Came here for an event, not a private one, just a regular night out, and the place was huge with the main bar totally packed. Thankfully there were quieter corners tucked away if you needed a break from the chaos. The crowd skewed younger, college types out to see and be seen, and the whole space leaned dark with TV screens throwing light straight at your face from every angle. This is not the spot for a quiet, intimate conversation. It's built for loud, drunken chatter with whoever's next to you, and honestly it delivers exactly that experience well. Came here for Lectures on Tap event in their private back room. The bartender was super nice! The drinks were good (I had wine and a G&T). I had nachos to eat and they were your standard pub food. The regular bar area was loud but then they started doing trivia and it quieted down. The private room was nice and blocked out the other bar noise. We understood that it was a Friday night and there was college kids all over, however, we didn't feel comfortable with the lack of motivation to clean from the staff. I have been coming to this place for a long time as well as all the other ones back to the days when Moe's Carribean was the old stumble inn this Monday I was in the area I decided to stop for some food because on the website it said 1/2 price food I went in to meet a group of friends who told me the same thing picked up menu went to the menu that was on every table that stated food was 1/2 off we ate then it was time for the check I noticed it was not what expected he said oh that promotion ended we have a new promotion the. Bartender was very nice he actually made my experience better but here we are I emailed the company on the website instead of writing a review but have yet been acknowledged if you put a menu out and it has wrong prices or wrong deals all it takes is a sharpie a sticker etc and website should be up to date also , no manager on duty to speak to us so just Becareful I won't be going back I'll continue to my other tow places stumble inn ,Jake's or 3 sheets over 20 years visiting these establishments read more

Came here for a private party. We didn't have any food but shut the bar down for open bar and had two summer interns DJ, so can't really judge what the typical food and music is like. But the drinks and space are pretty much exactly what you would expect from a dive bar - extraordinarily sticky floors (I think my shoes are permanently ruined) and mediocre drinks. Went here as a second option with my friends. Came here right when happy hour started on a Friday and can't complain, but the vibe changed. The food was okay bar food, nothing to hype about. Bartenders were great. Then the place started to get crowded and then there was a server going around taking orders, but not to our table. I really don't like it here, but my friends do. I came here pre-covid, got one drink and cashed out right away, tipped the bartenders $1 and moved on to the next spot. After I look at my credit card statement, the bartender changed the tip from $1 to $10! My drink wasn't even $10! Finally came back post-covid and they charge a $5 cash cover to get in now, lmao! I paid because again, my friends like this place for some reason. It's just a bunch of NYU kids so if thats your thing, have fun. Definitely a college bar- 13th step is a place that has enough space for a LARGE group. My classmates and I would often frequent 13th step after a high-stakes exam or to celebrate the end of a tough semester. Their drink specials make it pretty cheap, and they have a pretty large selection of drinks that you can't always find at other bars in New York (to my surprise, they had a rare but personal favorite liquor of mine, Rumplemintz). The only complaint that I have is that for all the space they have, they run out of seating relatively quickly because a lot of their tables are booths that can't be separated if there's a table of two sitting at them.
