being drugged. We were both drugged once before in our lives. Owner Please review the footage at the time of shift change when Cedric was getting off shift. It's obviously too late to help us, but if we could prevent this from happening to anyone else there. Please spread the word. This is a big problem in bars. It's come to having a drink test kits or staying at home to have some drinks. Unfortunately, there are some evil people out there. Please help people if you see someone like this don't assume they have had too much they may need to get to a hospital . . People die, have seizures and of course we all know how easy to be assaulted when so incapacitated . *^**Response from owner was that I should not have spoken out publicly but reached out to contact him privately . my response was that I wanted to send a loud and clear message to the perpetrator( all fun and games until the FELOny charges ) to not do this again in your bar and owner suggested that perhaps it happened somewhere else and this and that this has never occurred in his establishment 26 years, however we went nowhere before or afterwards. Also, owner stated bartender, said we left we were walking steadily that we looked fine when we left when actually I was a zombie with no recollection of leaving. This is the hallmark of being roofied. if I was" blackout drunk", which I would've had to have been to not recall anything after 30 min in your bar or leaving or 8 hours to follow. I would not have been "walking steadily" as you stated. Unfortunately, denying this actually happened or staying quiet is not the way to try to fix this problem. It is very widespread.. in California some years back they passed a law that bars must post signs to raise awareness of being roofied and offer drink spike test kits at cost as a bar owner please do all you can to ensure what is within your control this does not happen again in your bar educate yourself and staff what to look for and what to do ALSo ... since you just announced publicly you have a poor video monitoring system and apologized you could provide me any info ... that is more for an owner who has a lot more to lose if his staff or patrons are drugging patrons YOU stand to lose a lot more if there is a bad outcome ( ie death by choking ala Elvis style) . Food for thought . All this aside I think the in between is a super karaoke cool bar at least what I remember .

They have Salsa on Thursday nights so I walked from my hotel to this place which ended about 15-17 minutes which is not that bad. I had to walk through a sketchy area while following my navigation on my phone. When I left the place, I walked through the Ala Moana Center which I felt safer. $15 cover charge which includes a ticket for a free drink which I used to get a bottle water. Small bottle of water, but still nice. I got there during the middle of the lesson in which I stood back and just watch. It was the super basic steps in which I already know so I didn't want to partake, plus I saw that there was not an uneven number of dudes so there's no need for me to jump in. Haha... I made it a goal for that night that if I danced 5xs then I will be happy to leave as I was not feeling the best. I did dance 5xs, and then I left. I'm glad that I got to salsa danced in Hawaii, but it's definitely not as fun as salsa dancing back home in California. Lol.. Not much people there. Mostly couples who are complete newbs. Lol also the floor is pretty sticky, which is kinda gross. The bathrooms are clean and nice though!

The venue immediately reminded me a little of the Hollywood Bowl, but on a much smaller and somehow even more charming scale. With Diamond Head rising in the background, the views are absolutely spectacular and give the whole experience a distinctly Hawaiian sense of place. I was also impressed by how good the acoustics were, especially in an outdoor venue. It's very easy to access from the main Waikiki hotel area, which makes getting there surprisingly convenient. Between the music, the atmosphere, and the scenery, it ended up being one of those memorable Honolulu evenings that really sticks with you.

Honestly the last time that I've been back to the Waikiki Shell is my graduation o_O woah....though I could be wrong but sadly I don't get out very much but thanks to Nadine who asked if I was interested in a concert which I really was made me so happy to return and experience it all under the stars. Parking is always an issue but luckily we got there early...early enough to find one right away as it fills up quickly which you'll have to park at the next lot which can be a distance that we didn't want. What I wasn't prepared for was the wait as the time to enter was delayed by 30 minutes I did wished that I knew you could bring your own water just as long it's in a plastic bottle though there was lots of food options there it was spread out so far I wished there was just a single place to order but I was already exhausted from waiting that all I wanted to do was find our seats. Nadine selected great seats right in the center and close enough that we're able to see the concert well, bathrooms are at the front gate and I noticed there was another one on the opposite side as well, it's nice to have an open air atmosphere gave it a nice relaxing vibe. Thank you!

While checking IDs, the security guard squeezed my wrist and physically handled women in a way that made both me and my friend extremely uncomfortable. We also witnessed behavior toward women that came across as disrespectful and emotionally intimidating. There is absolutely no reason for a security guard to squeeze a guest's wrist or physically handle women in this manner. This is completely unacceptable and made us feel unsafe. Is this really the type of person you want representing your club? I strongly believe management needs to take this complaint seriously, investigate what happened, review any available security footage, and take appropriate disciplinary action. I would appreciate a response regarding how this incident will be addressed. If this behavior is confirmed, I do not believe this individual should continue representing your establishment.

The Studio At Hawaiian Brian's Let me start off by saying-…read moreI'm trying to be helpful. I'm not a write 1 negative review and never come back to Yelp- I do have over 500 reviews as of writing this- so I would appreciate not having negative comments coming back to me as this is only my humble opinion both as a reviewer and a aficionado of great music. I like the space, it is unique in that it is so small. That isn't negative- it lets the audience be right there with the band and the band can clearly see the reactions of faces of fans and hopeful fans. This is a real confidence raiser for those on open mic night to be able to see a crowd enjoy their music. Did I mention it is small? Even as small as it is- there is a large bar facing the bandstand. In a way - it is hard for fans to get used to, There are 2 large eye focuses. The bar or the bandstand. I don't know why there are two focal points- is it to keep people for going in and out during a concert? There are other smaller mobile bars that they have in other areas -like Crossroads. But it is a large bar compared to the stage. Do be aware though of what kind of band you are paying for in advance. It can be disappointing if you pay what I would consider full price for a show and it is less than you expected. Google/ Facebook/ Amazon the band and then you should have a better idea of the bands quality- because they are playing in a realllllllly small venue. If you don't want to pay for a small venue show -then wait. I have been to about 50 different music venues in Austria and Germany and seen many different types of shows- from classical to modern music, and the venue really does influence your experience. Depending on the band- I like having a small small venue to hear them- it is not a coffeehouse feel where there is a phsishhhshshsh sound every 2 minutes so the sound quality is better than coffee houses - but has the feel of a coffee house where you can drink. I think the Safehouse/ Republik is a better venue - comparing Honolulu venues to Honolulu venues. My advice is still to know what band it is you are going to see and enjoy the band you are going to see- regardless of the venue because supporting local artists is a wonderful way of promoting local music.

The Studio is a small bar located as the first door on your right once you enter Hawaiian Brians. You don't need to go passed security checking your ID so it's definitely good for those who aren't legal. Did I mention it's really small? I was here for an EP Release party, another band and an independent musician and his friend opened up for them that night. This was a great example of the talent Hawaii has to offer. If you really like to be in an intimate settings where you can be as close to the band as possible without possibly hurting your ear drums this is the place. The space is very chill, people come and sit at the tables, grab a drink at the bar, stand. It probably won't be as intimate if your friend's band is extremely popular. If that were the case you should tell your friends to consider the Crossroads which is the larger venue in Hawaiian Brians. If you don't like live music, or people, or need your space at all times, I don't think these places are for you. If you're into live music, like people and have the opportunity to catch a conversation with the people making music you like than definitely stop by. There's always these kinds of events happening at the Studio and at Hawaiian Brian. I suggest you check out if you want to get into the Hawaii music scene, this place is a start.

I informed John that the drink was too sweet and asked if I could exchange it for the Mai Tai. Instead of exchanging it, he suggested that I start with three limes and add more if needed. I hesitated but gave it a try. Unfortunately, it was still too sweet, and even my sister agreed. The manager, Johnny, eventually came over and said they could exchange the drink. However, the replacement was completely different from the first Mai Tai I had. It had such a strong bitter smell that my sister could smell it from across the table. The drink was also served in a regular glass and, honestly, was not enjoyable at all. I ended up leaving the $10 drink on the table because I couldn't drink it. I understand that everyone's taste is different, but I felt disappointed with how the situation was handled. I would have preferred to simply have the drink exchanged for the same Mai Tai I originally enjoyed. Unfortunately, based on this experience, if I return to Hawaii, I don't think this is a place I would visit again.
