I had been with another tire shop for decades, but they were bought out recently (and a year ago getting a flat fixed they told me I needed new tires - which I did not at that time). Wow! Had our A/C go out on our vehicle and we took it to our "normally trusted" place and they charged us $320 to put the wrong part on that failed within 40 hours the part had failed. They then quoted us $1,300 to fix properly. On a friends recommendation, we took it to Douglas and they showed us what the problem was and fixed it for $200 and everything is working great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We just took the vehicle back to them today because our check engine light was on and the owner met us upfront and stopped what he was doing to help us out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]He spent almost an hour explaining what the codes were and what the fix was.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] His time was worth more than what they will make on the fox because it is so minor. We have multiple vehicles and we can say that we will now be moving our business to the Douglas team. Took my car back to the dealership hoping the repairs needed would fall under a warranty. After two weeks they wanted to charge me $1,900 to replace parts we had already replaced! I took my vehicle to Douglas Automotive who not only diagnosed and fixed it in two days, but they also found the actually issue and we paid half of what the dealership wanted. Beware this auto repair place!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Their front man, Brian, speaks with a sliver tongue & is polite but believe him at your own risk.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I spent $6,000 in repairs and now I doubt whether I needed all this. I had asked them to fix my AC which suddenly went out after they did other work. They tried to repair the problem by replacing essential parts (supposedly) but the system failed later in Los Angeles. Try as I might to get them to refund the money they charged me for the 'repair' of the AC, Brian played a series of games with me. First saying they had some special warranty with Napa and that I just had to find other shops in L.A. that optioned into that warranty. Of course, there were none. [[HIGHLIGHT]]So I sent my repair record from Leaf Auto in Culver City with my receipt for payment 3 times because I never got him to respond. He said he would call me after my 3rd attempt but never did.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I followed this up with another call to ask about it, he put me on hold for 10 minutes and then offered no solution when he finally came back on the line.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I then asked him to speak to the owner & he say he would but apparently did not follow through with my request[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Thinking about his behavior, I recall the last time I was in to have them check my AC & there was a customer who was there who had to return to after he went on a trip because the repairs Leaf Auto made had failed. I made a mental note of this at the time because I saw the look on his face which revealed his absolute frustration. Now, I really wonder if I needed all these repairs that he kept telling me about (4 front ball joints, water pump, and some other stuff). Of course, auto repair places can be notorious for their corrupt practices but this was my first real experience of being suckered into spending so much money. And he knew I was in L.A. and the cost in gas alone of returning would have been close to $200 whereas the refund was a mere $275. I suppose Brian took the gamble I would not return since I was selling my CamperVan and trying to return to Mexico. So, again, check into other auto repair shops in the area before going to this location of Douglas Automotive. NEVER AGAIN!!! I will tell all my friends in the area about my experience as well, so all are forewarned. read more

I normally don't take the time to write reviews, and the Outstanding service I received today at Douglas Automotive is compelling me to take the time to do so! Brian was professional and welcoming from the first phone call inquiring about getting an oil change. The price he quoted was definitely in my budget and when I Googled them, they were less than 10 minutes away! I just moved here from the Bay Area and I'm still getting "the feel of the land." Not only were they able to complete my oil change, adjust my tire pressure, which I had a hard time doing in the Bay Area where every gas station I pulled into the air pump was broken, they replaced two fuses that had blown out that caused my dash board to be none operational! All this at NO ADDITIONAL COST!!! They also informed me of issues in my car that would need to be looked at in the future, but posed no immediate concern at the moment! I got a lot of work done on my car here last year and have come in a few times since then to ask questions and get my car looked at. They didn't charge me anything and we're extremely helpful. After calling around, it seemed like everyone was charging about the same price for oil changes, since my car is newer and takes synthetic oil. Except Douglas automotive. Not only was the price they quoted me on the phone lower then anywhere else, when the oil change was done, it cost a few dollars less then they had told me on the phone. And while I love stuff for cheap, and would probably continue to go here even if the rest of the experience had been mediocre. But! The rest of the experience turned out to be more pleasant than the usual oil change. For one thing, it was the social highlight of my week, you know, because I haven't spoken to human people in several days. But also, the owner greeted me when I got there, and let me leave my car parked in the middle of the lot because I had gotten a little turned around, and was super nice, and respectful and informative without being condescending. He showed me my filters and asked if I'd like them changed, which cost about $15 each, and he let me know that my tires were getting to the point where I would need to replace them soon, and all told it was still cheaper then the price I'd been quoted to get an oil change elsewhere. It is such a relief to have a mechanic in the area that I can go to worry free. read more

After calling around trying to find a place to change our oil for less than $90 a friend told us about this place and we are so happy we came here! $57 for our oil change! Amazing prices and amazing customer service! This is the way a business should run! I wish I could give a good rating but I have to say, after spending several thousand dollars with this place I was treated like garbage when I came back to ask why my car felt like the shocks had not been replaced when they supposedly had. They then left my car sitting in their lot for weeks and when I came to just pick it up the boss said they had been trying to find aftermarket parts for it. Strange, I found the parts online in a few seconds. Don't treat me like I'm stupid. The brakes on my truck that they replaced are not right and they said they would make it right but never did. The brakes on my cargo trailer that they replaced squeek but same thing, if they didn't take care of the sho k issue am I inclined to leave my business trailer to sit in their lot and not be addressed? Beware of this shop, especially if you are a woman, they think you are stupid. read more
