Truly a Local Gem. I've been coming to this place since they've opened and have never had anything less than a fantastic experience. Great Service + Great Products = Dough Artisan Pizzeria! The pizza is spot on using the highest quality ingredients. The love and passion truly shows throughout the food (hard to find nowadays). For comments that suggest, "If the crust didn't take up a third of the pizza, it would be more enjoyable" obviously DOESN'T know pizza. I traveled the world ate at local mom and pop shops across Naples, Rome & Sicily and this pizza is on the same playing field. Same texture, same style, same beautiful crust, same plum tomatoes, and same taste. Forgot to mention its BYOB. Could you ask for more? Wish I could I give you more than 5 stars because you certainly deserve 10. Previous post "If you're in Jersey charging top dollar for pizza, you better be pretty damn good". If you think this place is expensive you need to re-evaluate. You cannot find this good of a pizza in the area for $12. That's CHEAP considering the price of organic and natural ingredients you are getting. Take a minute and read the menu and find out that this restaurant sources only local ingredients all the time. Let's start with the good... When we first arrived at the restaurant there was a 45 minute wait. Instead of having us sit in their foyer, which is very small, or stand outside, they offered to take out phone number and call us when our table was ready. As we live right around the corner this was a very nice and greatly appreciated accommodation. We were seated at a table in the back of the restaurant where a very friendly server greeted us, told us the specials, and took our drink order. Our server had a great understanding of the menu and was able to describe in detail the specials and the components of each dish. We ordered the ricotta appetizer and zucchini crisps. Both were delicious, and in my opinion they were the highlight of the meal. Since we were a large party we ordered 5 different pies. they were a classic Margharita, pesto, sweet caramelized, butternut, and a sausage. I will definitely give the restaurant credit for Innovation and thinking outside of the box especially with the butternut and the sweet caramelized pies. However innovation seems to be all that they have in regards to the pies, as the pies were average at best. There was barely any basil on the Margharita, the sausage had a few tiny crumbles, and the pesto was far too oily and had very tiny cubes of chicken. For the prices of these pizzas, I would have expected a little more effort on the ingredients. Lastly, the only thing that arrived promptly at our table throughout the meal was the check. Overall, Dough is not all it's cracked up to be. If you are looking for artisan pizza that's worth a high price tag for an 11 inch pie, I suggest you keep looking. read more

I've been wanting to try Dough for a long time now and finally did tonight...and I'm kicking myself for not first going years ago! The ambiance is cozy and the service was great. The food was excellent- we tried the zucchini crisps (which were awesome and came with a zesty dipping sauce) and two pizzas on the current winter menu, one of which was the short rib. Everything was really fresh and it's easy to see the owner takes pride in the quality of the ingredients. We will DEFINITELY be going back soon! read more

Oh, I love Dough! I first went here for a girls night and had a delicious experience and each one since has been equally as good. The ambiance is cozy and inviting with brick exposures and warm lighting; perfect for a date or night out with friends. The food is so fresh and incredibly tasting! The brick oven pizzas are all made with fresh, tasty ingredients. I'm a huge fan of the sausage and the mushroom pies. And the mac and cheese - OMG, out of this world. Some of the best I've ever had. The salads and ricotta appetizer are not to be missed. The service is really friendly and it's family friendly while still catering to non-families. BYOB - so remember your drinks! Only drawback is they are only open till 9pm during the week and 10pm on weekends. They're too good to close that early! read more

I would recommend the meatballs, any sort of pizza, and their salads! We ordered numerous other main courses as well, and our only complaint is that some dishes take longer to come out then others. I have been meaning to try this restaurant for months and am I glad I finally did! We missed lunch and arrived way too early for dinner around 4 ish. I wasn't sure if we would be seated. We were welcomed and seated with a smile. Our server Coleen was friendly and definitely loves working there. She was helpful with suggestions but did not try to "up sell" anything. The rustic atmosphere is cool and the farm to table concept has inspired me to embrace the idea and return to support it. We ordered the butternut squash soup and the meatballs for appetizers. The soup unique and delicious. The meatballs were very good and covered with just the right amount of a tomato sauce that I wish I could take home in a bottle. (Hummm maybe next time I will ask for some to go) We both ordered pizza. I had the chicken with the olives and pesto, my husband stuck with the sausage pie. They were both excellent because of the thin tasty crust. The chef sets it all apart here! Pizza is pizza right? ..not with a crust like this! You are just going to have to try it. When I go back next time it will be hard to try something other than pizza but the gnocchi looks awesome and I really want to try the braised short rib! Thank you for a great meal! Great food, nice ambiance, fantastic service. My wife and I have been to this place twice and both times we've been impressed with just about everything. The first time we had the olives and zucchini chips as appetizers, which were good but nothing memorable. This time we ordered a fire roasted beet salad with homemade cheese and the risotto balls, both of which were amazing. We had the mushroom pizza for dinner and it was delicious. The service was a standout - there are a few restaurants where you can tell the staff has been heavily trained and the place puts a strong emphasis on culture. Dough is one of them. I don't pay much attention to restaurants hyping that all their ingredients are local, etc. because it has become so common. But the results - absolutely delicious pizza dough contributing to fantastic pies - cannot be denied. We stopped in for lunch today on a whim. The location hasn't fared well with various Italian restaurants and I was intrigued by the complete overhaul into a comfortable, laid-back space with a wood burning pizza oven. The service was excellent. I will say that we were one of just a few other tables (it was early), but the waitress was very sweet, especially with my toddler son. Not intrusive, helpful when asked, and on top of refills, order taking, etc. We ordered the white pie, the sausage pie, the margherita pie and a custom pie with caramelized onions and mushrooms. All were great but I actually recommend the white pie the most! It's like eating cheesy garlic bread in pizza form. Delicious. Everything tasted fresh and the pizzas were a nice departure from the typical greasy slice options in the area. You won't leave with a pit in your stomach. You WILL leave with leftovers as the personal pies are significant if you have an average appetite. We split the homemade chocolate chip cookies, which were decent - especially if you're partial to a harder cookie (I'm a soft & chewy girl myself). The owner/chef was a fantastic guy. He came over to say hello and find out how everything was - just another example of how welcoming the place is. We had a wonderful relaxing dinner in the outside patio tonight. Our server was great and the individual brick oven thin crust pizzas were excellent. I had a yummy white pie with mushrooms, truffle oil, ricotta and fontina cheeses. Hubby had a shrimp pie. My daughter enjoyed the house special burrata pie. Byob. We went to Grover Cleveland's birthplace and stopped here for lunch. I had previously planned to eat lunch here based on reviews from fellow Yelpers. The hostess was very friendly and seated us right away. There were only 2 other guests, but I think a baby shower party booked most of the other tables. We ordered the zucchini fries. It was fabulous. Not too greasy or too much batter. Perfectly seasoned with a great chili garlic dipping sauce. We ordered the sausage pizza and the mushroom pie, and both were fabulous. Having lived in manhattan for 7 years, am a bit of a snob when it comes to pizza. This place surprises on the positive. Creative offerings (the cherry tomato, truffle oil, fontina and Parmesan cheese pie was the night's special pie and was excellent) and attentive wait staff is what to expect. Pie sizes are 10" which is enough for a hungry adult. Thin crust which just a hint of brick oven black carbon on them to give them that crisp authentic flavor. For our 2 year old we veered into Mac & Cheese territory and it was very good as well. BYOB is a small drawback and our plain pizza was a tad light on (the excellent) tomato sauce. WOW! This was recommended to us by a good friend and boy were they right! The pizzas were delicious! That's a tall order for Jersey being that we have so many great pizzerias. They are individual portions (large individual portions) so we got a few and shared them. The margherita pizza was delicious. The mushroom with fontina cheese and truffle oil was over the top! Great thin crispy crust and plenty of toppings. Plus they offer gluten free pizza and pasta. This is good because my mother in law and my father both have gluten allergies. We went on a Sunday at 4PM when they opened and were seated right away. I heard that Friday and Saturday nights it's packed and you will wait. I'm not surprised in the least. Oh Dough, how I love thee- local, farm to table restaurant right in the heart of Caldwell. What can I say about this amazing restaurant that has not already been said. This is without a doubt one of my favorite restaurants ever, anywhere. From the food, atmosphere and service- literally 5 stars! Which is very hard in the restaurant business, with so much room for human error! But these people are like food gods and goddesses. The entire staff is awesome, sooo darn sweet and nice. The woman owner/manager(?) is stellar, literally on point with managing every aspect of the customer experience in this place. I'm in love. I always try their featured salad, soup or vegetable appetizer which are always to die for. Obviously must get a pizza but honestly they shine with their featured vegetable based dishes. Excellent food , amazingly cozy atmosphere. Went there on a Friday night. It was packed without feeling cramped. Food is refreshing from the usual wings and garlic knots you find at ever other pizzeria. Our party got the meat plate , it had wild boar on it. Never knew they made salami out of these things, but I have to find out their supplier. I got a half chicken with roasted vegetables for dinner. Again this is not a typical item found at a pizzeria, so it was hard to pass up. The chicken was moist and the skin was crispy. Could even finish the whole thing. My friends , ordered the wild boar pizza which happened to be the star of the dinner. This is a byob restaurant which is great, as most artisan establishments force you to get some "special"you might not like anyway. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable , extremely helpful. They brought out an ice bucket for my beer. Never imagined a pizzeria paying so much attention to detail. I'll be returning shortly. Heard they had a seasonal Nutella pizza that I have to try.
