Stayed here on a business trip which is common for me to stay at a Hilton property. The lobby was clean as staff was nice. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was clean, but the hotel itself needs some cleaning and updating. Parking was free but not a lot of personal touch from staff. This was the first time I've stayed at a Doubletree where water or their famous chocolate chip cookie was not offered. The AC left the room feeling a bit humid. I likely won't choose this location next time. read more

Covid seems to have changed everything, including hotel experiences. The hotel is pleasant, and so were the staff. They're taking all the right precautions (in my opinion), and that helped me feel good about this selection. Since the amenities and kitchen are closed, there was no cookie upon arrival, but again- Covid...so I understand. It's in a great location, convenient and quiet. Also, for whatever it's worth- the elevator is actually not painfully slow! Just FYI- no microwave in the room(s), but there is one in the lobby. It wasn't a big deal to me, but thought it was worth noting. Not sure when I'll be back in Whittier, but glad I chose to stay here for this trip. read more

I had high hopes for this place as I've stayed in DoubleTree before at different location and always had a clean and pleasant stay. As well as I've done my research before booking a room at any hotel because of my fear of bedbugs. We did a 2-night stay at this hotel and on our second night, I saw a bedbug crawling on my clothes which I'd left in the bed while we were out all day. (refer to the photo). Obviously, we were not about to stay in a room with bedbugs so I asked to be moved as we were checking out the next day anyways. As we were checking out, the front desk offered to refund me 50% of our stay but since I booked with a third party (Chase Travel), I would have to talk to them about it. I spoke with Chase Travel, where I had booked that hotel, and when they spoke to the hotel, they were only giving me a 50% refund for ONE night, which was NOT communicated to me. I honestly do not think that was enough to rectify the situation and especially misleading on their end. I will not be staying in this hotel anymore. read more

Stinky room. Like cheap power carpet deodorizer. Walls were thin and I could hear everything. I didn't sleep well at all. The fabric chair in the room was very stained. The bed was comfy though. The bathroom had a strong pee smell. When I took a shower it smelled like sewer. Was this a doubletree or a motel 6? read more

I wouldn't recommend staying here unless you want to get poor service. The clerk that helped as we checked out was rude. I addressed to her that our refrigerator did not work the whole stay and we had to toss some stuff out because it went bad, in addition they did not tell us that room service would not be given, unless you asked for it. So we came back to no clean towels. The clerk was very rude to me and the following guest: read more

One of the worst experience I have ever had when staying at this/any motel. Management is rude and dismissive, I would avoid Bell the supervisor as she is absolutely no help. From the moment we checked in Richard and Bell who work the front desk were horrible to interact with. After 45 minutes of repeatedly being hung up on I finally obtained the managers name "Ben" from Bell which turned out to be a lie. So if you want to be treated with little to no respect by all means book at the Double tree in Whittier. Even after submitting a formal complaint to corporate and leaving two messages for the general manager Ryan Perera nothing has been resolved. This is the poorest example of a Hilton property and Hilton should be ashamed and embarrass that they are associated with such a under performing lack luster motel. Save your money and book somewhere else. read more

Hotel was nice and clean and staff was nice. Rooms were updated and nice very roomy. Pool area location was a bit odd for access because if there was a wedding going on, walking by in your bathing suit was uncomfortable. Parking was a bit of a pain for entrance into the hotel if you had to go around back or from the lot. All in all I'd stay again. read more

I recently spent 4 nights in this hotel and I do recommend it. Great location with nightlife in easy walking distance. Every member of the staff I interacted with was top notch. I'd like to give a special shout out to Mingo, who helmed the lounge bar. He was hard working and friendly, but most importantly he took very good care of my new friends who were studying for hours on end in the lounge area every night. He always made sure we had enough water, offered drinks when he could see on our weary faces that we needed it. And in true old school fashion, was an open ear hearing everyone's thoughts while keeping the bar sparkling! My only suggestions, please open the hot tub! The pool is open and I feel like covid is just as possible in both. Also, please please power wash the parking garage grounds and then hose it down regularly. The pee smell was in-your-face and my new boots even stuck to the floor a bit. *anguish emoji* But I did appreciate that it looks like they went from paid parking to free parking, free parking makes me so happy! Just one less thing to worry about. Besides that I loved the gym provided! Great mirrors, great range of equipment. The water was empty but I only checked it once. Bless him, someone told me we were trapped inside the gym but he was pushing on a pull door. Wherever you are I hope you are happy and not needlessly trapped somewhere else. read more

BREAKFAST IS NOT FREE. They will tell you at check in that breakfast is free, they will wait until after you get your food, then charge 25 dollars to your room. First time, the front desk tells me the wrong time for breakfast and I miss it entirely. Second time, this happens. They should not be charging this much for one person for breakfast, yet alone tell their guests it's free at check in when it's not. The entire thing felt predatory. Being charged 25 dollars for breakfast out of nowhere soured my entire experience here. Ridiculous. Please train your staff about the breakfast times and rules. read more

I had to stay here for work training. This place is very close to our corporate office. We requested one king bed but all they had was two full-size beds so no biggie. Immediately upon checking in, I was handed a free cookie. Nice touch. The cookie was so good! I think you only get this when you check in because I wasn't offered one the next night. The check-in lobby is beautiful! It's very classy with a huge fresh flower arrangement in the middle. They also had cold water in the front lobby. The pool is right outside of the lobby. There's a heat wave in L.A. and I was going to go in later on that night but it was small and didn't look inviting at all especially when every stranger coming into the lobby can see you at the pool. There are 8 floors and I got Room 804 (8th floor) which is very close to the elevator and the ice and soda machine. The windows seems very thin because I can hear the kids playing in the pool and in the middle of the night, I was awaken by sirens on both nights that I stayed there. It was either police, fire truck or ambulance. They have USB sockets on the wall by the bed and next to the tv but none of it worked!!!! I thought it was my cord so I grab another cord and my phone is not getting charged. I also had to join "Hilton Honors" in order to get free Wi-Fi in my room. Every time I shut the screen off of my phone and when I go back to it, I have to turn on the wi-fo again. The screen to sign on kept popping up which is quite annoying. The shower wall looks updated. I am under 5' tall and was shocked at how low the sink and toilet was. A tall person will not appreciate something so low. They have Crabtree and Evelyn (that's my name!) toiletries and you also get 2 free bottle water in your room only on your first night. For the price of the room, I was shocked to not see a fridge or microwave. They do provide a tiny coffee pot with coffee and two teas. There is no breakfast included in the room stay as well. Parking is open to anyone and it's free. There are no guards watching who comes in and out of the parking lot and there is no ticket to take when you come in. I'm so glad that the company is paying for my room because I definitely don't think you get your money's worth with the amenities that you get. The place is close to a lot of restaurants, movie theater and small shops. read more

This is really the only choice if you need to be in Whittier. It's unfortunate. Stayed in room 213. Rust and mold in the bathroom. Only 2 electrical Plugs worked. BEWARE!!!!! I was charged for room service I never ordered!! If I had not asked for a break down of my bill I not have known they charged me for this. This hotel is horrible in accommodation, stay, customer service and coordination. From the time we started setting up our reservation the phone representative had no clue how to add extra days to our previous reservation. Once that was figured out we went to check and the counter clerk hardly spoke English and told us we would get a room facing the pool. When we got to the room window was facing an alley way. Went to turn on the hot water in the bathroom and the handle came off. The breakfast they tried charging $25 for was at best maybe worth $15 per person at the most, not a lot of options very basic to try and charge 25. After finishing our first reservation and went to check back in for our extended stay that we had booked and confirmed. They wanted us to evacuate the room we were in to give us another room that wouldn't be ready by their check in time which was 3pm. They offered to hold our luggage and would notify us when the room would be ready. Upon returning to the hotel at night the price they tried to quote us was $100 more than what we were confirmed when we had already called and reserved. We decided to take our luggage and had to bug our relatives to stay with them. When I handed the counter clerk our luggage tickets he asked me where our luggage was, after looking at him with a dumbfounded I told him that the hotel was holding our luggage hence the reason I gave him luggage tickets. Noah at the reception desk was the absolute worst thing about this hotel and is my motivation for leaving this review. Anyone wanting to book an event at this venue might want to read the additional comments below that have nothing to do with the less-than-courteous behavior at reception. We were a family of two adults and three children; we gave no reason to merit the disrespectful behavior of this Hilton employee. Noah was awful from the moment we checked in to our hotel room... and he made sure to maintain his condescending attitude the entire night during the wedding anniversary we were attending downstairs in the Atrium Room of the hotel. If there was an opportunity to make a snide remark, either to me or my children, Noah was sure to take it. Bella was also at the reception desk and was lovely, but clearly Noah had seniority over her and almost appeared to be a bully in their hierarchy. Although Noah's behavior at reception was enough to deter us from ever recommending this hotel, we did have some other issues. In our room, the pillows and blankets on both beds were covered with a thick black fur; I am happy to say, housekeeping was wonderful- they immediately replaced it and were very apologetic. Another thing I found odd and below the standards of an average Hilton/DoubleTree, was that the staff in the Atrium Room event hall threw away the original box containing the wedding cake. I've never heard of such a novice move being made in a place known for hosting formal events. As the celebrating couple scrounged at the end of the evening to find a way to transport the remaining three-layer wedding cake, my sister and I were able to scavenger some cardboard boxes to create a makeshift cake box. This was a shameful reflection on the DoubleTree Hilton event staff. This event was held on Saturday, November 26, 2022. read more

I stayed for one night and woke up at 3am to use the restroom. When I returning back to bed I saw a bedbug on my white pillow. I couldn't sleep and kept the light on for fear or more bed bugs coming out in the dark. I complained to the front desk, I showed them the picture and video and they told me that they were unable to do anything since I booked through Hotels.com. I called Hotels.com and when they contacted the hotel, the hotel said that I never complained and that there was no issue notated. It is very disappointing, you expect a place of this quality and price to be clean. I have never had this happen to me before. I called the hotel again and spoke with Henry (said he was the manager) and he said that he didn't know what I was talking about. Very sad experience. I also have video but it won't allow me to post :( read more

This is our second stay here. I spent from 8:22pm to 9:26pm circling the lot, garage, and side streets for parking. I called the front desk and their response was to keep circling. I asked to speak to someone else and got David who said "it is what it is." He explained that there were 3 parties happening and they have a full house. If that's the case, why isn't there valet/stacked parking? I'm actually staying at the hotel visiting from out of town, not a party goer. It wasn't until I threatened to escalate their issue of poor planning did David offer a complimentary breakfast and to move his car so that I can park neither of which interested me but by then I was tired, insulted, and had just found parking. My husband asked to have more toilet paper sent to the hotel room and it never arrived. I don't plan on staying at this hotel again. The hotel wasn't amazing, but it wasn't bad either. For the price, though, I don't know I would recommend my company return. The room was never attended to during my stay, meaning the trash was never emptied, and the bed was never made. In addition, I had left my MacBook charger in the room which I initially reported less than 3 hours upon my noticing. I called back twice and the staff never got back in touch with me. I can only assume it's a loss. If you can stay elsewhere, I would. The service I received did not justify the cost. read more

Because I'm in this area often, I've stayed at this location several times when it was the Radisson and never had any issues. This would have been my first stay since it changed ownership and is now part of the Hilton chain. Yes I said "would have". I didn't actually get an opportunity to stay here because upon arrival I was told they had given my room away because they overbooked. The front desk said they would attempt to find us other accommodations, but did NOT do that. So we were SOL with no bed for the night. I've attempted several times to contact hotel management with no success. And after issuing an online complaint, I got a canned response from Hilton apologizing for the "inconvenience" of leaving us without a place to stay and advising me there would be no compensation because I had booked with a special rate. This issue has left me feeling that they really don't value their guests and are blasé towards the impact there is with leaving someone without a room. read more

Nice hotel and had many nearby restaurants. Front Desk Concierge didn't seem very friendly or welcoming. Luckily, I didn't have much need for their help and had very little interaction with them. The room was clean but a bit dark. I was on the first floor, and the only natural sunlight was from a sliding door to a patio. The patio was enclosed by walls, so it made the room even darker. Patio could use some decor like plants to make it more comfortable and not do plain. I'd stay there again but would choose a different room. read more

I stay at this hotel when I am in town for business. The owners/management is always doing some project to kept the hotel maintained and updated. The rooms are clean and smell new. If I could give a zero I would. Don't stay here. I had an unforeseen emergency affecting a change in plans and they refused to refund even part of the $165 per night charge. They dropped my call three times and one "customer service" representative told his colleague that he did not want to break the bad news to me that he could not even partially refund so he simply disconnected the call. After a 13 minute hold. Unbelievable. Do not stay here. Customer service is horrible UPDATE: the hotel rep's response, below, almost a week later, reflects the myopic view of the hotel's leadership. She did not contact me at all to further investigate or even apologize. Our sports club will be attending Whittier-based tournaments at least 2-3 times per year for the next 5 years. It's sad that hotel management is so short-sighted that they can't see past being customer-service oriented by even allowing a partial refund so that we would be inclined to stay there 10-15 more times across the next 5 years. Not to mention the negative press the hotel is getting via parent word of mouth - I was told by management that over 30 of us were staying there. It's just baffling when leadership does not fully appreciate or respect the power of customer service. read more

Booked 4 days 3 nights at this location for Christmas. The double beds are very small and very hard, not comfortable at all. The hotel is very old, could use an upgrade for such a pricey stay. The toilet paper is terrible! The neighbors next door were smoking weed. I thought this would be a much better/relaxing stay since it's a Hilton, but I was wrong. At time of check out I shared all my concerns, they said they would call me, it's going on day 2 and no one has called. I will NOT be booking at this location again. I know my measly 600 bucks won't make you change, but I can sure save other's from not staying here. read more

If you can find a better option, please do so. The hotel is outdated, has thin walls and isn't kept well. You come in expecting a hilton but feels like a budget hotel that had noticeable plastic surgery. I didn't understand why it felt off, then I later found out it was a Radisson. The parking outside gets filled quickly. The garage parking isn't great. I like taking mini weekend staycations and this isn't a place I'd ever come back to. I gave it a 2 because the staff was friendly and didn't get bit by bugs. Always, always, always check the mattress and covers beforehand. read more

The first thing that comes to mind is that they have great service here. Staff at registration, bar, breakfast, maids, even facilites are soooo welcoming. If a person works here they WILL speak to you. I love that! What I don't understand is why they are not using the real estate they have. That bar/club that they keep open for a few hours a day would be a great club. I've been to several Double Trees they have a club at night and have loved it!!! As a visitor I don't always know where to go and to have a hotel that offers a spot where I can meet locals, listen to great music and have a drink is freaking awesome for me. Not sure why they closed it but u need to open it back up. I'm can almost guarantee you that you profits will increase. The rooms are ummm okay; not outdated but need a bit of an update. I really don't like that I can't control the heater/air conditioner from the wall. I don't like that I have to bend over backwards to wash my face. Other than that each room is very quiet. (PS I've been here a few times) I had a family with kids singing like they were ok American idol and once I went into my room I didn't hear them and they were next door. All n all I like this place. DO NOT STAY HERE. Worst hotel on the west coast! Fabulous service, clean comfortable rooms, and we actually purchased the bed and bedding they use here because of our fantastic sleep experience here! Very friendly front desk staff. They are the best part of this property. Standard Doubletree room so you are set with your room. Clean room, firm bed, soft towels, good air conditioning. The breakfast bar is a bit sad and needs to be rethought. It could use a made to order omelette station. As this is a Doubletree, you expect a bit more than just a self serve breakfast bar. The one interesting thing about this property is that they do a lot of events like weddings and such. The weekend we stayed there we experienced three weddings. The congestion created at the front entrance is annoying and the wedding parties seem to feel entitled to just be I the way and inconvenience everyone else. I get that it is a wedding but common courtesy should prevail. We even got to watch a drunken wedding fist fight! Gotta love wedding day fights!!!! read more

We live in Whittier and recently had our home tented due to termites. We decided to stay locally and selected the Whittier Hilton.
