I used to go to the Hagan St location 2-3 times a week because it was convenient and I LOVED the chai and bakery. My husband and I just went for the first time since they moved to the new location on Grandview and it was an AWFUL experience to the point where we won't be going back. Line was long, but it's always been long so that didn't bother us too much. When we ordered we got 2 pastries and a split baguette with eggs and bacon. No espresso drinks or anything else. We got out pastries when we paid and then proceeded to wait 45 mins for a toasted baguette with eggs and bacon. Then when they finally had it ready the girl slammed it on the counter very rudely when my husband didn't come within 5 seconds of her calling our name. When we got home the split baguette was COVERED in a pound of butter and there was hardly any egg (equivalency of maybe half an egg) on a large split baguette. They moved there for more space, but it seems like they didn't actually expand operations. Just got more space to have a longer line and longer wait times. read more

This place has been on my list of places to try for a long long time and I finally got a chance to. We went early on a weekday morning so they had everything available. Definitely came for the cinnamon roll but couldn't resist also getting a savory pastry so tried the ham and cheese croissant too. The cinnamon roll was next level, so dense, so good, I wish I had grabbed another to go! The place is cute, with a decent number of tables inside as well as a few outside. My only wish is that they would heat up the pastries because I think if this cinnamon roll was warm it would be perfection. Also, the parking lot does require a ticket placed in your car, but it's free for the first hour and had plenty of spots. read more

First there's a huge outdoor eating area and I am here on a perfect day - mid 70s and mixed sun and clouds - and no one is eating outside. Why? It's a white cement parking lot with tables and chairs and and zero umbrellas or plants. You walk out there and it's blindingly bright. Maybe they're worried about the wind here? Then invest in industrial umbrellas. And get plants and look civilized. Also: acoustics inside are really bad and they're playing loud music even though it's all people taking time to drive here and talk with one another but you have to struggle to get through. The split baguette exceeded expectations! And the coffee was amazing as well. We came on a Tues around 11 and it was pretty busy but we were able to get a seat right away. Unfortunately when we got there they were out of their focaccia sandwich already. So we got the small split baguette (one with egg and another with avocado) and the soup and sandwich combo (soup was Spanish inspired and the sandwich was a baguette with salami). The quality of the baguette was sooo good. Airy on the inside and crispy but not too crispy on the outside. The avocado topping was pretty standard. The eggs though... Omg. The texture was amazing. So custardy and delicious. The soup was good but nothing amazing. We also got an Americano and a seasonal latte that had basil in it. It isn't a secret that this place is awesome. Highly recommend all that I have tried... the toffee/coffee pie, chocolate croissants, sourdough bread and oatmeal sandwich bread. Funny though, we don't think the oatmeal sandwich bread makes good sandwiches...however, it makes amazing buttered toast for breakfast with runny eggs or with honey. Dozen is THE place to get your carb/baked good fix in the Nashville area. Have come here a few times for primarily takeout (though there is some seating inside, it's a bit crowded for my taste). On the weekends, expect a long line (but ridiculously cheerful and timely service!) On the weekdays, this is a good place to do work, caffeinate, and munch on some things, particularly when the weather is nice and you can sit outside. THE thing to get here is anything on their amazing bread, and my favorites of my orders was anything I got on their "crusty on the outside but soft and chewy on the inside" perfect baguette (the salami sandwich being the best of the bunch.) The sweet baked goods are good (nothing standout to me, though they have some interesting flavors). That said, the savory asparagus galette is so underrated and NOT to be missed. Perfectly cooked & seasoned asparagus, parm, and flaky pastry -- what more could you want?? I thought the lemon-lavender pie was also a hit - really perfectly balanced tart, sweet, light, floral, with a flaky crust. This is definitely a place to get your coffee fix if you care about a good cup of brew. I've tended to stick to lattes but the coffee is so awesome and the guy who typically seems to be at the coffee station moves quickly, happily, delivering joy in caffeinated form to each customer individually. I found myself cheered up just by standing in his presence and watching him work, while I waited for my food. There's just really just pleasant service / atmosphere here. There's limited street parking but also a parking lot for customers who don't like to parallel park (ie me). All in all, amazing quality without the nonsense frill of many Nashville brunch places. I love dozen bakery. Everything -- ESPECIALLY THE BREAD -- is absolutely amazing. We had the eggs and butter on a split baguette, and while simple, was absolutely amazing! I love that the eggs are always soft scrambled and well seasoned. I also appreciate that the bread is tender enough that your teeth can easily tear the crust without you having to really work for it. All of their bread is fantastic. I bought a loaf to go it was so good. The chai wallah mix that they use is fantastic as well. The menu is small, but I think that's it's better for restaurants have only a few options that are all fantastic than have more choices and some aren't as great. They have a decent number of vegetarian options, especially given their limited menu size. NOTE: if you come in late, they will run out of most items. If you have your heart set on a particular menu item, it's best to get there earlier. read more

This spot is the real deal. As I devoured my ham and cheese croissant and iced lavender lemon latte I thought to myself "Is this how Parisians feel?" If so, I want to channel that feeling more. My friend and I stopped by for a weekend brunch and upon arriving noticed a sizeable line but there were plenty of tables and it seemed that most people were grabbing boxes of goodies to-go. I'm addition to the breakfast after walking by their glass window with all their beautiful looking pies, bars, scones and cookies I could not leave without getting something else. I got a peanut butter and chocolate chip cookie to go (which of course were divine). Came here on a rainy weekend and can say that we have found our favorite local bakery. When you walk in its a nice modern feeling with some cool rustic wood/glass in the back that you can watch them bake their goods. Really enjoyed the peach pie, and almond croissant I had. Also had the chance to try their coffee and a bite of a chocolate raspberry croissant which did not disappoint. Their croissants we're both some of the best/most delicious pastries I've ever tried. It was my first time visiting Dozen Bakery, and I was blown away! I got the Focaccia Egg Sandwich with ham, and it was absolutely so flavorful. The focaccia is nice and fresh with a sweet sticky crust. The portion of egg was so generously and high quality. The eggs were topped with melted cheddar cheese. On top of the cheese was freshly chopped dill and scallions with added a great freshness and contrast to the rich ham. You definitely need to try the egg sandwich, but you have to be there early because they only sell a limited quantity everyday! I also got a cardamom cherry latte. I really enjoyed the latte, but I thought it was lacking the cherry flavor. However, I did not mind since the coffee itself had great flavor. Went to Nashville with a bunch of friends to visit local friends and watch a Blink 182 concert. This was the highlight of all the food we had in Nashville for my hubs and me. So grateful that my hubs ordered it lmao bc I picked out the kouign amann (bc hi, kouign amannnn hnnggh) and one of the savory scones. My picks were good, but the tartine was AMAZING lol. I had the strawberry thyme iced latte and kouign amagn and both were phenomenal you definitely have to try them, the kouign amagn was so light and fluffy. There was a line right when they opened at 7am on a tuesday, but the line moved quick and getting my latte and breakfast sandwich was also fast. The focaccia egg sandwich has great flavors and the focaccia itself was enjoyable. I really like the feel of the place, it was sleek and comfortable and it's cool you can see the bakers making doughs in the back!The staff was also very nice. All the breads & pastries looked delicious, I wanted to order one of each. I ordered a chai latte & the focaccia egg sandwich which were both tasteful. My friend ordered the golden milk latte (iced) & an egg sandwich. The service was positive & efficient. Be prepared for a longer line if you visit on the weekend, seating is first come first serve so you have to move quick or keep an eye out for a table packing up.
