We came for a late dinner on a Saturday night and were delighted to find reservation availability for the 3 of us still. We were whisked inside to the intimate, dimly lit interior with a DJ table tastefully tucked away in the back of the space. Service was welcoming but overall, not quite as warm and attentive as I've experienced at other places in town. We started off with the Turkish Manti Dumplings, which were the standout of the night. The complexity yet restraint of flavor, balancing indescribable buttery, roasted, earthy notes with a touch of umami and subtle tanginess from the yogurt. The Mezze Sampler was a nice option for trying three of the dips. All very tasty, but I've had slightly better elsewhere. The Sweet Jeweled rice was the other standout with flavor and textural variety that made each bite pop. I found the Roasted Brussels Sprouts undercooked and lacking the same level of flavor as the other plates. The weakest dish of the evening. The Grilled Whole Bronzino got top marks from the meat eaters at the table. I do love this place for it ambience and service. I will say that it is a sister restaurant to another one that I went to for my birthday and I guess I came in with the mentality of comparing it and the food just wasn't all there. I had to return the plate that I had gotten. I'm sure that if I would've chosen something else, I would've been happy because the person that I went with did very much enjoy their meal. I think it's worth it but maybe doing a little bit more research on what to get. To say that the person I was with had the Bronzino and it was delicious. Drinks are also good as well. like anything in Miami parking is a little difficult, we made reservations and we were sat right away. This was my first time trying Byblos and it did not disappoint. The Miami Spice Menu was a 3 course tasting menu. It includes an appetizer, entree, and dessert. For appetizers I enjoyed the Octopus, Dumplings, and Duck Kibbeh. For Entrees the rock shrimp rice was excellent. Lamb rack was tender and succulent. The cocktails were handcrafted and refreshing. Absolutely fantastic experience. I live in California, and we have lots, and lots, and lots of good restaurants that are Mediterranean based. This is more Lebanese/Turkey based. Came with a large group and stayed until midnight. The appetizers were simply amazing. Try the octopus and the duck kibbeh. The octopus was tender, which is rare imo given that most chefs have no clue how to cook this delicious food. For my main, I ordered the branzino, pictured here, which was the best branzino I've ever had. Also perfectly cooked, spiced, with just the right amount of lemon. Tried a Chardonnay from Lebanon which paired perfectly with my meal. The service and ambiance were both outstanding. Loved the decor of the restaurant, and the love and attention that was shown throughout the presentation of the food. You can tell everyone loves working here, and that they love their food. We came here for Miami Spice, so this review will be about that menu. The food was absolutely epic. The flavors dish after dish left us wanting to order the regular size. The duck kibbeh was as the table's favorite, very rich, intense flavor, and just something you don't get anywhere else. Followed very closely by the lamb ribs, they were tender, flavorful and seriously perfectly cooked. Another outstanding dish. And last, the red beets with the feta cheese spread was amazing too. Everyone was amazed by the sophistication of the flavors here. Again, something to don't find just anywhere. The one thing that was lacking were the dessert options. I mean, to say that you hate a dessert!? That's how bad these were. The mint ice cream didn't really hit the mark, and the "baklava" was more like a pastry roll. And the fried cheesecake was plain awful. The service was decent. Not over the top, but not neglectful either. I would say that I mentioned in our reservation that we had a birthday at the table. And they clearly dismissed it and we had to ask for it after they brought the dessert. As for the ambiance, beautiful. The space has this homey vibe to it. The lighting is low. Byblos is proof that the semi-scam environment of a hotel restaurant can coexist peacefully with fine dining. We started with cocktails at the bar. $47!? For a glass of wine and a cocktail?! OK, but what ambience! Great lowkey, unobtrusive but skilled bartending, and an interesting, instagrammable cocktail. Then out into the beautiful oasis of a garden for dinner, shielded from the hubbub of Collins Ave by a high hedge. For food, I had a smattering of vegetarian small plates - a tomato salad with feta, Turkish manti dumplings, a cauliflower with saffron and pistachio gremolata, and sweet jeweled rice. My husband concentrated on the middle eastern fried chicken, served with pickles and a hot sauce he liked so much that he forced me to try it. Byblos is a little uncomfortable with the middle eastern mezze thing; wouldn't you rather have a steak? But I give them credit for gamely giving it a go, and the options were inventive and non-obvious. I've had way better middle eastern food, but middle eastern is just a mask that this upscale hotel is wearing to stand out from the row of other hotels on the strip. Byblos is really all about atmosphere, but in a way that doesn't feel unsubstantive. Waiters who know their job is to charm your pants off and love their craft. Palm fronds and fairy lights that remind you you're in a Koppen tropical climate zone. My husband and I came here for our first night of our first-ever trip to Miami, and I was secretly hoping it would help us take the measure of the place. Based on my subsequent three days in the city, I think Byblos exemplifies Miami at its best: life is a party, we're here to enjoy the finer things and impress people, and you can look at the price tag later. read more

On a recent work trip in Miami, a few of us and some clients decided to try out this place. We decided to do family style and share a little bit of everything. The restaurant was a bit small but still had a decent amount of seats and we were able to get a table relatively quickly. This place is truly special. My partner and I came here with our kids and they were so welcoming, even with this being such a high end restaurant. We got a seat upstairs and enjoyed the trendy atmosphere. Downstairs, there is a clarinet player belting out middle eastern tunes. Though, he did make a quick appearance upstairs as well. The host brought our 2 little kids crayons and coloring books. It was so thoughtful. Our server was fantastic and recommended the perfect drinks throughout the night. My partner loves sweet drinks while I like mine hard and boozy ;) She recommended the perfect cocktails for us both. We also enjoyed one of our favorite cabernets from Paso Robles. For food, look no further than the short rib kebabs. This was easily the hit of the night. It's sad when restaurants like this try to culturally appropriate foods and backgrounds for their own game since the majority of their customer base won't and don't know the difference to speak up or avoid it. I came by on an invite with some friends and although I normally do look at menus, I didn't think I, a Lebanese-Armenian person, would have an issue with a restaurant called "Byblos" - named after the famous sea port of Lebanon. Only Lebanon. No other country. The website reads "our dishes showcase the regionally specific spices and flavours of the Eastern Mediterranean seaboard". Yet the menu doesn't focus on a "region" or "specific spices of the Mediterranean seaboard". They have "barbari bread" on the menu. Barbari bread is Iranian, nowhere near the Mediterannean. A "turkish kale" salad. Kale, or any of the ingredients in this "turkish salad" are not from turkey and are in no way "turkish". Persian feta is used. That's not even a real thing. Sujuk using "turkish paste"? Sujouk is Armenian. The entire middle east knows that sujouk is Armenian. My favorite is the "Atlantic salmon". I guess they're giving Atlantic salmon a vacation in the Med. For a restaurant named after a Lebanese city, the only outright named Lebanese item seems to be one or two bottles of wine. They can't even use Arabic or Armenian coffee in a "Byblos" cocktail. Our server was Arthur (Or Arturo) who was kind but it's clear he hasn't been informed by any person associated or not associated with this restaurant the true background of the Mediterranean and middle east. When asked about some of these concerns, he simply could not answer, but he is not to blame. I even posed these questions on Yelp's Q&A but the owners clearly weren't happy with the truth so they reported my question to be removed. Needless to say, I left hungry and went on to enjoy actual authentic food that paid proper respect to it's culture outside of this restaurant. Do better. read more

I am in Miami for a conference dining solo. Arthur was my server and he absolutely made my night by giving me the best suggestions and the friendliest service. I could tell he genuinely wanted me to enjoy the food and have a good evening at the restaurant. I tried the Sultan's Privilege cocktail which was lovely and perfect to sip throughout my meal. It had Johnnie walker black, cynar, crème de cacao, orgeat and fresh lemon juice. From the appetizer list, I had the Turkish Manti Dumplings (eggplant). The yogurt sauce and molasses provided a sweet touch to the mostly savory dish. I also had the lamb ribs, which just about blew my socks off. The garnish is dukkah, buttermilk sauce, carob molasses and red chili schughey- so, so good. I also ordered the Turkish Kale salad and finished that one off! The others were quite rich so I had leftovers, but because they were served sharing-style I was able to pass them along to someone. If I could come back I would try a wood-fired pide. I did have dessert- the Halva Parfait, which had such an interesting combination of flavors and textures. The halva was super high-quality and all of the embellishments went really well with it. The place is dimly lit and there is a DJ- the one there tonight was @aliciadellaria who was incredibly talented! There was a belly dancer with lights in her scarf. Great experience with an incredible Miami spice deal! The ambiance was beautiful and inviting and the food and service were excellent! This was my first time visiting and it was great from start to finish. My only meh experience was the baklava; it's stuffed with mint ice cream so be prepared for that. It wasn't a pleasant surprise. The strawberry dessert was a better selection. The lamb riblets are a little on the fatty end, but that's why I workout and it was worth every bite. My main dish was the fish and it was lite and tasty. The octopus was yummy. The duck appetizer was really yummy and my favorite. I was invited by one of my friends to The Bacardi rum room event being held here. This was actually my first time here oddly enough since I've probably passed by here a thousand times. The indoor outdoor ambiance was very nice once we got in. The event staff overall was a bit unorganized. We were in line for an hour before getting inside although we did RSVP. Once in however the bites were delicious, signature cocktails were really good, and the music and vibes were dope. Definitely have to go back to check it out on a non event day. read more

I really wanted to love this place. WE really wanted to love this place. The reservation was suspiciously easy to get for all the hype (about a week in advance but I am used to far worse in Miami) and we love this kind of good. In my mind this would be mostly Mediterranean style even though we knew it wasn't going to be straight up fish and tzatziki. We were advised that this was "small plates" so we ordered what we thought were some tapas-sized items, a few sides, and a big entree. It was way too much. And way too expensive. Do not order as much as we did, especially if you are just two people. Hummus - the hummus was good but the meat was very hard and oddly on the colder side. Turkish Dumplings - tasty but incredibly, incredibly heavy. Good for a few bites but do plan to share. Fries and dip - I think it was yogurt...fries were warm, but kinda limp. Carrots - very good, we needed a bite of freshness. Lamb for Two - also extremely heavy and rich. I needed way more pickled onion but I was so full by that point it didn't even matter. All that plus only one cocktail was over $250 and we barely got through 25% of the lamb. Again, maybe it was my expectation coming into it but I've never had Mediterranean (ish) food and felt so heavy and full of rich food after. Our semi-disappointment translated into a reservation at Mandolin the following evening for something much lighter. I'm not saying don't go, but all of the above is just something to be aware of so you come in with the right expectations. read more

Byblos is so so so delicious! So authentic yet innovative and modern. Just thinking about returning makes my mouth water. It's mostly Lebanese in spirit but I tasted touches of Turkey, Israel, maybe Morocco. They refer to themselves as south Mediterranean and I felt those vibes. The setting is casual yet elegant. It was fun to enjoy the DJ on a Saturday night and feel like you're in a chill club someplace exotic. Last few times we visited Byblos we got the 5 course tasting menu. It is a steal! We were 2 people and each tasting course consisted of 2 dishes. So for $110 per person we got to savor 10 dishes! That's a steal, especially in south beach. The wine pairing was an additional 45 a person. Again a total steal considering you start with a lovely glass of champagne, followed by 3 glasses of wine, finished with an amazing desert wine. We loved the salads, the amazing lamb (both the riblets coated in honey and pistachio and the lamb shoulder), the amazing dips with home made bread, the smoky roasted salmon, and the wonderful deserts. Everything was great and the service was impeccable- the staff changed our dishes after every tasting, were there for any request we had, and were overall incredibly attentive and warm. They did not skimp on their food as others did for miami spice. The service was excellent our servicer Jacque was great. He was friendly and very attentive. Absolutely stunning meal. I checked out this place for Miami Spice and was not disappointed! For $45 you can choose several appetizers, one main, one side, and one dessert. The downstairs dining room is more intimate and suited for couples; a DJ drives the mood music in the back of the restaurant as waiters lead groups to the second-floor airy dining room. There is also a speakeasy behind the DJ table. The hummus was sprinkled with pomegranate seeds and served with delicious spiced pita bread. The duck kibbeh were fried duck dumplings. Our favorite was the lamb ribs; one decadent chili oil wing for both of us! Main courses were middle eastern fried chicken and salmon; honestly the chicken takes the cake although the combination of tahini, za'atar, and hot sauce mainly made it to the piece at the top of the pile and not to the others. The roasted brussel sprouts made an amazing side with discs of halloumi cheese. Finally, the dessert of strawberry cheesecake qatayef which were like crispy cheesecake hot pockets. Probably one of the best Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food I've eaten in Miami thus far! (And that says a lot because I'm Middle Eastern myself). From the ambience to the service to delicious flavors that stay on your palate everything is cooked and served to Perfection! Entrees: we ordered the Turkish manti dumplings (sweeter taste), middle eastern fried chicken (omg so tender and perfect with breading to flour ratio), petite filet. And they all came with one side! So we got the persian kale rice (have to say was delicious, not because I'm Persian ), the cauliflower and the roasted Brussels sprouts. Dessert: we got the stuffed baklava, strawberry cheesecake qatayef (my fave and it's not your average looking cheesecake) and the sorbet. All for $45 per person! How can you beat that? Drinks-wise I ordered a mocktail version of one of their cocktails which is perfect since I don't drink. For my main course and side I got the Black Truffle rice and Thrice-cooked Fries, respectively. I must have gazed upon the gates of heaven after my first bite from the rice bowl because that was one of the tastiest truffle dish I've ever had! Plenty of chickpeas giving it a crunch with every bite really sealed the deal. The thrice-cooked fries were also amazing if you like super crispy fries. For dessert, I got the burnt honey ice cream. Cannot get enough of this Mediterranean oasis in south beach. Been here a few times and have never left with anything less than a fabulous night and great experience. The lamb, black truffle pide, black truffle rice, kebabs and baklava are all mouthwateringly delectable. That's a rare skill in Miami hospitality. The food and drinks are always good here. Lots of vegetarian options. I can't pick a favorite. Try them all. I prefer the seating upstairs. The music is Miami levels so you do need to speak loudly and the upstairs is better for audible conversation. Byblos is in a historic Art Deco beach front hotel. LOVE Byblos! Amazing food and one of the most consistent restaurants that has been in the beach for a long time! So many options to try but the favorites are Truffle Pide, Lamb Shoulder, Hummus, Beets, Rice, Ribs, turkish manti dumplings, etc. they are ALL delicious! read more
