Yup - it is all that like they say. We picked up food here to celebrate our 22nd wedding anniversary (22 years today!) The original plan was to eat on site but the weather is blah today and we decided to plate our dinner on the good china and drink out of the crystal goblets so obvi we had to bring the food home. We ordered: Cajjun Pasta, Loaded Cajjun Swamp Fries, Cajjun Swamp Grits, Seafood Mac & Wings and a side of catfish. Yes - that is a lot of food. The grits were actually for my sister. But still, yeah a LOT. I'm glad we did too because now I can eat everything all over again. Surprisingly, the fries are my favorite: Lots of stuff on 'em and good spice level. Kudos on the catfish filet too: not too breaded, not too fried, not too flakey...absolutely perfect. I can't wait to come back for Sunday Brunch so I can try the chicken and waffles. Side note: their food is not cheap, BUT the portions are generous and the quality is high, so in a word: worth it. Okay two words. Management and ownership should really have a sit down and assess what they want the place to be. I want them to win but right now it needs some changes. The only reason it's got stars from me at all is because I enjoyed the company I was with for brunch and because the music being played was good.. Although, the music was so loud it drowned out our conversations at times. They tried to have a "club" vibe at 12 pm. Yo, I'm over 30.. I just wanted some nice convos and a meal with the folks I was with and some good background music.. not a Dj telling folks to order more drinks. Judging by some of the eye rolls of the folks nearby, I'd say they probably felt the same way. Also, I couldn't tell if the AC was broken or if that's how the place is designed but it was hot. The fans did not help. The food was not spectacular, I probably won't be going back. Again, I enjoyed the folks I was with and the place has a lot of potential to create a great atmosphere but right now they're trying to do too much, all at once. Advice for ownership and management would be to better differentiate the place for your brunch crowd and your night crowd. Now, I'm not a prude but booty cheeks are not exactly what I'm wanting to see at 12pm, eating some french toast. You're probably thinking, "oh, this guy is just picking on black business, Hooters does it".. I promise you I'm not. But I'd say see it for yourself. I'm only giving this restaurant a 3 star review because it took an hour+ for our food to be brought out because they lost our order. Food and environment was fantastic but waiting more than hour for our food ruined the experience. Try better next time I guess. The food used to be good but this place has gone down the drain. The food was disgusting both times that I've eaten there recently. The fried seafood options were soggy as if it was cooked in old grease. There was a ton of seasoning poured on top, but none cooked into the food. The wings and fries were also disappointing. Actually a good outdoor eating day for Texas. Plenty of fans in seating area. We were seated fast and our server did an excellent job. We were a simple order. Water, which was in cold bottles, liked this. Loaded swamp fries - the shrimp on this were excellent, the rest was bland - literally no real flavor except for the liberal topping of cayenne. Bowl of Crawfish etouffee - this would have been better with dirty rice not white (personal preference), was liberally sprinkled with cayenne which was the only real flavor, and had just enough crawfish that you couldn't debate what it was.
