Breakfast scramble "omelette". Gross.
Beth G.

Disappointing. Another mediocre downriver Coney Island. I had the breakfast scramble omelette and did not like it at all. It was more like a plate of hash. No eggs to be seen. Partner had fish and chips. Taste was ok, but breading was not crispy. We will not be back.

#drc $5.99 breakfast special

Breakfast here is cheap. They have a $5,99 breakfast special as is photographed in the review . Seating area is nice and family oriented.

Breakfast was delicious. Very good gravy. Staff friendly and place clean. Prices reasonable.

This place is great! The staff are very attentive, and the prices are unbeatable. Our food came out incredibly quickly as well! We ordered breakfast, and the hash browns were perfectly hearty and crispy. The eggs were cooked well, which is always a nice surprise at a coney. They also offered a variety of bread choices and hot sauces. The blueberry pancakes were fluffy and HUGE, even though we ordered the half order. The inside of the restaurant is nice as well. It feels cozy and updated, with corrugated metal accents and several TVs. The booths were a good size and comfortable. Thought the building is small, there are tables to accommodate larger parties. There's also a nice counter to sit at in the front of the restaurant. There's lots of natural light, and they had decorated nicely for the holidays. Overall it's a great place for a quick bite!

Chicken gumbo soup - best item we had today. Yum.

Let me first preface by saying this review is written after only one visit. However, it was an exceptional visit for a Coney Island. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted warmly and told to pick a place. We picked a booth right by the window because my son loves to watch the cars on Eureka Rd. Menus, water and a booster seat were promptly brought, as were the daily specials, by a very cheerful, friendly while still helpful waitress. I got the fish and chips, which came with average fries and a DELICIOUS "chicken gumbo" soup. The fish and hips were above average, which is saying something for a Coney Island around these parts. An order of mozz sticks was just reheated frozen sticks, but my 2 year old didn't seem to mind. Food came out FAST and HOT, also a good sign. Finally, they gave my son free ice cream, which was the icing on the ale, as it were. Great service, solid food. What more can you ask for from a Coney Island?

Three of us came in at noon, on a Sunday, and it was packed. We had about a 15 min wait, were seated and greeted by a very nice waitress. You can tell they use fresh fruits and vegetables even my eggs were extra fluffy... onto the taste that's the most important part right it was absolutely phenomenal flavor wise. My only complaint is that my food could've been a little bit warmer temperature wise. I would definitely return maybe at a time when it's not so busy. P.s. the bread and jam are so good!!

Dangerous lack of allergy safety, zero empathy, and a complete liability!…read more Very sad because I came here with my husband a few weeks prior and the food was good, well, the breakfast was good that I ordered (apple french toast) ...his burger looked pretty Basic B. Actually, his words were it was "just okay". At the time, I thought it was his fault. Like, why would you order a burger at a breakfast joint? But whatever he doesn't like breakfast.. anywho I have 0 pictures from yesterday because I was so annoyed. It distracted me from pics but just imagine french toast with strawberries, blueberries, whipped cream , and (what we were told was strawberry sauce drizzled over it) I am writing this review because the level of negligence, poor communication, and awful customer service at this establishment is a massive safety hazard. My Sister and I were here yesterday around 1pm . We ordered some coffee drinks and chatted with the waitress a bit, she mentioned she had been there for over 20 years. So she worked there the under the previous names but same owners, Kikos and before that i cant recall the name . We decided to split the Very Berry French toast. My sister immediately asked, does it have raspberries on it? Because i'm allergic to raspberries. Waitress replies , no ," we don't even have raspberries here" I take a quick glance at the menu and notice that there is raspberry sauce on the Monte cristo. So I say , please make sure there's no raspberry sauce because I do see that on the menu and Just to reiterate , she is allergic to raspberries , so please make sure...and she said , no problem! Drinks come, were chattng , the french toast comes out, looks amazing. We each take one bite from each end. And we both look at each other bc we immediately notice raspberry taste. I immediately waved the waitress over to the table and told her we tasted raspberry, she said, "there's no raspberries in that, but if you want, I can have them remake it" she seemed annoyed. We were speechless , waitress then quickly left to have it remade u assume? Idk ! Even tho my Sis only took one bite and stopped eating, she still suffered an immediate allergic reaction including a swollen tongue and hives in her throat that lasted for days. My sister had to leave immediately to get medication from a pharmacy, while I stayed at the table to wrap things up. I Spoke to the manager and explained what happened, the response was completely unbelievable. Instead of apologizing, she defended the staff, saying, "She didn't do it on purpose, it's not her fault." It turns out the kitchen ran out of strawberry syrup and they substituted it with raspberry syrup. attention owners if you change an ingredient--especially a common allergen--you MUST inform your staff. Also, a server.. (especially one that's been around the block for like 20 years as she said) should know better- always write allergy alerts on the kitchen ticket. The manager offered to remake the food, but I told her, "No, please don't, she's probably not going to eat it, we don't trust you at this point." She brought out a remade plate anyway, so I started to box it up. At that point, my sister came back from the pharmacy and told me her throat was swelling and itchy really bad and we needed to leave immediately. I left the food. As we got up, I noticed they left a bill for our two lattes and only took off the French toast. We hadn't even had a chance to drink the lattes!!!!! We went up to the front counter to clarify since the manager said it would be taken care of. The cashier went back to talk to the manager, and I could see them arguing back-and-forth about it. At that point, I was so incredibly annoyed that I waved my money in the air and said, "You know what, never mind, I'll pay for the lattes." I told the cashier, "This is unbelievable. They literally poisoned my sister, but we are still paying for lattes we couldn'teven enjoy" I threw the cash down on the desk and walked out. They are incredibly lucky my sister only took one bite. Avoid this place at all costs if you have food allergies.

For example, I get the "Hearty" breakfast most of the time and it comes with eggs, meat, pancakes, potatoes and toast, and it really highlights what is this place's strength. Eggs: I get mine scrambled and have a nice selection of hot sauce to choose from. Meat: I appreciate that they offer turkey sausage since I don't eat beef or pork, but my wife loves their bacon if that's your thing. Pancakes: quality varies the most here as they are sometimes a little pale (but still good) but more often the idyllic golden one expects when ordering. Potatoes: lots of variety here, too, as my home fries come in different sized cuts with seasoning ranging from none to "no need for salt or pepper?" Toast: Again, wide variety of choices, I go with sourdough most often If this sounds like a lot of food, there are lots of other options that make it appealing to smaller appetites. But what I like about the "Hearty" is all the choices and the variation in style (probably depends on who's staffing the griddle) allows me to order the same meal and still feel like I'm getting some variety. Having said that, keep an eye out for the specials. They sometimes are tempting enough to get me to stray from usual. In addition to good food, the service is always friendly, and we've been back enough times to where I think every server recognizes us. Like I said, it's a favorite.
