The rooms are clean but in desperate need of updating. The biggest problem was when a pipe burst Saturday night and water poured out of the ceiling into the bar/restaurant area. For a couple of hours, we had no water pressure in our room. Things like that can't be helped, but management didn't offer any compensation whatsoever for the inconvenience. Disturbing and Disappointing Experience at DoubleTree Appleton, Wisconsin! We were appalled and disgusted upon checking into our room at the DoubleTree in Appleton, Wisconsin. The bed had visible bloodstains, which is unacceptable and raises serious HEALTH concerns about the hotel's cleanliness and hygiene standards. To make matters worse, when we reported the issue to the front desk, we were told that they "don't do beds" and were offered only a set of sheets to resolve the problem. The staff member who brought the sheets even acknowledged that it was "gross" but didn't seem to take any further action. SHE TOLD US TO MAKE THE BED! The attached photo shows the bloodstains on the bed, which speaks for itself. We are extremely disappointed in the hotel's response and lack of attention to detail. It is inexcusable for a hotel of this caliber to neglect something so fundamental as cleanliness. The bathroom is not much better. The bathtub was grimy, and they did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO RESOLVE THESE MATTERS! Clearly, there is no loyalty in their brand. The hotel was very clean through out entire facility. Room was open and clean. Pool closed at 11, wish it was later especially since they typically have 3 people in the lobby at night. My go to restaurant whenever I'm in town! Between the annual summer quinceanera or the holidays I almost always stay t the doubletree!! Their breakfast buffet, complimentary cookies and water are a huge perk for me!! Rooms have always been clean and cozy! Staff is slays approachable and friendly! I stayed here for a week on 2 separate occasions. The first week my bed had duct tape on it, splatters of ominious stains in the bathroom, a shower with mold progressing and a door that could easily kill a small child. The second week my room was lovely, obviously they need some updates as their towels don't match, some of the furniture had some serious wear and tear, but overall the second week was much better. One thing that drives me crazy in a cold weather area is a jacuzzi that is unkept. The jets don't work. it was maybe a lukewarm temperature. BUT it was clean so kudos on that. Honestly the hotels saving grace is the bar/restaurant. Steve, Harmony, Sienna and Tara are phenomenal bartenders that make me genuinely want to come to this hotel again, despite the jacuzzi being a sad, smaller version of their pool. All in all, my company paid for my stay here so I don't have too much regret but if it was my own money I probably would've complained more. This hotel is in serious need of some upgrades read more

I must admit that my time at this DoubleTree was extremely brief, flying into MKE late for a short business trip and not arriving at the hotel until after midnight was a marathon in itself! Then leaving at 8am the next morning left me with little time to really experience this property to the extent that I would have liked to. The hotel is located easily off I-41 and was happy to find free parking which seems to not be the norm at most DoubleTree properties I've stayed at. The day prior to arrival I received email notification that my room was upgraded to a Jr. Suite, which was very nice. Upon my arrival the front desk clerk was very quick to get me a key to my room but neglected to offer me a cookie, but since I was so beat from the long drive it didn't even occur to me until I got up to my room - so I quickly dismissed the idea of a late-night snack. My room (702) was extremely spacious with a very comfortable king bed, well equipped bathroom, great desk area space, sofa, large wall mounted TV and mini-fridge and coffee maker! The next morning, I got up and at 'em and was out of the hotel by 8am, no time for breakfast - grabbed a quick Starbucks on the way to the office and called it a day at the DoubleTree. Next time I am in the area, I have no doubt I'd stay again and hopefully that time will permit me with more time to experience and enjoy the property! read more

The key judgement for me on the quality of a hotel are service, cleanliness, and comfort. This property fails two of the three. Carpets are not clean throughout - room, hallway, elevator, and more. We requested housekeeping and it was not done, so we requested again and received it. Front desk staff was pleasant. Complimentary coffee was good. I don't like leaving poor reviews, but... this place just isn't the best. It needs some help. I stayed here a couple times and it just isn't to the standard of DTs that I've stayed. The people behind the front desk are... ok to say the best. As a Hilton Honors member, I usually get a couple bottles of water per stay. Both times I've stayed I've had to ask and usually I'm met with a blank look and then "oh, yeah, we got some over there if you want them"... I just returned from a week long trip to Appleton. I must say the service at this hotel is great, ideal location within walking distance of so many places to eat, and it's very clean. As long as you don't mind dealing with the parking being in an attached garage (which I don't.). It's definitely my new go to when in the area. read more

Young lady at the front desk was very pleasant. Got into our room and there were two dirty diapers (ugh) in the garbage can. When I called down to the front desk, someone was knocking within 10 minutes. Not sure why the other garbage had been emptied but that one wasn't. {{shrugging}}. Water pressure in the shower was the WORST...Drainage in the sink took forever...pressure to flush the toilet was pretty minimum (double-tap was needed just to get the paper to go down). Was here a few weeks ago. Reserved a junior suite. I let hotel chose the room and they gave me room 700. Had issues with the sink draining and the overall layout of room. Sink was worked on but not fixed. Not truly a junior suite. This time they put me in the same room so I choose another room. I arrived at airport and the hotel shuttle wasn't running. Had to take Uber. Got to hotel and restaurant was serving by food. Then desk staff informed me the room I chose was not available and the only room available was room 700. Lock on door broken and slow draining sink still an issue. I can't imagine the rooms they give to non-Diamond members... Disappointed. read more

We stayed at this location and gave it a second chance when we were in town. Unfortunately, we do not plan on returning. This stay was worse than last. The rooms have stickers on them showing they have been cleaned and sanitized. I think that is a great feature but it also concerns me for safety and security purposes. I feel this process lets outsiders know what rooms are taken and what rooms are open. The cleanliness of this hotel is why my rating is so low. When we entered our room there was a washcloth hanging from the shower curtain. We brushed it off and figured it could be easily missed. When we turned on the lights there were ring marks from glasses on the desk and dresser. I understand that there can be stains over time but this was not the case. The surfaces did not look to be wiped down. We went to check the beds and there were 2 dirty napkins right next to the nightstand. We called the front desk to switch rooms and they were extremely accommodating. We were moved to an updated room. However- after inspecting this room, it appeared that there was red vomit crusted on the shower as well as the floor next to the toilet. The beds were still as uncomfortable as our last stay so it wasn't just bad luck. There was garbage all over the hotel. There were pizza boxes and trash in the halls. That is understandable and out of the staff's control but was not giving me the warm and fuzzies. There was constantly trash and dirt in the elevators throughout our stay. There were people in town for a hockey tournament and masks were not worn in the lobby or in the elevators. I know I am just walking through but with COVID I feel public areas especially the main entrance need to have masks enforced. It is not fair to others that are trying to protect themselves to have to walk through guests that don't care during the pandemic. If we didn't book through a 3rd party we would have asked for a refund and stayed elsewhere. read more

I stay at the Doubletree by Hilton Appleton often for business. Front desk service and bar food and drinks are always good, but the cleanliness of the hotel is another story. I'm appalled right now at the shower drain in my room (room number 529 on 02/26/2020). The giant clump of hair is disgusting. I brought this up to the front desk immediately after finding the hair, but there were no more rooms for me to switch into... so I am not able to even shower tonight. This makes me second guess how well the sheets are cleaned that I'm sleeping on, or even if housekeeping cleans and disinfects my room at all. I'm so turned off by this Hilton hotel. read more

This is not a hotel to stay at if you want to relax and possibly get some sleep. Wedding band is loud with bass pounding through the floor and walls and it is 3 floors down. You can hear the people in the next room being sick. Unless you are planning to attend a wedding here, find a different hotel. read more

Our room was a suite (the one with bunk beds) and it was lovely. Very modern through the entire hotel, the lobby is stunning. The staff from front desk to housekeeping was very nice, welcoming, helpful, and to me, most importantly, fast. However, one of the sinks didn't drain, one of the toilets didn't flush, and I found the description of the room to be quite different than the actual room. The description mentions a dinning table (where?), there was no mention of two bathrooms, which I don't mind so much. I requested an add on for my room and never received it (however they didn't end up charging me for it either). It was dusty in some higher to reach spots (like, really dusty) such as the head boards and tops on picture frames and mirrors. One of the chairs had obvious, frankly gross stains on it. Basic amenities like coffee, cups, and towels were missing. There's hardly any lighting in the room so it felt cave like when the sun fell. However, there is a TON of closet space, the beds are comfy, and the two bathrooms with full showers is a plus in the long run (just wish I would've know ahead of time is all). The bathrooms were very clean as well. It says it can sleep six but you can comfortably get away with 7. We didn't get a chance to check out other amenities like the pool due to COVID and our schedule. The four stars is really based on the inaccurate room description and the problems with the sink and toilet. I paid about $200 for this room so that was a just a let down. I'd still recommend this hotel all in all. read more

I am writing this email in extreme disappointment and frustration!   I booked a room 1/1 to 1/3 for a trip to Wisconsin to take my husband to see the Green Bay Packers for a Christmas present. We received notice from our airline that the flight was canceled due to inclement weather and no flights going out. I called the hotel because we couldn't get there.  I was told nothing could be done because I did the pre-pay on my credit card.   The Manager there (Brian Kaufmann) told me they would just sit there empty....would not refund, would not transfer them to a different hotel that we could use around here or something....not any help whatsoever. Then got on customer chat, the person was nice but could not help, gave me # to guest relations.   I was told the same thing.   So basically I could not get refunded my money, those rooms would sit empty.  What business logic is that?   My money could have been refunded and they could have been rented for what they were currently asking - which was DOUBLE what I paid So I'm sitting her out .$386.93 through no fault of my own.  $386.93 might not sound like a lot to some people, but to me its a LOT! I just wanted to let you know how disappointed I was in the service and attitude I received.  We travel and our friends do too, but I can assure you we will not be using this chain again and I will let my friends and family know about the service I received.   That when unforeseen circumstances happen, the company doesn't care. read more
