I bought a refrigerator four years barely ever used it. The compressor broke the store told me I had a 10 year warranty but it actually cost me $1200 to replace the compressor.! I just called as a prospective customer because I wanted to give them a chance to explain. I expressed my concern over the numerous negative reviews of this company and spoke to sales. The attitude was immediately defensive and aggressive rather than apologetic or understanding and rather than attempting to assure me that those complaints were unusual, the sales guy's attitude turned nasty and he just blew me off with, "We'll, we can't please everyone!" We have been loyal Gloucester customers for decades. We had to have a microwave oven replaced. We were billed $275 for less than 30 minutes to remove the old microwave and install the new one. Most companies deliver at no charge. And they should not have taken away the unit as we needed proof for insurance purposes, which the sales person was aware of. We called to dispute the bill. Nothing was done by Doyon's. We should have checked out their poor Yelp ratings before we bought again from them. But naively trusted them. We will not be using this company ever again. read more

Well first off, I wish I had the reviews before placing my order. We like to shop local so we have been buying appliances with Doyon's for over 30 years, first in Reading MA and these past 5 years Gloucester MA. On Nov 14 I went to Doyons to look at dishwashers, Bill the sales associate was very helpful, he found three options that worked with my old paneled dishwasher, he emailed the links to me so I could compare them and look them over. The following week I called and placed my order to be delivered Nov 30. I never got the call the day before to let me know what the delivery window would be. So I called first thing in the morning of delivery day and talked to Bill he gave me the time and I asked him if Doyon's would take the old dishwasher away and he informed me that they do not install the appliance. I would need a plumber and they would need to change the panels. I asked why I was not told this and he said "I tell everyone." Which I did not appreciate, so now I am a liar? I was not told at all, even after talking to Bill two times and on the third time because I asked he finally told me. I then went back to look at the web site and it states on the Website that they take great pride in Delivery and Installation. I am said to state I will not be shopping here again. Why go locally when they will not install the appliance and you can probably get it cheaper at a bigger chain. Very Disappointed. read more

Purchased a new Maytag refrigerator in May 2020 Door doesn't fit properly - delivered this way "defect" "Sweating" inside of refrigerator due to improper sealing - have to wipe out the shelves daily. I asked for a new refrigerator but they said it's out of stock and is on backorder. They ordered a new door instead. I'm still waiting. We contacted them at least five times and was told the manager would get back to us. She-he never did. It's now August 2020 and no word from anyone. I just contacted them today August 21st. No word on a replacement door. How is this right? You spend over $1000.00 on a product. It doesn't work properly from day one and three months later no one is interested in helping you. This is inexcusable. I own a service business and I would be ashamed of myself if I treated a customer this way. This is amongst the worst service I've ever experienced. As much as I want to support local business, my recommendation is to shop elsewhere. I've never experienced such neglect, next time it's Home Depot or Lowes. read more

We received a call from Doyon's on December 20th informing us that if we did not remove our prior review (date 12/15/17), they would refuse to provide the scheduled repairs on the refrigerator. Although we certainly would like a working refrigerator ASAP, we chose not to remove the review. Before purchasing an appliance from this company, be sure to read the reviews of both the Gloucester and Reading locations. Doyon's gets very high marks for sales; it's their service after the sale that is lacking. Evidently they are happy to sell you an appliance, but less willing to stand behind it. read more

My husband really believes in staying local and buying good quality. We have been loyal customers for the appliance purchases. The latest purchase was for a Bosch dishwasher. The salesman asked if it was hard wired or plug in and we answered plug in. The dishwasher arrived and we were called to pick it up. We brought it home and it sat in our living room for 2 weeks. It didn't come with a cord and the cord wasn't ordered. We picked it up on a Saturday. Had to call Monday to inquire about the cord. I was told it's inside the machine in the top rack. Nope. So I call back and they say they will order one that will be in later in the week and usually it costs money but since we weren't told that it didn't come with one they will cover it. I finally call that Friday to find that no one ordered it and this person was planning to order it and charge me. The cord finally came and there was no charge because I spoke up. Annoying to have a dishwasher in my living room for 2 weeks but I can live with that. Then soon after, my Speed Queen washing machine had an issue. I was told when I purchased it that it was the industrial model, the ones all the hotels use. Therefore it had a 5 year warranty. Doyons came for the repair in February and it went fine. Last week I had another issue with the washer so I set up a service appointment. The service dept soon calls back to inform me that my warranty was only 3 years (purchased in 2016). I noted that it was just repaired in February and was told that yes it was but they didn't get reimbursed and they will eat that because they told me it was a 5 year warranty and their mistake. But now they called Speed Queen to be sure and only the motor and transmission are covered. It's frustrating to be lied to or for the salesmen to have the incorrect information. Not sure what happened but either way I won't waste my time there again. read more

I recently purchased a Fridge from Doyan's, I found the sales person very knowledgeable and helpful and was able to answer all my questions and provide multiple options to meet my requirements. I was even more impressed with the post purchase follow up and delivery. Doyan's worked with me to schedule a convienent delivery window. I received both a text and email confirming the delivery window the night before and also a call from the driver about 30 min prior to arriving at my home. The delivery crew was professional and took great care with both the removal of my old fridge and instalation of the new fridge. They were conscientious made sure they complied with all the COVID guidelines. I could have not been happier with the crew or delivery. I had a few questions after instalaton with the lead on the delivery the crew was able to answer and also provided contact information at Doyan's ,if I should have any additional questions or needs. It was such a great experience all around and not the impersonal experience I have had in the past with a big box stores. Many of the big box stores use sub contractors for delivery who don't take the same care or have the knowledge that the Doyan's crew had. I would highly recommend using Doyan's for any of your appliance needs. read more

I like to patron local businesses. I went here ready to buy a microwave. The sales person was rude and did not take the time to answer questions. I wanted an LG model and they only had one on display. Instead of talking about other options he told me to go home and look/ order online. What??? Why would I bother going here again? I have bought over the past 3 years a new refrigerator, stove, dishwasher and microwave. I have had nothing but problems with any appliance I bought.. oh yeah since the warranty is only for a year and I didn't purchase additional insurance - I am forced to pay for the repairs. $139.00 service call for the 1st appliance and $99.00 for every appliance after that!!!! not counting the parts. A new washer/dryer were delivered to us on a miserable winter day. Two guys, Mike Dix, and Ken, delivered the stuff in the snow, into an ancient house, up to the second floor. Heavy work. They were professional, cooperative, courteous, and pleasant to have in the house. They went about their work, again with professional direct attention. We were glad to have them work with us. Mike and Ken are assets to Doyon's and do the organization credit. We'll go back to Doyon's because of guys like Mike and Ken. read more

I am astounded at how incredibly inept this company is. I made an appointment telling them I had a gas stove that had a gas leak. They verified that we did have a plumber there and the leak was not the pipes, but the stove. Was given a 5 hour window in which they might arrive, 5 hours. Imagine if you were an accountant and told a client, I will see you some time between 12 and 5, but I wont tell you when. since I work,, and I work an hour from the house, I asked for a smaller window, and finally settled for a phone call 1/2 hour before they arrived. I called 2x between 3 and 5, only to be told they would check with the technician, and get back to me, which they never did. at 4:45, they pulled up to the house, without me ever getting a phone call. Technician was clueless, I think he though he was there for a thermocouple or something. Didn't bring a gas sniffer (standard tool for finding a gas leak) didn't even bring the soap bubble solution, asked if he could use some dawn dish soap. Didn't have the replacement parts, completely useless. Got the manager on the phone, he told me he could have someone there in 6 days, but, this time instead of a 5 hour window, it was sometime between 9 and 5, couldn't do any better becaouse of already scheduled appointments. Bottom line, the manager was rude and arrogant, the repairman who showed up was clueless and lacked the tools to do the job requested, I took a half day off of work, and the stove still has an issue. Avoid this company like the plague, I wouldn't recommend them to clean out the crumbly bits that fall under the burner. read more

This is the very first place that you should start when shopping for an appliance. I don't know about their repair service because I haven't used it, but sales, service and installation were amazing! I didn't even have to set foot in the store, I just shopped for the appliance (dryer) I wanted online, then called them up to see if they carried it and for how much. I wanted full-service installation and I also like to support local businesses which is why I called them. Not only was their price exactly what I found "down the line", but they delivered and installed within 3 days, when the big box stores were quoting 6 - 10. But the best part was the installation experience. They showed up when they said they would and went above and beyond getting my dryer to fit into a very tight spot. They spent extra time making sure I was happy with the door swing, and carted off my old dryer for less than the big boxes charge. Do yourself a favor and start with Doyon's - they carry the good stuff for a fair price and they're a pleasure to work with! read more

Yes, the staff, save our sales person, was a bit distant, but I much prefer that to the "fall all over you" approach of most stores. Purchased a new grill from them which was delivered while I was away despite asking them to call ahead of time, to which they had agreed. Grill was missing some parts (understandable mistake) bit did not include a receipt. I made several calls to Doyon's in addition to emailing the contact from whom I originally purchased the grill.
