Do NOT STAY AT EPIC HOTEL IN PICO RIVERA CA The hotel manager was very rude. It was raining hard in the LA area as you've probably seen on the news. We wanted a place to stay overnight with my BF who met me there later to enjoy the New Year's Eve! It was disastrous after driving for over an hour to go 15 miles because of the weather Jay at the front desk started to check me in, but noticed that my name from Expedia was under my nickname, but my license is under my real name and I told him I have a card a credit card that has the nickname on it. He started raising his voice and saying he had been duped by a guy who had two rooms because he used a different name...he said if he allowed me in that he would have to pay out of his pocket for the room! I put my head down and disgustrather than fighting with him! What a waste! After about 20 minutes, he finally checks me and gives me a key to a room That was dirty! It scared me that somebody was in there because the door was unlocked and open. I had to go back downstairs in the rain with my luggage and he did not apologize. He just gave me the keys to another room. He walked ahead of me and never offered to help with luggage! Fricking idiot! The hall smelled of pee and the room was slightly better, but it still smelled so I lit a couple candles just an awful awful experience! The owner should know about this, but if they are from India, they are just as bad as their managers because I've had dealings with people from India and I'm not a racist. I love everyone and I've been in technology IT for twenty seven years and some of my best employees are from India and they are professional, and I love working with them, but the people who come here from India to America and manage and own hotels, they bring their caste system with them. This is America dammit one of the most diverse countries in the world and we get mistreated by them but never ever ever again will I stay at a motel or a hotel that is run by people from India with an attitude. Every stay in Indian run Motels in Long Beach (Inn at 50 on Atlantic in Long Beach)Don't stay there either!! there were holes in the screen in the bathroom where somebody had broken in. They're close to downtown Long Beach We should've stayed in Long Beach at the Hilton or the Marriott or the Hyatt, but decided wewould go into LA to be adventurous and bring the new year in. Our plans were to go out for a New Year's dinner and drink but we felt un safe in the neighborhood Do not stay there! I heard a woman screaming like a someone was hitting her and I told him because I was downstairs asking for toothpaste... He said "give me two dollars cash and I will give you toothpaste". What a tool!he said if you don't pay for it and I give it to you, it comes out of my pocket OMG I couldn't wait to get out of there. ...about the woman he said oh that's a woman with children. We needed to attend a funeral in Whittier and our son from New York City was also flying in. Just needed to stay a night at a hotel close by and our son found this place with a room with three queen size beds which is very rare. This is by no means a fancy hotel but what we got was very reasonable and served our purpose perfectly. The room was really spacious and it was clean. The beds were very comfortable. There was no ants or dead bugs like some yelpers were saying. The shower worked well and there's even a very spacious walk-in closet. Overall we had a very pleasant and comfortable stay at a very reasonable price. read more

The Epic Hotel isn't that Epic. First the pros: Front desk check in was friendly and quick. Parking was available off street. The room was pretty much clean Cons: Key didn't work the 1st I tried getting in the room. Beds are very firm, too firm for my liking Multiple little things in the room need attention. The outlet cover pictured below, the ring around the shower nozzle was comming off the wall. Water pressure was ok The bathroom door always wanted to open unless you fully closed it The info bar on the tv wouldn't disappear The main Con was that the walls were paper thin. I heard 2 adults having fun, and talking till 3 or 4 am. I wouldn't bring young kids to the hotel unless you wanna explain what's going on in the room next door. The Wife and I booked a room here for two nights based solely on the reviews in Yelp and Booking dot com. Photos were great too. Upon arriving we felt like we were victims of some kind of joke. From the outside the place has the look of a woman's prison according to The Wife. I walked into the "lobby" and the check in counter was enclosed with safety glass. That never ends well, but it was late, we had a funeral the next morning and we were tired. We unloaded the car with some trepidation. The gentleman behind the glass said the room was "right down there" pointing a finger to a block of rooms. We figured the room was at the end of the block, so we moved the car, but the room was not there. We returned to the original parking spot, and I got out to look around. Upon searching there was a second block of rooms down a hallway behind the first block of rooms. The hallway had all the charm of the L.A. Aqueduct when it's dry. Entering the room we were hit with a strong musty smell of marijuana. There was no coffee maker. The side table to the bed was broken. Linens on the bed were of the lowest quality, likely purchased at a prison supply clearance sale. However, the bed was good, and the pillows were fluffy. We figured since we use CPAP machines and were going to bed quickly the smell would be filtered. Luckily it was. We opened the bedroom window to be met with a cinderblock wall. Nice view. Next morning we went to shower, see the photo of the shower head. Crusted in calcium and probably something else. That was it, we packed the car immediately and went to the funeral with everything in the car and looked for another hotel afterwards. It is obvious that the majority of the reviews for this place are manufactured by the owners. This place is a long way from acceptable. read more

He gave me law enforcement discount and made sure I got what I needed for a good price. Any law enforcement that need to stay at pico Rivera stay here and they will make sure to we are taken care of. If I could put less than one star I would. So incredibly rude, gave us not one, not two, but three FILTHY rooms with stains on the beds and floor. Dead bugs and dust and hair all over, and the horrible guest service. When we tried to talk to the front desk he argued with us, made us go to to the room to show him yelling at us the whole time- telling us to "check the online reviews" ? And then after showing us a room he then called our room we finally settled for to tell us he's not going to approve the refund we asked for after not being able to provide a clean room. Disgusting. Horrible service, you get less than what you paid for ! We had booked through Expedia, and the man at the hotel lied to them saying we checked in three hours before we had arrived and that was the reason for the non refund. read more

Ok so, off top: I've stayed in 4 and 5 star joints. Based on the room alone, this is definitely a 3. The room is clean, relatively modern but with some dings and dents here and there. The bed is comfortable, the linen is ever so slightly dingy and thin and I saw a review where they mentioned the tv remote in the room not working. Same here. Which was fine. I don't even watch tv, all like that. Also as mentioned in other reviews, my man at the front desk was mad cool (and funny.) The neighborhood is...interesting. Sidewalks were clean, not a lot of litter. There are several pretty damn good Mexican food spots within walking distance. Then it's mostly liquor stores, gas stations and......some kind of milk store.....because I guess milk is a thing over here? Which is all alright. I grew up in the 'hood and I detected very small, trace elements of 'hood s#!t in the area. Nothing dangerous though like some of these other reviews seem to suggest. The reverberation of ANY sound in this place is salient but some of the happenings behind the thin a&& walls of this joint are kinda suss. Again, not dangerous just.....raunch. On several days of my stay...... If you can handle all that then, you're good to go. Conclusion: y'all are playing by calling it Epic Hotel. It might be Epic but maybe not how y'all mean it. I booked this hotel as a quick rest for my family and I. After a long day we were excited about the sleep we were about to get, until we were interrupted by a lady next door to us moaning loudly for hours. With the walls being paper paper thin we had went downstairs to the lobby where no supervisor or even any worker was there. This whole dirty, disgusting, and disrespectful situation went on our whole night with no way to block it out. We knocked on the walls, on their door aswell. Poor customer service. read more

Definitely find else where to stay. I booked this room through Expedia for $135, got check in, and the room smelled, the towels and linen were old, floors had lots of stains. Then I found an alarming white powder in the air conditioner. That was the final straw, so I went to the front desk, asked the manager what that was to which he came and checked out the room and said Freon... I was exhausted so I went to bed but not under the covers cause I really didn't trust it. Woke up at six and by 8 AM was asking for a refund and complaining because there wasn't even hot water to take a shower. I left, called Expedia. I stayed here for one night. I stayed in the "Deluxe King Bed Room". The room was spacious enough. The bed was comfortable. What was a little odd was how high the bed was, but was no issue for me. The AC worked great. WiFi was fantastic. Parking is pretty easy and I felt safe. The owner who checked me in was very friendly and check in was a breeze. The property, when I stayed, was quiet. The hotel is close to many places to eat and shop. There's a mini fridge in the room but I wish they had a microwave. Rooms seem to be newly renovated, which was nice. This was particularly most noticeable in the bathroom. Floors look nice and new as well. I recommend this hotel if you're looking for something a little cheaper. read more

Easy review. We booked 2 nights. Only stayed one. They did not have handicapped room that was booked. We were put on the second floor. We had them move us. What I liked: I liked the parking, the price, the room was modern and clean. What I didn't like: Bathroom has a slot for Kleenex but no Kleenex. There was no bedspread. We had to ask for a blanket. There was a slot for a microwave but not in our room. We were told to go the the office when they open and use theirs. Bed was really high. I'm 6 feet tall and when I sat on the edge my feet were still a good 3-4 inches off the floor. The mattress was super firm and not comfortable. The sheets we not fitted and came untucked all the time. There were no lamps on the table. Only on the walls above each side of the bed. There was no clock in the room and no USB for charging. King bed with 2 small standard pillows. The walls were so thin we could hear talking on both sides of our room. The hallways and the parties were like an echo chamber to late into the night. In the morning the garbage cans near parking were full of empty beer bottles and clothes, yes clothes. We checked out early when a guest kept coming out of his room talking nonsense, every time we arrived. The last straw was when he offered to sell us something to get high on. We left 10 minutes later. We felt it wasn't safe. read more

I really like this hotel and anticipated when I was looking at online that I'd have a good experience and glad I went with it. It is newer and remodeled. Kind of sits in an area that I thought was a little awkward but honestly it works out. It's located right next to a gas station and in between an apartment complex. Across the street is NORMS Restaurant where one can grab breakfast lunch or dinner. You go straight down any one of the streets and it will connect you to the neighboring cities. It's actually really convenient. And for the price and considering that all the other hotels in the area of Commerce, Downey etc that I was looking at we're all sold out this was available and I think it was the best one anyways!!!! The rooms are super clean. I must alert you that the bed is extremely high.... in my room was a king size bed and I know that it was an extra firm but I was able to find a position and get a little comfortable when I slept. I didn't notice any bedbugs or any strange things in the room that wouldn't make me think it was less than acceptable. The AC worked very well. I was on the first floor and felt safe. The windows do not open. The walls are somewhat thin and you can hear if someone bed was near yours the talking but other than that it wasn't anything that the police or management had to be called. The other guest were pretty respectful. I did take notice that my room was no smoking but there was a cigarette burn on the shower curtain. That's kind of interesting because if I was management I would put that curtain with the cigarette burn in the smoking room because they are more prone to leave burns seeing that I'm a non smoker ;). Anyhow, the room was nicely decorated and modern!!!! I really like it here. Although I don't ever sleet under the blankets and have paranoia about them damn bed bugs, I was so pleased at how clean this place was. I'm the type that sprayed my he place with Lysol and I also keep a clean room. The hotel took pride in the appearance of the room and so do I. I never leave a mess for the house cleaners. They have ample parking and nothing happened to my vehicle. The ice machine is conveniently located on the first floor. I know there not any morning breakfast or any special snacks they out but for the price, quality of the room and safety, that's priceless and it's comforting to have a peace of mind. I stay here often and this hotel has wonderful customer service! The last time I stayed my friend had lost her keys in the room. While we waited for her boyfriend to bring the spare, the gentlemen overseeing the hotel allowed us and our 3 children inside the lobby to watch cartoons. This hotel treats their customers like family. Luckily, house keeping found her keys and they were returned the next day. I highly recommend this hotel. read more

I just stayed here last night and I'm going to rate it using my "BEAUTIFUL/GOOD/BAD & UGLY " Scale: THE BEAUTIFUL : It really is quite a colorful and pretty motel! Clearly one of the very best within a 10 mile radius! Please remember, this is a MOTEL AND NOT A HOTEL!! It is not fair to compare it to HILTON or HOLIDAY INN! It was cozy and the amenities are all brand new! To quote Arnold, "I'll be back!!" THE GOOD: For this particular area (near where I was raised) the price is fair, and you're getting a clean and fresh place to stay! One of the best things about this place is that it is a short distance away from one of my favorite family restaurants: NORMS! The interior and exterior are very clean and very easy on the eyes. It has a fridge and freezer combo. The shower is very spacious but does have some drawbacks. (See bad below) THE BAD: Well, I'll start with trying to find the motel. If you're lucky enough to arrive via Rosemead Blvd you will have no trouble! But if you're like me and come via Beverly from the west (eastbound), google maps will have you turn into a dead end alley next to it! Now let's talk about the view from out of my window- there wasn't any! There was only a white brick wall about a half meter away. If you like firm mattresses, you're going to love this place! But for me, it was entirely too firm. The shower, although very spacious, had nowhere to put anything!! Not one shelf or anything to put you hygiene items! Finally, the shower was very slippery! Look to be honest this us not the Hilton or the Ritz Carlton , hence the 4 star rating. I have some minor complaints that old of made it less but one reason it gets a four star. It's the manager Jay the few times mycseof and my fiancé have stayed there he is always so welcoming and friendly. We had a few mishaps this visit. Fir one thing there was no remote for the tv and know iron. I informed Jay of this and he jumped to it and got me both. Second the ironing board in the room we stayed in 138 was broken . We were running late so I improvised and placed a towel on the night stand ( heck I've done that at home lol). Now we didn't get back to the hotel from our event until 5 am. The place was quiet not creepy or nothing . Inlike tobfl asleep to the tv going, but the remote Jay gave me earlier didn't work (shrug). but we had a nice sleep. As we checked out I ran into Jay before I dropped off the key. Told him the issues I had and he apologized and asked why I didn't tell him he would if replaced it. I told it was fine. So here's the think maybe have the cleaning staff do a bit more cleaning like wiping down the front doors once and a while presentation is everything. Our fool had scrapes and looked like foot marks. And to clean the A/C unit once and a while check and change the filters . Other than that it's a nice little place to lay your head . And again thanks to Jay and the staff we've encounter. DO NOT STAY HERE! Absolute EPIC FAIL! Reserved a room with a king size bed and upon check-in was given a room with 2 beds. Then, was switched to a room with a king bed, but right across the way was a very loud group of gang members having a birthday party. Called the front desk and all the desk clerk offered was the same two bedded room I was first given. Front desk clerk never dealt with the gang members and ended up calling the police. Noise kept going until 3:30am and my wife and I finally left. Room had graffiti painted on the bathroom vanity from gang members. read more

I really liked that they had cameras set up in the parking lot, overlooking that whole area. Customer service is ok! Experienced a few issues within our stay. First, the room smelled really bad, and with the humidity of the room it stank. Secondly, there was a dried up hot Cheeto in the AC unit , a gummy worm in the AC vent just dangling up from the ceiling, a bottle cap on the floor. Nice for the price! The location is interesting and the neighborhood is a little rough looking. This is apparent by the window over the front counter (like a ticket box office). Also, there are constant sound of sirens and horns from trains. However, the parking lot is secure and there are security cameras everywhere. Myself and my car were secure during my four day stay. I chose to stay here because it was 10mins from family I was visiting. The check-in itself took less than 2 minutes. I gave my name, showed my ID and was given a key, no real conversation. I was not even required to keep a credit card on file (which I found odd because I made my reservation through a 3rd party site). The room I had was on the 2nd floor. It had obviously just been remodeled. It was very SIMPLE and nice and clean. It had very basic amenities, so don't expect anything fancy. It had a very tall and firm king size bed (just sheets & thin comforter, no blanket although one is available), a t.v. and mini fridge (no microwave & no alarm clock) and other standard items. The bathroom was very large and had a full tub\shower. Bring your own shampoo, etc. They have them but they are not the best quality. I made a quick run to the Target down the road and got what I needed. My window did not open and overlooked an apartment complex and ally with graffiti, so my shades stayed close the entire time. Again, not the most desirable neighborhood. I spent most of my time out and about and just came back to sleep. My only negative about my stay (beside location) are the VERY THIN walls. I could hear everything from rooms next door. I was stuck my last night between very colorful and loud talkers and an over excited couple . I had to drown out the very "adult" noises by leaving my tv on. So my suggestion would be to bring earplugs. Other than that I would stay hear again, good price, clean and in the area I needed. I needed a place to stay near my sister in law's house and this was so convenient! The rates were so affordable especially on a Saturday night, i hope this doesn't change! Coming in from the street I was a little skeptical and nervous about how the hotel was going to turn out but once I turned into the parking lot, I was impressed. Looked very new and modern. Checking in was easy, they were already ready for us and the staff was so friendly. He accommodated me and my family very well and put us in their largest room. When we got in the room we noticed how big it really was, way more than we needed for the quick stay but it was really nice! The bathroom was really clean, big closet, nice work area and little couch for comfort. We had 2 queen sized beds which were a perfect fit. I must say I was very impressed! The ONLY thing I would comment on is the firmness of the bed. It was really firm and not much comfortable. Check out is at 11 am and the next morning I woke up at 1045!! They were very accommodating for us when I asked for at least an hour. He asked how our stay was and everyone was just so friendly! I look forward to coming back if I'm in the area again read more

Everything in this hotel looks new. I paid $112 for a Saturday night which was SUPER inexpensive. I believe the hotel is privately owned so upon check-in the receptionist didn't seem to care to give us a brief description of the amenities which is why I'm giving 4 stars.. they need to be friendlier. Make sure to print a copy of your reservation when you reserve your room so you have proof of the price when you check in & pay. I did not get an email confirming my reservation for that date. & upon check-in prices obviously go up since it's the day of.. There is a Mobil gas station next to the hotel. New and clean. This place is a remodel. Overall, it is clean, and probably the cleanest in the area. It's very hard to beat for the price. But there are some issues. Comforter was visibly stained, no shelf for soap/shampoo in the shower, and the neighborhood is questionable at best. Some of the finish work is sloppy, like baseboards not glued properly, missing pictures with leveling lines drawn(I thought that was odd), electrical plates did not cover the cutout, etc. Small details, but none the less a minus. If staying in the area, I would stay here again due to it being new and relatively clean. read more

1st I would like to praise Jay the front desk guy. He was great & very hospitable. This Hotel is more like a Motel. It's a haven for 24 hr foot traffic. Stayed for 3 nights & during the night heavy car traffic in & out. The room next door had someone knocking on the door every 30 min. Btw I booked the hotel through the website. Most amenities listed don't exist. Upgraded to the suite. That doesn't exist either. Carpet in the 1st room was disgustingly dirty. Switched rooms & carpet was not as dirty. looks nothing like the amazing pictures on the website. If your looking for a low profile motel that does not require a credit card for incidentals & pay cash. This is the place. read more

I recently stayed at this location in July 2019. I was able to book about 5 days out and had a fairly decent price of $170 for two days. Pros: Location with easy access to inexpensive food (El Pollo Loco, Subway, ETC.) Hotel appears to be remodeled so, everything is still new. Security lights keep the parking light lit well. The bed is very firm Cons: No breakfast The neighborhood is about a 5 out of 10, not that great but not that good. If you want to soak there is only a shower. You can hear the water running through the walls. You can hear the people in the next room. The view from the back window is a brick wall. Overall it is a good place to stay for short term. read more

Both beds in our room had a ton of long black hairs. We told the "manager" and he said "it's clean" paid for late checkout since I didn't get off of a job I was on until 6am when we checked in. They called the room phone and told us we had to leave. They came in the room without knocking and asked us to leave while we were sleeping. At 11am. Paid for 2pm checkout. When I told him he acted like he didn't know what I was talking about. When I called to talk to a manager he told me that there are no managers or supervisors. Also told me it wasn't his problem that I got very little sleep. $125 and we got a total of 4.5 hours of sleep. read more

Jay at the from desk was VERY helpful. I stayed June 7 (for a Conference in Pick Rivera). I asked Jay to hold my reservation (got a flat time on my way) and he happily did. Arriving late to the hotel, Jay still helped me with directions to my destination the next day, changed my room to the first floor (due to my heavy suitcase), let me know where to drop off the key (because I was to leave early morning). After my stay, I had thought I left my glasses in the room - and Jay was happy to look, but it turned out that I packed them differently due to wearing my contacts for the conference. (I understand that the housekeeper is also a minister and returns every full wallet, jewelry and Rolex watches, etc left in rooms!).
