I went to Doya yesterday for my friends birthday, the food was amazing, the drinks delicious, the server very nice and polite at all times. But unfortunately the hostess Maria gave us the worst treatment ever. First she wouldn't stop looking at the phone while talking to us, they changed our reservation time last minute, when the birthday girl got there they didn't let her sit and have drinks because the whole party wasn't there yet, only half of the people. They gave our table away and told us to wait. My friend was very upset because it was her birthday and they just gave us a hard time. Tough call I think the owner needs to read and improve things. 1- the entrance has many pots and the door doesn't open correctly or stay open. They need to fix the whole entrance. 2- the staff are not trained. During heavy rain today, there was chaos. Nobody knew how to bring the guests in properly. Selfish people were blocking the door and nobody was in control of the process. People getting outside were getting poured on with heavy heavy rain. I had an altercation and I was not happy. The other guest wanted to fight me when he was totally impolite. Nobody apologized and nobody was in control of the situation. I am disappointed. 3- the food items are a hit or miss. The kofte was amazing. The eggplant salad, the kopoglu were not good. One was meh, lacked the eggplant smell, the other was too saucy and was more Americanized. Tasted more like Iskender kebab's sauce, which it is not. The rice was good. The bread was good and fluffy. Manti was not ok. They used sour yoghurt which is more Eastern style and no garlic. No salt at all on any dishes. Don't Turkish people learn that salt is important? Saltbae is so famous for specifically that one can learn! The baklava was terrible. I would like to give credit for trying to make "Sönmüs kireç kaymaginda pismis balkabagi tatlisi" but the presentation sucks. It was given in a dog food bowl, and the quantity was too much, and it was too sugary, not enough tahini to balance the sweetness. Pachanga was great. They forgot to deliver the lentil meatballs. 4- they brought the dishes in the wrong order. But although I asked for the order to be mezes, warm mezes then mains, they said it was not possible. So we got dishes that were creamy, koftes, then more creamy dishes and manti and then of course dessert. 4- I had stomach pain all night after the meal and indigestion because of the weird order the food was served. 5- zombie servers. One zombie server popped up at our table as we were having the dessert, tried to place the complimentary bread and olives. We tried to communicate with him but he didn't speak any English. 6- the restaurant seems unsupervised and nobody seems to be in control of what is going on. 7- our Greek waiter was excellent and knew how service needs to be done but the other people are random kamikazes delivering the wrong stuff and don't know what needs to be done when from door entrance to using your brain and knowing that someone eating dessert obviously should not be served olives again! 8- the decor is really nice. Congratulations to the owners for creating a nice looking restaurant. That is worthy of coming to, with no kilims hanging on the ceiling and walls. 9- the drinks were good last time I was here too. No complaints on that side. 10- early on some meat dishes like Urfa and Doya Kebab are not available. 11- there are random people with laptops. Laptops should be banned. It is not an internet cafe. 12- there is a story missing for this restaurant. By the bathroom there are some pictures but there is no story. 13- the menu is too large. I would reduce the menu size so they can improve the dishes. 14- the personnel need to eat the food they are serving. It is a bit shocking to hear that they haven't tried the dishes! The ambiance was upbeat, and aesthetically it was a lovely place . Can dress up or casual aswell. All dishes are shareable for two. We had 6 in total and it was a lot. I've liked Doya in the past but this visit left me disappointed. The restaurant still has great service and the comfortable vibe remains but the food was lackluster. We tried a few Hummus Appetizers and both were okay. A Pastrami Hummus was salty and dry and Beet Hummus was forgettable. The worst dish was the Kofte and I really was surprised with how bad it was. The texture was off and the grittiness of the beef and salt were the dominating flavors. The best item (and really the only thing that was good) was a Kasseri Cheese Pide and this brought a pretty bad meal into mediocrity. A very solid and tasty Mediterranean mezze (small plates) spot in Miami's wildly colorful Wynwood neighborhood. We had zucchini and spinach pancakes with yogurt and dill sauce, broiled chicken thigh, Cretan feta chock full of walnuts and pistachios (a must if you're a nut lover like me), borani (spinach, rice and yogurt dish), Turkish sucuk beef sausages and Estrella beer. Each one of these dishes ranged from tasty to downright delicious. The only disappointment was the taramasolata, which was so salty that it was almost inedible. The restaurant was very crowded and a bit noisy, but servers, manager and host all were friendly and worked hard to serve everyone. We had to remind our server about a couple of missing dishes, but he was apologetic and brought them a bit later. The restaurant seemed a bit understaffed. The food, drinks and atmosphere at Doya combine to make a perfect addition to Miami's restaurant scene. The bar here is so cool that we opted to sit there instead of a table but the overall vibe in the dining room is very chic. We got some tasty cocktails and haydari yogurt with bread to start. It was a bit crowded on a hot Staurday but we were sat smack dab in the action of the kitchen, staff was very helpful and the vibes were on point. Started off with the Shaved Zucchini. Fresh, lividly and full of flavor. My favorite, with a pita was the Spicy Yogurt..mmmmm sooo good! Off the Miami Spice menu, we had to get some Saganaki, it was nice and warm contrast to the yogurt. They paired well to me for some reason. We really went all out with the Lahmacun, a ground beef crunch pizza with parsley and onions. Spicy for some but was another great dish. In addition, we ordered Kofte, or grilled Turkish meatballs, tender meat with their side of grained rice that felt like it was made by grandma in her kitchen haha. While grandma made the rice, it seemed like the homemade Pistachio Baklava was made with love by mom to finish it all off. We found this place randomly on a Saturday night being in the area. I'm not too familiar with restaurants in Wynwood therefore I did a quick search of restaurants near me, read a few reviews, then decided on Doya. It's definitely a cute, low key, spot for date night. They have many traditional Mediterranean dishes. We had the grilled octopus and branzino ceviche as starters. I recommend the branzino. I had the skirt steak with fries as my meal, and my husband had the adana kebap. He didn't enjoy the kebap but we both loved the steak, and even the fries were delicious but just an fyi, they don't stock ketchup at the restaurant. The lighting is low, the music is moderate, there is indoor and outdoor seating, the decor is Mediterranean quaint, yet chic and the main bar inside is huge. Have visited several times, the service and food seems to get worse each time. Will not return. This latest visit i call for a reservation, the hostess turns me down. I go on opentable reservations were available at any time of my choosing. I arrive, plenty of tables available. We place our drink order, the waitress is very persistent about taking the food order. We place our full order, all but one dish arrived within 10-15 minutes. The dishes were okay, not as good as previous times, shrimp/meatballs/a few dipping/ sauces/etc. We had one dish pending, a steak and fries. We bring it to the attention of the waitress. She says should be out soon, we order second round of drinks. We ask her a second time, she gives an excuse. She comes back a third time asks us if steak has not arrived, get another excuse. Another waiter sees the table empty, i tell him we have been waiting 40 minutes no steak, cancel the order, and give us the check. He insist not to cancel the order, by this point im annoyed, it takes another 10 minutes to bring the medium steak and fries. I tell them to pack it up as we no longer want to eat it. They offer a free desert to compensate for the 50 minute late $35 steak, the dessert was terrible, went elsewhere for s desert. The experience was upsetting, especially for $250. We also ordered the Greek salad (excellent feta). And the artichokes to start. I think the least memorable dish were the artichokes and was nothing to write home about. We then shared the koftes, manti, octopus and the saganaki. My background is Armenian so we grew up eating homemade middle eastern food. The meatballs were good. The octopus was delicious and tender but didn't come with any side whatsoever. Not even a little garnish or anything. I thought the dish could use that to really complete it or make it a standalone dish. The mante tasted good and the yogurt was delicious but the dish Itself was smothered in yogurt. This restaurant easily jumped to my top 5 restaurants in Miami. The service was incredible, you can tell the restaurant must be family owned or managed. The ambience is wonderful, we sat in the garden and it was beautiful, I loved the string lights and the cozy feel- perfect for a date night. The indoor bar is also gorgeous. Everything is mezze/family style which is my favorite type of restaurant because you get to try a little bit of everything. The standouts were the cauliflower, truffle pide, house salad, pastrami hummus and grilled octopus. Quite possibly the worst dining experience I've had in Miami in my lifetime. To start, upon entering the restaurant (at 7:13 for our 7:15 res) the hostess told us she accidentally gave away our table and said we would be the next to be seated. We proceeded to wait for 45 minutes (while watching other groups get seated) until finally the manager got involved and got us a table. The food was good, but not spaced out at all. Every dish arrived at same time and it was a total mess. They charged us $12 (without asking or alerting us) for 3 pieces of pita with the dips we ordered. The manager comped us 15% for our troubles, which was nice, but the bad experience was not over yet! We had valeted our car and called for it in advance (as instructed). When we got outside, the valet told us our car was on the way out... a few mins later we see him on the phone concerned - he asks us what color our car is and license plate cause his colleague couldn't locate it. We see the car across the street parked.... The man didn't even give the right keys to the man who was supposedly getting our car. We pointed out the car and he then offered us the key (insinuating that we should just go get the car ourselves) and said "that'll be $20." We laughed at his face, so he decided to cross the street and bring us the car and then still insisted on the $20 charge - even though it took them ~15 minutes to realize they hadn't lost our vehicle. Brace yourselves for a long review! The only reason I am even giving them two stars is because the food was genuinely good. My group had a reservation and we were a party of 9. First off we weren't seated till well after our reservation time. I felt that we were very patient and understanding with that matter. We were seated and our table spilt up into two groups. One that would order meat dishes and the other just vegetarian. As it is a small plates/shared dishes kind of restaurant we felt that this would be the best option. I was in the group ordering meat dishes. The server(whose name I didn't get) first took our drink orders. One of my friends wanted hot water. The server said that they don't have the facilities to make hot water but they have tea? How does this make any sense as you need hot water to make tea... Well anyways she ordered the tea but never received it! Secondly, when asked what kind of water we wanted everyone in our group except for one girl wanted just regular water with no ice in it. The waiter proceeded to still bring us water with ice in it and poured it for all of us. We didn't really say anything because we didn't want to make a big deal about it. Our waiter overheard that one girl wanted water without ice so he took her glass and said he'd wait for the ice to melt. Then he dumped out the water brought the glass plus his own personal water bottle and proceeded to pour water form his own bottle in the glass! Quit outrageous I know! Last, we asked for more bread and they brought out the lavash bread which is an extra charge. We clarified and were given the house bread. However, we were charged for the lavash bread! And we paid the bill before realizing. Also since we were a large party there was an automatic 18% service charge. We didn't complain or say anything about our service because we were there for a friends birthday and didn't want to set the day on a bad note. However, the 18% service charge was not deserved and we were also charged for the extra bread which was taken back. We definitely had a bad experience due to the service and the lack of organization at Doya. It is just unfortunate though since the food was actually good. I had the Mykonos and loved it, one of our guests had a mocktail our server recommended and it was amazing and the rest of the night we ordered mezcal spicy margaritas and they were my favorite (not in the cocktail list).
