Christmas dinner at highway robbery prices. Because no one else was open and they took full advantage of the fact. Buffett style and thrown out table desserts. The best part ...fold out picnic tables covered in linen, can you say cheesy? Waitress was friendly, food was warm, the plates were hotter. At least we had somewhere to eat ....but to charge over $100 for 2 adults and 3 kids, scam. Best part.. Table was right in front of the kitchen doors. Lovely. I still can't believe I didn't walk out...must have been desperate.... Oh that's right nothing else was available. read more

Love the location and warm cookies. Just wish it wasn't so pricey. Staff was very helpful.

Although the room was of common expectations, the money we spent here was not worth it. You get nothing above and beyond the norm. they charge 17 a head for breakfast here, when you can get it free at a cheaper hotel Down the street. We had party of 11 eat dinner on Friday night. The restaurant was DEAD. And it took 3 hours. We ordered apps and never did get them complete, and the dinners were room temperature and just ....Ah... Nothing too spectacular. The manager was a grumpy guy who didn't want fix anything. It took 30 minutes to get a soda in the. Morning when we had breakfast. Fairly nice hotel itself, clean and nice location. However, I'd avoid the restaurant, and your money is better spent at comfort inn where they greet you with free donuts and popcorn upon arrival and the breakfast is included in your $60 cheaper room. I really like this hotel when staying in Durango. Location is great with close walking distance to downtown shops and restaurants. The hotel is situated right on the Animas River which makes for easy sleeping nights in the warmer months with the sound of the river rushing by. Rooms have always been clean and ready for check-in whenever I arrive. Internet access is generally very fast compared to many other hotels I've stayed at. Beware of high room rates in peak season. read more

Hands down the worst brunch experience I have ever had. It took 10-15 minutes to be greeted and seated. Waitress CLEARLY had better things to do than serve us and was beyond rude for no reason. My omelette was great however my sisters "cookie" pancakes were totally burnt. I've had better pancakes at Denny's... Along with better service. Don't get a waffle, because it's $11. Just for a waffle, that was over done. It took them 20 + minutes to take our bill, and our waitress completely disappeared after she dropped off our food. It was such a terrible experience, I signed up for Yelp just to let everyone know to spend your hard earned money else where. I am beyond disappointed. read more

Location is great. If you're up for walking, you can walk to the historic downtown for drinks, dinner, and shopping. Warm cookies were a nice treat everyday. The indoor pool and jacuzzi were convenient and a nice amenity. Clean room, for the most part, minor stain on couch and lipstick stain on window, but nothing that kept us away. read more

My kids want me to start this review by giving a shout out to the daily, homemade chocolate chip cookies that are given to their guests daily. Don't miss them. Other than that, this hotel was literally the most friendly staff and best service of any chain hotel we have stayed at. I highly recommend this location if you find yourself in the Durango area. It is also in the same parking lot as one of the adventure companies as well as Albertson's which was great for us as we were on a road trip. The Animus River is right outside the hotel and our room had an amazing view. Be sure to raft the river if you get the chance. We will definitely be back. read more

Not impressed - I am a statused traveler with Hilton and this is one of the properties that does not live up to the normal level of service for the brand - beds were terrible, housekeeping was meh at best, front desk staff rude and put out every time we needed something and unfortunately wifi was slow.... I loved the location but uncertain if I will use this hotel again for return trips to Durango - oh and the breakfast! The waiter attempted to keep our coupon which had another 5 days on it - asked for it back and he was gone for 5 mins - guessing he was planning on keeping it for himself - that was funny! read more

Great place to stay in Durango, close to downtown and all the buzz of Durango. Right on the river, beautiful views. Rooms were spacious and very clean. Staff was friendly and attentive. Love having two sinks in the room. The only thing I was not happy about was the price for room service and all the additional fees and taxes on room service. We had a sick kiddo one morning so we had to stay in and order breakfast. I was ok with the price of our food since room service is typically expensive, although I don't understand why. BUT there was an extra $16 in fees on our bill. Breakfast for two ended up costing almost $60 by the time we tipped the server. The restaurant is in the hotel people, what the heck do you need to charge another 22% plus a delivery fee and a large tax! It's not like the dude had to drive across town to deliver our mediocre breakfast!!! Other than that I would definitely stay here again. Very nice warm, welcoming atmosphere. One of the best in Durango by far! read more

I'm giving this review 5 stars because of our entire experience, although this is not a 5 star hotel. It IS, however, a wonderful place to stay in Durango! My husband suggested we go to Durango for our honeymoon, and I was very excited, as I love it there! We also wanted to bring our sweet dog, and after much research decided on this hotel. Upon our arrival, we were greeted promptly, checked in effortlessly, and handed warm cookies and dog treats. We chose a first floor room with a river view, which was very convenient for our walks. The Animas river trail runs directly behind the hotel. There is also an off-leash dog are across the road (Hwy. 160), which is super convenient. We had a king room, which was very spacious, and there was a complimentary bottle of champagne, a card signed by the hotel staff, and a dog placemat, bowl, and more treats. The room was very clean and everything was in working order. We opted for room service one evening and split an Artisan pizza. It was very good, and a large size too. I was pleasantly surprised. We slept comfortably and there wasn't much noise other than people walking down the hall occasionally, as with any hotel. We are looking forward to staying here again, and I would recommend this property highly. While I agree that it is a bit pricey, one has to look at the big picture. It's in Durango, CO, gorgeous area, right on the river, convenient location (walking distance to Main Ave., train, etc), and it is a pet friendly property with easy access to pet comforts. Overall, we were very pleased with our entire experience! read more

Our family had Christmas dinner at the Double Tree. It appeared as though it had all been brought in from the outside. Entree served within 7 minutes ordering, the salads came 2nd, and one was the wrong salad. Potatoes were cold, broccoli was limp and not much. Dessert was still frozen when we got it. They use to have a buffet that was very nice. This was awful. For $160 before tip we were disgusted! Find another place. read more

I was surprised at the attitude of the front desk, very arrogant . I work for one of our many government agencies that works 24/7 to ensure that 9/11 does NOT happen again. We put our life on the line every day we walk out our front door to protect the American public. I asked for the government rate when I was checking in and was told that the rate was $228.00 per night and he would not give me any discount. This is the thanks and support we get from the Doubletree manager. Too bad we can't profile. read more

A lovely place to stay in Durango. Our beautiful river view and the warm cookies were definitely highlights for the kids. Dinner in their restaurant delicious, and the staff was very warm and welcoming. Our room was clean, everything worked, and the beds were crisp and inviting. We were recommended to this hotel by a dear friend who comes to Durango often. We will definitely stay here again. read more

Really enjoyed the hotel and spend a lot of time in hotels for work. Location and comfortable bed would recommend. Happy hour a joke need to improve on the snacks and $1.00 to .50 cents off really. Breakfast very good with coupon and enjoyed the view and staff. will stay here again for sure. read more

Don't let four stars fool you. It is a good rating and means I will definitely go back there. Great updated hotel with historic details. Friendly staff and nice rooms. Good location if you want to walk to downtown Durango. read more

Not a bad thing to say about this hotel. Every staff member was friendly, room was clean and comfortable. Great views of the river and even better snow play areas for the kids. Would definitely stay here again next time we are in Durango. read more

Usually hotels make a point of not putting women traveling alone in rooms that are on the lowest floor where anyone could be up on the balcony trying to get in while you sleep. There is an extra lock on the bottom of the door but it didn't line up so not useable. Took more than an hour and two calls to get anyone to come look at it. If I open the curtain, anyone could be looking in from the parking lot, so no natural light for 2 nights. Won't be back even though I have reason to be in Durango regularly. read more

The building is an older property but the staff could have not been more friendly and professional. We chose to stay here because it is in the center of many local attractions. Historic downtown area is right across the street and taking a morning stroll along the River Walk located behind the building that stretches for several miles in each direction was an added bonus. read more

This does not refer to the accommodations but the resturant! We were visiting and went there for the Thanksgiving Dinner with family. In a word HORRIBLE! Absolutely the worst meal I have ever had in any resturant! Three of us had the turkey dinner for $22. The turkey consisted of what you would see at the bottom of a soup pot...threads! No meat just shreds of turkey and a very tiny scoop of dressing and mashed potato. A tiny salad as well. Here is the kicker the so called turkey was unbelievably salty that we had to keep getting water and could not get the waitress to come by so had to flag down buss people to get water. Of we asked for cranberry sauce and the waitress was not sure if they had any! My nephew got the hamburger for $18 that was slightly larger than a slider!!! His burger was desiccated to the point it was almost a briquette!!! I suggest never eating here for any meal!!! read more

I arrived at the hotel on a Saturday afternoon about 4 PM for a three-night stay. I was paying $200.00 a night and was expecting a quality experience. I was assigned to a room on the first floor next to an area used for receptions. At the time of my arrival, they were setting up this area for a wedding reception that evening. By 7 PM the wedding was beginning and was producing quite a bit of noise despite having my sliding door to the balcony closed. I called the desk and inquired how long this wedding would last and was told midnight. I complained about the noise but was told that the hotel was full and there was nothing they could do. About 10 PM the noise was so loud that I could not hear the TV in my own room. This is NOT an exaggeration! I telephoned the desk again and complained bitterly about the noise. A few moments after I hung up, I received a call from someone other than the desk clerk and was told that they miraculously found another room for me. This person arrived at my door a few minutes later with the requested bellmen's cart. She told me that I never should have been assigned to that room and that my night's stay would be free. I replied that I "expected no less". At my request, I moved myself to a third floor room with a well worm carpet and a beautiful view of the parking lot. The best thing I can say about it was that it was quiet. I ate breakfast in the hotel's restaurant and found it quite ordinary and overpriced. The food a Denny's across the street was cheaper and better. The only good thing this hotel has going for it was its location with walking access to the narrow gauge railroad and the downtown area. I expected a quality experience for the money I was paying and was sorely disappointed. read more
