Right before the lunch rush

Excellent tender and flavorful BBQ! Traveling through town and found this long time local place. Classic menu items, they have it all. We had the brisket and the turkey, both delicious! Seating inside in booths, reviews on the walls, some real history in this place.

One word: nom. We were making good time back to Denver from Austin when we saw an advertisement on the side of the road for this place....and it looked like our favorite kind of place. Small, local, divey....and delicious. A quick exit off the road and we were in lunchtime heaven. As soon as we parked, opened the door and inhaled the rich, deep, smoky scent we knew we stumbled onto a gem. Super nice people and great food.

I got the special with 2 sides instead of a side and drink. It was delicious. Chopped Beef, potato salad, beans.

The food is great but my favorite part of Doug's is the employees and owners. Oh, and the beans. I love their beans. The first time I ever went to Doug's I liked the beans so much I got a side order to take home with me and eat later the next day. Now I order them every time. They have great specials and I usually order one since I'm on a budget. I usually get a sandwich, once I tried a rib on the side and I have had their Frito pie. Everything has been good. The people behind the counter are always super friendly and helpful and flexible about what you order. For instance, I don't usually order a drink but I like their sides so twice they suggested I could trade the drink for a side on their sandwich special. That works great for me. I'd much rather have potato salad and beans or whatever I choose than to have a soft drink or tea. They seem to bend over backwards to help their customers. That's great customer service. The building itself can be a little hard to spot, especially if you're coming from the south. The big building next door on 34th kind of overshadows their little building. It was kind of rude of whoever built the bigger building. But once you know where it is, it isn't that hard to find.

Plate combo 3 meat

This is the best BBQ that I haven't been. The food is delicious! Pricing is cheap! Staffs here r very nice!

I recommend the chopped beef sandwich with the sauce (sauce is the key) and the slow cooked beans.

You order food at the register and then sit down, so when you order a dessert, they can put a little note to serve it to you at the end. Speaking of dessert, that pecan cobbler ala mode smacks! The perfect ending to a delicious meal. The meat is so tender and falls off the bone. You don't need a knife to cut anything. A plastic knife will do the job easily. They say the brisket is the star of the show and I can attest to that. However, the turkey is the runner up. I don't know what they do to that Turkey, but my husband and I might have to grab more to take home with us tomorrow. They were so nice too because we ordered a 1/2 rack of ribs and they ran out, so we got the last of the ribs. The also doubled all our meats! We wound up getting 1/2 a lb of turkey and 1 lb of brisket! We are going to be eating some good sandwiches for the next few days. We definitely plan on coming back the next time we are in Amarillo. If you're in the area, definitely come in and grab a bite! They also have plenty of choices in beer too.

My first time here, the Tootum Gas Station is CLEAN, I think this is a really good alternative for truck drivers if they are willing to forgoe taking a break at Petro or even Pilot. I wanted Protein today, was almost inching on parking my rig at the Big Texan again to get myself some steak, but I quickly opted for Mitch's BBQ Texas Style off the exit 75 in Amarillo Texas. Service is fast, lady and elder gentleman were super nice. Food overall no complaints, great brisket. Albeit a bit cold, but decent pork ribs, pretty good Johnsonville*ish polish sausage with cheddar jalapeno. I'd say for value this would beat any Dickeys BBQ located in California with a huge tray of food coming out under 28.00. Think I found my new spot to take a breather in Northern Panhandle Texas. Makes me want to rewatch the Yellowstone series because everyone in there was dressed like the Duttons.

I was just looking for a quick bite before hitting the road again, and the Yelp reviews didn't steer me wrong. I ordered the four-piece combo: two ribs, two chicken tenders, waffle fries, and a drink. Everything was served hot and fresh. The barbecue sauce was solid, nice flavor without being overpowering. The ribs were decent, and the chicken tenders were cooked perfectly, though the breading was way too spicy for me (I ended up peeling it off and still enjoyed the chicken inside). Waffle fries were crispy and satisfying, and the price felt fair for the portion. Nothing fancy--again, gas station--but definitely better than expected. Would I go out of my way for it? Probably not. But for a quick, hot meal on the road? It hit the spot.

It's just my favorite food!(after Maine lobster, of course ) She said Wesley's had the best bbq in town. Of course, we had to try it. It was quite a way from our hotel. 9 miles, but well worth it! I had the small rib plate. 3 meaty smokey ribs so tender the meat came right off the bone. With the sweet hickory bbq sauce adding just the right flavor, I was sold. The pinto beans were cooked just right. The cole slaw is the type I like, not over mayonnaised and not too sweet. Crunchy cabbage. There were 7 of us, and everyone cleaned their plate! The bonus was a young singer, Nelson mckinney entertained us with his wonderful voice and guitar playing. This is a don't miss place to eat if you are in Amarillo.

From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was fun, lively, and full of energy. The hosts were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful, which made us feel right at home. The half order of fried mushrooms was great. My son enjoyed his two 5 oz steak filets, my wife was very pleased with her Prime Rib. I was disappointed with my rib eye, I had to trim off too much fat. The desert was delicious. Overall, don't expect a steak you would be served at a fine steakhouse, but definitely give the Steak Ranch a visit.
