The hotel sent a cancellation notice Tuesday evening when I was supposed to check in on Saturday for 5 rooms. Yes 5 rooms. The hotel management staff are cowards. They cancelled our rooms at 6pm. Management staff are only there until 5pm. Obviously, I'd call to ask what happened, only to be told you need to call tomorrow to talk to the GM. COWARDLY to have your desk clerk handle disgruntled guests. I called the next day and their GM was busy. Come to find out, they cancelled over 500 reservations due to a pricing glitch. I now had to pay a difference of $100 more per night per room. This was the best discount they could honor. I could get a better rated hotel for that same price or less so no thanks. They didn't even apologize for the inconvenience. They made me feel like I was being an inconvenience for even calling them to ask why they cancelled my rooms. Thanks for ruining my trip before it even started. read more

I had a room booked on 12/24 when a power outage shutdown the hotels power for about 16 hours. I know it wasn't the Double Trees fault, but it sure as hell wasn't mine either. No discount for a room that had no heating and was 66 degrees when we walked in. There was no hot water for the entire stay. I'm a really pissed Diamond Member, and I waited three days for a response and got NOTHING! So, here I am speaking the truth about a horrible experience and terrible customer service. read more

The room itself was nice. I had a ground floor room with a patio. Unfortunately, there was a semi parked just beyond my patio, so that was all that I could see. While there is a patio set, it is a bit dreary out there and if you're facing the wrong direction, it feels a bit like what I would imagine a prison yard would feel like. There were little flyers and informational cards in the room, which was a nice touch; however, I was disappointed that they weren't laminated and therefore weren't sanitized between occupants as they were wrinkly and clearly reused. Additionally, the QR codes on the informational cards were expired. I did bring the QR expirations to the front desk's attention, but he didn't seem very concerned or surprised by that relegation so I'm not sure if they plan to update them. Again, the room itself was nice for its intended purpose, which was an overnight stay. It had one job and it met expectations. Just don't expect much more out of it. read more

The Staff are completely unprofessional, when item are left behind the housekeepers like to "claim" nothing is found in the room.. and are basically stealing and keeping it for themselves. This is a business hotel that's conveniently located if you're coming into Whittier. You can walk to most parts of uptown. This is one of the nicer hotels in Whittier. This hotel had the basics I would expect for a business stay. I appreciated the refillable Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries. The bathroom seemed recently updated. I felt that the carpet could use an update. The coffee pod maker could make two cups at once, and the coffee pods were from Coffee Bean. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The standard cookie was offered upon check-in and apparently efforts had been made to make it allergy-free. The lobby is nice and inviting, with a bar area and a piano. Staff were friendly, helpful and professional. In down sides, the outdoor parking spaces are beyond compact. I wasn't a fan of having to park in the parking garage, but it turned out okay. I was surprised to find that breakfast wasn't included for the rate I paid, when breakfast is typically provided at lower-star-tier hotels. I didn't love that they took such a high ($100) incidental charge--that just didn't seem necessary for the level of charges one might conceivably make here (and compared to other places I've stayed). read more

Not only did they charge me twice for my stay I made the reservation thru hotels.com but when I check-in they charged me for the room again then it took over 2 weeks to get the money back and several calls and them stating that they had already credited my account. There was a roach in the hallway. When I reported this to front desk they pick up the cockaroach but not the food trays and trash from room service that were in the hallway from the previous night. read more

There were never any available luggage carts, I believe I saw a total of 3 carts for the entire hotel. The ice machine on my floor wasn't working, I had to search on other floors for ice. It was most difficult to get any clean towels/washcloths due to their towel washing machine not working, and there was no date to when it would be working. There are no laundry facilities on-site. The front desk person, a Filipina looking lady was always rude. Also, when I would call front desk from my room, I'd be placed on hold for 12+ minutes, then hung up on. They would not connect any incoming calls to my room, but rather would screen them and ask who is calling. (Why?) The entire hotel and my room smelt like old cigarettes, even though I had a non smoking room. Needless to say, I will NOT be staying at this location again. Came with an open mind as my in laws reserved this hotel blindly. Very kind receptionists. Attentive. But what makes the hotel horrible is the environment. Guest are rude, double tree is like a holiday inn with a "pretty" disguise. Guest were fighting outside. Now the rooms... pretty basic. But the bathroom smell!!! This Double Tree in Whittier is amazing. The lobby is beautiful! I was looking for hotels near PIH hospital (had a relative in the hospital) and decided to come to this double tree. I made two different reservations during the week. The first was for 3 rooms and then the second stay later in the week was for 2 rooms. The Front Desk Agents were very polite and accommodating. I needed at least 2 of the rooms to be connecting if possible since I have a little one. I understand that such a request isn't promised or sometimes just can't be accommodated. However, the front desk was able to have my rooms connecting. Thank you so much! The rooms are lovely. For bothe reservations I needed rooms with double beds. There was a TV with several channels I liked, The HVAC cooled the rooms quickly, and the shower "felt like a massage," one of my relatives expressed. The beds were comfortable, and they gave you several pillows. The room also has a mini fridge, a coffee maker, safe is in the closet, and the microwave was upon request. The room was big enough to have a pack n play and still have room to move around. I just want to say thank you so much. I understand that the hospitality business can be tough. Everyone at this Double Tree was just amazing. My family and I are grateful for feeling so welcomed when we were going through a tough time. Thank you again to everyone who works here! Reserved a room on 5/25 through the Hilton website for 6/8, checked my reservation on 5/31 and it had been canceled. I called the corporate number and they said I canceled the reservation 2 days prior online (I didn't). They were no help but offered to rebook my room for $100 more a night. When I called the hotel directly I was informed that a glitch in their system was allowing rooms to be reserved for a cheaper rate so they went ahead and canceled all reservations that were made at the lower rate. I never received a call or email to inform me of the canceled reservation. The front desk was not accommodating at all couldn't tell me when I would have been contacted about not having a room. I can only imagine how devastating it would be for some to go check in and be told you no longer have a reservation. BEWARE of this hotel, the last 7-8 RECENT reviews are 1 star. read more

On May 10th. Our family checked into this hotel. We are Hilton members. We hosted a beautiful sweet 16 birthday party for our daughter at The Fiesta Hall in Whittier. From day one we couldn't get a pad and pen to write on. We let that go and bought a pen at the nearest store. The refrigerator in room 619 wasn't working. We let that go. The refrigerator in room 621 was making a loud noise and we called to get that replaced with no response from any employees. Next our air conditioner wasn't working and we let that go as well. We were beyond tired. When we woke up on May 12th my daughter started her menstrual cycle. She could not move from the pain so we called the front desk for a late check out and they simply couldn't accommodate us until 1 pm without charging us a late fee. I understand rules but we were not asking for hours just 30 minutes. Mind you we have already spent almost $800 there with very little amenities and no air conditioning and we had been ignored about the refrigerator situation. There's more . When I kindly asked why they couldn't accommodate us they were cold and rude. Unfortunately I didn't get their names but we were treated beyond poorly and we were told we HAD to pay a late fee. No sympathy AT ALL. We had a room full of presents and luggage and my daughter was in pain. I simply couldn't just dart out of there. My husband went to the front desk asking for sympathy and they refused to accommodate us. I've traveled the world and I've never been treated so poorly. Since I don't have those humans names all I can say is they were working at 12 pm on Sunday May 12th at the front desk at the Whittier Double Tree and one of them had a nose ring. It gets better. Once I told them we needed a courtesy 30 minutes or more they threatened to call the authorities!!!! It pains me to even have to explain how in the world someone could treat a paying guest this horribly. They had AMBASSADORS police at the front staring us down as we proceeded to check out at about 1:45 pm. Unbelievable! The absolute worst was at approximately 11:30 am after we asked for a late check out the 2 humans at the front desk proceeded to harass us by calling our room on purpose every 4 to 5 minutes so my daughter couldn't rest. I had to disconnect the phone so it wouldn't ring anymore. I will be taking this all the way to CORPORATE! I want a complete compensation and consequences or termination of the 2 women at the front desk. I have videos to prove my case. Checked in late last evening and didn't fully inspect the room. This morning I noticed several red stains on the carpet, had them inspected by maintenance and was told sorry I think it's pen marks. Went to front desk and clerk didn't seem like they wanted to help and insisted that the stains were pen. I just wanted to move into a room that we were comfortable in. Typically when in LA, I like to stay in the Downtown area. This time around we decided to stay in Whittier. I loved it so much better than staying in DTLA. This hotel was surprisingly great. Henry at the check-in desk was exceptional! He went above and beyond and helped with our luggage up to our room. We booked two connecting rooms and they were both very clean. Around 9:30 am room service came up to check and see if we needed more towels or soaps. Check-in and check-out were both very fast and smooth. In the evening we went down to the bar and were surprised how live the ambiance was. So many folks at the bar were having a great time. Definitely staying here again next time. read more

Wife and I have been staying at this hotel the last few times we've been in Whittier! Doesn't look like a 4 star place from the outside, but don't judge the book by it's cover. The inside is clean, contemporary and staff is well trained for hospitality!! I have stayed at many Marriott's and other 4-5 star resorts. This one gives you the nice feel. Rooms are clean and beds are plush! Room service is on point and their breakfast area is worth the time. You do need to remind them of a few small things. Such as cleaning your room on a more frequent basis. Keeping the coffee filled in the lobby would be nice! Has a computer and printer to print docs for work if needed!! Decent Wi-Fi! **DON'T BE FOOLED** As to our amazement prices dropped significantly for a room on Friday may 24th .we decided to book here for the 30th -for a one night stay because of a need to be close to a funeral service for our grandbaby who had passed.We received an email today may 29th 4 days later that our stay has been canceled due to a price glitch in the online dept .So our reservation was cancelled by general management themselves and not honored .To our disappointment we called ,and everyone who had booked for these prices were being turned down. We even had drove to the facility on Saturday 26th to confirm our reservation was valid and they stated yes but now are hearing otherwise.we had booked two rooms for this night ,one for my family and the other for family coming down from up north for our grandbabies services. If only they would have been courteous enough and given us a notice earlier or even a phone call. I'm sure they will present themselves as a caring business and leave information for us to further contact them even though we've already have. The best thing about this particular Double Tree was its weekend rate as compared to the greater Los Angeles area hotels. It also saved $30-$40 bucks a night on parking. It could have been a lot better if there were more amenities on site. It is a large sized hotel with a great looking spacious lobby but that lobby does not seemed to be used properly. It should be way more inviting to guest, making them want to "hang out" , socialize. My room was average but not bad. It order to receive a better review I would have liked to also seen the rooms updated with a different décor. Over all adding a few more bells and whistles would do wonder for the structure as long as it stays priced for that location. read more

I made a reservation through booking.com for March 7 2024 and soon arrival I was told my reservation wasn't found even though I had a confirmation e-mail, so I was told to pay again and when they receive payment from booking.com I would be refunded. This hotel appears to be quite popular because there was a long line of guests waiting to check in at the time I arrived. The front desk was pretty efficient in serving customers and I was able to get served in less than five minutes. In addition the front desk hooked me up with two complimentary cookies and free WiFi access code so I saved on the $4.95 WiFi connection fee. The rooms are clean and spacious. The bed is comfy and it's quiet so you can sleep peacefully. The hotel has meeting rooms, fitness center, swimming pool and convention center. Enjoyed my stay here! Only downsides is they charge a $100 room deposit at check in and also NO microwave in the rooms but there is one in the front lobby! read more

It appears everyone ignores the fact the hotel tries the best to their ability to function. Was there this past weekend, and it was crazy. Nevertheless, they managed to do their best. Children were out of control. Knocking on doors, running the halls, and there was little to no regard from their parents. They seemed like they were coming from the event they had. The staff tried their best to manage, and I truly want to say thank you. The morning of checkout, the 2 receptionists managed well, but there was a line. Construction is happening which is INCREDIBLY loud, couldn't even speak to the person at the front desk. The poor receptionist had to wear industrial grade headphones which I doubt did anything because having a jackhammer going off literally feet away from you for hours can't be good for anyone. I had to run outside because I felt like my ears were gonna be permanently damaged just from standing there! There is no restaurant, bar or room service right now, and the rooms are not being kept up. We're in a pandemic and during my stay, there were dirty towels in the elevator when I left my room for a few hours, and the same dirty towels were still there hours later when I returned, which makes me really question how sanitary everything else is if something as simple as that can't be cleaned up. The room I stayed in had black mold, peeling wallpaper and the shower head didn't work. The people who work here are doing their best, but the owner is clearly not doing his job. They should at least offer a discount for ALL of the many inconveniences!! This is by far the dirtiest, most embarrassing Doubletree hotel I've ever stayed at. A motel would be cleaner, quieter and cheaper!! read more

Booked a king bed through RCI (3rd party reservation), on arrival the clerk checked us in but said we have a double bed (full size) because when we book through a 3rd party we whatever room is left over. On our 3rd morning at the hotel we were put in a room with a king bed, the first two nights were in a room with two full size beds. So this was my first visit to this location. As with other location and this hotel chain, I have come to expect nothing but the best from them. High expectations to say the least, but it's something that they can and usually do accomplish. Even though I checked in quite late by most standards, the night person was still very accommodating, cheerful and gracious upon check in. The hotel is well, a standard hotel, although starting to get a bit long in the tooth considering conversions by other hotels, at the time this one was done, it sure was the top of the line. As it is now, it's starting to lag a little bit behind the times, however still very well appointed, clean and ready to go when I got there. There is a nice restaurant on premises and a large parking garage attached to the hotel, as well as a fair amount of parking around the hotel. Additionally there are several restaurants that are located literally across the street from the hotel. I ended up having the breakfast in the morning, which is a tradition I usually do when traveling for business. I ended up ordering off the menu and the food was very delicious. Made to order, I was also able to use the buffet that is also a part of the morning breakfast. If you ever find yourself in the City of Industry/Whittier, you need to make sure to have this as a go to place for your stay. read more

Although she kind of had some lower expectations for it, still felt not worth the money especially compared to Vdarathe facility was kind of old, and it was really "noisy" even though she requested a quiet room at booking. I guess the request can never be met in such situations. The design of the bathroom was also strange especially for the place of bath tissues to the toilet. I've been staying here for about two years for business. I've seen a huge decline in quality. You have to know what floor or room to book if you want things to work. TV, ice machine on your floor, bath tub draining...key working consistently, no AC in the lobby for WEEKS - the list goes ON! I've only come back for the staff I've come to know and love. I feel bad because they're struggling with decline in business. Prices for food and bar are OUTRAGEOUS. I've clocked 114 days at this hotel and never once been offered an upgrade. The owner needs to wake up and invest in her hotel and the amazing people who actually stay as employees. She has loyal staff but she is obviously an awful owner. I really desperately want to give this place a 5, because I mean (1) it's DoubleTree by HILTON (2) free cookies! :). However, after staying here for 10 nights, the room was developing quite a problem. The neighborhood around it sports a lot of shops, so the location is super accessible. First, the perks. The bed is humongous and I appreciate how hard it is. I usually like to sleep on more firm mattresses, so this place was perfect. Also, the cookie was pretty good. I got the Walnut Chocolate Chip Cookie, and to my surprise, the walnut was super incorporated throughout the cookie, so it wasn't too sweet. Room is okay, not much to complain about. Here's the catch. The walls are literally paper thin. Throughout the night (and day) there was always this really loud artificial "wind" sound. I think it's probably the pipes or something, but it was super loud and was on/off the whole night. I actually think it turns on whenever a person is showering in the hotel? Or maybe the next door neighbors took really long showers (like 2 hours long...) Overall, pretty good hotel other than the really annoying rooms sound and paper thin walls. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was clean, but the hotel itself needs some cleaning and updating. Parking was free but not a lot of personal touch from staff. One of the worst experience I have ever had when staying at this/any motel. Management is rude and dismissive, I would avoid Bell the supervisor as she is absolutely no help. From the moment we checked in Richard and Bell who work the front desk were horrible to interact with. After 45 minutes of repeatedly being hung up on I finally obtained the managers name "Ben" from Bell which turned out to be a lie. So if you want to be treated with little to no respect by all means book at the Double tree in Whittier. Even after submitting a formal complaint to corporate and leaving two messages for the general manager Ryan Perera nothing has been resolved. This is the poorest example of a Hilton property and Hilton should be ashamed and embarrass that they are associated with such a under performing lack luster motel. Covid seems to have changed everything, including hotel experiences. The hotel is pleasant, and so were the staff. They're taking all the right precautions (in my opinion), and that helped me feel good about this selection. Since the amenities and kitchen are closed, there was no cookie upon arrival, but again- Covid...so I understand. It's in a great location, convenient and quiet. Also, for whatever it's worth- the elevator is actually not painfully slow! Just FYI- no microwave in the room(s), but there is one in the lobby. I had high hopes for this place as I've stayed in DoubleTree before at different location and always had a clean and pleasant stay. As well as I've done my research before booking a room at any hotel because of my fear of bedbugs. We did a 2-night stay at this hotel and on our second night, I saw a bedbug crawling on my clothes which I'd left in the bed while we were out all day. (refer to the photo). Obviously, we were not about to stay in a room with bedbugs so I asked to be moved as we were checking out the next day anyways. As we were checking out, the front desk offered to refund me 50% of our stay but since I booked with a third party (Chase Travel), I would have to talk to them about it. I spoke with Chase Travel, where I had booked that hotel, and when they spoke to the hotel, they were only giving me a 50% refund for ONE night, which was NOT communicated to me. I honestly do not think that was enough to rectify the situation and especially misleading on their end. I will not be staying in this hotel anymore. read more
