The baristas were super friendly. Lots of space for meeting up with a friend or working solo. One wall is mostly just windows. Background music is a random mix of indie folk guitar stuff. For those who are looking for a coffee shop that stays open after 3 pm on the weekends, this is your spot because they close at 7 pm. Lots of things that I like in a coffee shop. Walking into the parlor of the Monastic Home is like walking into one of those cozy "oldies playing another room but it's raining outside" YouTube videos, except that it's real. Between Hannah's excellent decorating skills (tip: everything you see is for sale!) and the mix of 1930s and 1940s music humming in the background, it's impossible not to settle into a chair and make yourself at home. The hostess of the home, Hannah, is just as equally warm & welcoming. Hannah offers a unique and delicious array of pastries and sandwiches. My cousin and I just about took one of everything; our favorites were the olive oil loaf (trust me, it's good!), raspberry jam bar, and Scottish shortbread. We also ordered lattes with a syrup recommended by Hannah.
