I had recently spent $1932 at another repair shop to have a catalytic converter put on my honda crv so I came here to Ray's for my routine smog($40). It failed due to drive pattern being incomplete. I returned 5 weeks later and failed again for same issue ($40). I was outside of 30 day windows for a free retest. Anyway, I then did a super complicated drive pattern and according to my diagnostic testing tool, my car was finally ready to pass smog! So I returned for the 3rd time, about a week after my second fail, and this time, my experience was HORRIFIC and left me in tears. I am scarred from the incident. The guy in charge said I had to come back the next day because they don't do retests after 4:00pm. It was no big deal as I hate to be that person! As I was leaving they called me back and said they changed their mind. I was so grateful at that point as I have been through so much already. He gets my car hooked up then calls me over and starts reminding me that the retest is a complimentary service. I wasn't sure what to say but I told him that I had paid for two smogs already that this is the only retest I've been here for. He wanted to see my receipts so I started looking. I informed him that I had just gotten a bunch of work done on my car and it should pass this time. That was a big mistake. Now he's hounding me about what work I got done and why I didn't come there to do it. I told him I didn't know they did work like that. He points up to a sign and says what do you mean you didn't know we do work? What are you doing here if you didn't know? I really didn't know what to say, except that I was confused and I didn't know you do catalytic converters here. He smacked my hood down and told his workers to get my car out of there and for me to come back tomorrow because I rolled my eyes at him. I didn't roll my eyes I was trying to keep the tears from falling. I was in shock and I was scared of him. As soon as he saw me cry he yelled at the guy and told him to bring my car back in. At this point I thought this man was unstable. He hooked my car up and was looking around in there and called me over again to tell me he was going to fail it again because he couldn't read the number of the catalytic converter. I was still crying I could not understand why he was doing this to me. I was trying to call the shop that put it on but they put me on hold. I just thought forget it I'm going to take my car out of here and drive over to the other shop and tell him what's going on and get any extra information I might need regardingthe catalytic converter. Ray said aren't you going to wait for a receipt? So I waited and waited while he typed and then wrote stuff down then typed again. He gave me my paper and it said he was unable to verify my catalytic converter and that it was going to require one hour of Labor in order to hoist it up in their garage and get the number off of it. Everything on my vehicle passed smog except he added to a visual inspection that catalyst was "tampered" with. This was not necessary. He used his own words to Red Flag my vehicle. I showed up at my regular shop and he told me that this guy is rotten. He said lately he's been really messing with people and upsetting them. I'm still in shock by this happening to me. If you knew me, I'm always very courteous and respectful to people. This guy was mad that I didn't pay them to do my repairs so now he's trying to charge me for 1 hour more of Labor. The reason I gave them 2 stars, is for his other employees. A few of them that have helped me including the younger kid especially, are some of the most kind people. That man does not deserve to have them working for him. Please don't go there. I've never dealt with a worse business owner. I've now been referred to J&S smog on Olympic Parkway in Grass Valley. Wish me luck that this red flag doesn't create me more problems that I don't deserve. I will call the the Better Business Bureau and complain.

It was a Saturday so…read moreafter waiting until Monday morning I received a call from Omar at 8:15am sharp the service advisor. He told me they were going to work on it right away and so I said great! After confirming that the water pump had broken and that they could have it repaired the same day I was very surprised and impressed. I did get a little concerned with the estimate but up to this point everything had gone better then expected so I went ahead and told them to get it repaired. Later that afternoon I got a call telling me that The job was done so I went in and picked it up after they let me know about a payment option which I qualified for and all was good again in my life!! The job carries a two year or 20,000 mile warranty and I even had my original cost for the inspection returned to me which I needed. I highly recommend dirks transmission and repairs to anyone with a small to large repair and need it done quickly and with complete professionalism. I will be going back for any future repairs and maintenance needed on my daily driver C6 Corvette 2008. Thanks Omar and the entire staff at Dirks auto repair. I wanted to post an update as of the end of the week of the repairs being completed and I did take my car back to Dirks because of a smell of antifreeze and just wanted to be safe. So there was a small leak in a heater hose that went undetected during the final pressure test performed. Omar told me to bring it in and we can take a second look so I did and it does happen, there was a small leak in a heater hose and it needed to be replaced as well. Now after all is hopefully done and the smell goes away I would still recommend Dirks in oroville for any repairs needed on your vehicles Sent from Yahoo Mail for iPhone

I was happy enough with the oil: they remembered to put the cap on!! But when I had the owner do something a little more complicated, he blamed me and my car when he got it wrong twice. He should have been out able to admit that he was out of his depth but he didn't want to lose more time or money: He left that to me. A dealer figured it out in an hour but by then, I had spent several hundred dollars and wasted a lot of time. You've been warned - never again for me.

He was courteous, very accommodating and took the time to take all my vehicle information to ensure he had the right elements to complete the job. He also gave me a quote and that was the price I paid when all was said and done. I arrived at the appointed time, within a minute, Ted was there to meet me in the parking lot with clipboard in hand, took control and an hour and a half later, the project was done. Everything was according to schedule. I couldn't have had a more pleasant and smooth transaction, from the initial phone call to when I drove off the parking lot. I appreciate that a lot.
