Corned beef hash
Amy B.

I swear I've written a review for this place, but when I checked, nothing showed up. It's been a long time since I've eaten here, and the food was really good. A bit on the pricey side, but well worth the few extra dollars. I was here early on a Sunday morning and I was one of the few people in here, so it was easy to get a seat. Menu's pretty decent and the server was fantastic; one of the better one's I've had in some time. Anyway, I went with the corned beef hash and it was really good. Fresh off the grill hot and well presented. Bill was about $17 before tip, and I enjoyed my time here. It's located right next to Sargent appliance off old town road near the library, so it was reasonably easy to find. Parking was okay, a bit tight but my car isn't that huge, so it was a bit easier to get in and out. Will be back at some point in the future.

Delightful hole in the wall - seems the clientele were all local as the staff seemed to know everyone. Chicken salad with walnuts and Michigan cherries was really good. Prompt service. Local gem.

The place is small, very small so very packed. Chances are good you will wait for a table. I had a cup of chicken noodle soup that was rather bland and an outstanding Cobb Salad that came with like a banana or carrot bread, I couldn't quite figure out what it was. Service was decent.

Great breakfast / brunch place. Small cozy dining room but COLD when door opens in winter. Excellent friendly service. Fast and hot. Sit Outside in good weather! Specials looked amazing! I ordered a poached egg over hard and almost no one actually cooks it hard but it was perfect!

A tiny little place on Main Street but with the nicest staff. For our latest adventure, we came back to Rochester because apparently we can't get enough of it. I ordered the southwestern scramble off of the specials menu. The eggs with jalapeño and sour cream was delicious. It came with a jalapeño cheddar corn bread. That was a little dry but still had good flavor. This dish does not come with any potatoes or sides, fyi. They didn't have a kids pancake special but let us order a single pancake with chocolate chips, we also ordered a side of sausage. The pancake with chocolate chip was under $5 and even with the sausage came out to just $8. This is Rochester.. and they still know that you don't need to charge $2 to add chocolate chips to a little pancake. (I'm looking at you shine cafe of Troy). The place was filled with those that seem to frequent this place. I can't blame them, between the service and the food, I would be here often as well. Afterwards, we went across the street to the paint creek trail so I could burn off every calorie I consumed. We shall be back!

Love this place, good food service and environment! Outdoor seating during the summer is always nice :)

Eggs Florentine

Such a cute place! We have been hanging out on downtown rochester for years and never knew of this place! The food truly tastes homemade, the service is excellent! Very accommodating! 10/10 will definitely be back!

Avacado Smash

Had the Avacado toast...it was solid. The cooked tomato was a great add, but it made the bread a bit soggier than I like, but definitely not a big deal. Poached eggs were perfect. My daughter got the berry pancakes, which looked amazing. I wouldn't have changed anything. Overall, good prices and interesting menu. Definitely somewhere I would go back to.

A warm morning pre-8 am glow about downtown Rochester as we walked up to Downtown Cafe

You never really…read moreknow if a place is good, even if it is posted here with a lot of great reviews or bragged about on social media but I knew this place would be worth the hype when I arrived and saw the line out the door. We came here on a Saturday on Mother's Day weekend and it was packed. They told me about 20 minutes, but it was more like 10. They seem very efficient here all the while not rushing people out to get in the next set of customers. The food and drinks also came out in a good time, so being busy did not keep them from running well. It is also a bit pricy here, but the food and portions are delicious and well sized. I love the ambience. It is modern and bright in here. The people working here all seemed very nice, professional, helpful, they provided great service. I did start off with the espresso martini. This was the low point of the meal. While it looked nice and had a great strong coffee flavor, it had zero sweetness whatsoever and did not improve with cream and sugar added. I would put it at the bottom half of my drink around the world espresso martini quest. But, the other drinks quite made up for it. The pomegranate mimosa and plain mimosas were wonderful. I would order both of those again. Just the regular mimosa alone was nice and seemed like a must order item. I would recommend those. One child got a smoothie which was nice and the other a beautiful tiramisu latte that was beautiful and came with a lady finger and mascarpone cream on top. My husband just got the coffee which was standard and nothing special. I love a sweet and a savory for brunch, so I ordered the fruity pebble pancakes. The batter was so lovely and sweet. I loved the bits of fruity pebbles in the batter and the sweet cream on top. I also got a chicken tender biscuit with the siracha maple on the side. It came with a nice salad, which a good dressing, but I also used the siracha maple sauce to dress it up a bit more, and it was very tasty. The biscuit also had gravy and cheese. Both of those items had nice portions and it took two people and three meals to finish it all, which is a good deal, I like nice portions. Two people got the tiramisu pancakes and one got the Monte Cristo. Everything was fabulous. I would love to come back. I think I would get the pancakes again, so well made and delicious. I would also like to try their wrap sandwiches. They looked amazing.

The place is clean, has lots of seating, and I really appreciate the many windows and natural lighting, it makes the space feel open and comfortable. Parking is easy, which is a big plus. I live out in the Lansing area and met a friend who had the same thoughts about Paul's as we did, but picked it for its parking and easy to navigate location on a Saturday night in December. We were all so pleasantly surprised -- I'm writing from the following morning and I'm still amazed at the change of this place! I ordered a couple apps -- the Brussels sprouts and the boom boom shrimp. The Brussel sprouts were a touch over for me with the meat not quite being crispy enough, but that didn't stop the rest of my table from finishing them. The boom boom shrimp was delicious -- I found the spice-level completely appropriate for something I'm expecting to have 'a touch of spice' while my husband found zero spice. Would order the shrimp again. They did away with the breadbasket of yesteryears and switched to real, cut, French bread with whipped butter! I had the French onion soup which came last to the table and I wasn't mad at that as it was HOT -- thank you! My friend ordered the tuna on sourdough which was perfect with beautifully crispy fries. And my husband ordered a giant burger, that had the perfect cook on it! Overall, we had a lovely time. The wait staff were also extremely delicate and respectful in nudging us to let us know there was a massive line waiting for our table (something we didn't realize as we were chatting and catching up).
