We stayed for four days , visiting our son and kids for the Fourth of July. The old hotel is pretty run down . The chair and ottoman has oil on them from boots and greasy hands . We had pre booked and paid with some of our loyalty points . They texted me every day telling us we needed to check in for our up coming stay . Then when we left to visit our kids ... they would lock us out of our room . So when we got back from our kids we would have to go to our room ( key won't work ) back on the filthy elevator to get an updated key . What a pain in the rear . The rooms need some updating and deep cleaning . We had to have maintenance come with a tool and he pulled a good 12 inches of hair from the drain , so the tub could drain . Sorry but I have to vent about being locked out of our room every day . read more

This was a great hotel and a wonderful stay during our time in Appleton! The front desk staff are all super-friendly and very helpful! Extra shout-out to Lisa, who provided us with amazing recommendations for food and transportation to/from the Packers game! It's a Hilton, so you might already have an expectation based on past experience. Temper this with being in Appleton and it's still living up the reputation. A few minor cons... * We were in the South tower (I think??), and they only have one elevator, which is fairly slow and small. * The escalator up to the parking garage stopped working on our checkout day, so we had to haul our luggage up the steps. (If there was an alternative/elevator nearby, there was no signage indicating this). * The parking facility is across the street from the hotel, which made things a bit confusing. (It wasn't too expensive, though, and it was pretty simple to get in and out). * One of the bars/restaurants looked to be closed the entire time we were there, but again... no signage. All that being said, though, there are huge benefits to staying here! * Super-clean rooms! * Very comfortable living space and beds! * Nice modern design without being pretentious or posh! * Amazing staff!! * A Starbucks on the lobby level near the front desk! * Peak location in downtown Appleton near several bars, restaurants, attractions, and Lawrence University! * Several options in the hotel itself for lounges/restaurants! Really good experience with the recently renovated Hilton Appleton Paper Valley. Hilton has done a nice job restoring some of the former glory of the old Paper Valley Hotel after years of neglect under prior management. My guest room was clean and well appointed with modern furnishings. Impeccably cleaned. Friendly staff throughout - from check in to housekeeping. Lombardi's Steakhouse and the Clubhouse bar on-site with cheap parking available via the connected ramp. Pool area and gym could use a little love but they are serviceable. read more

I'd like to start by saying minus the GM, the staff was all great. Our stay was great. It the third year or family picked this hotel for our gathering. It is highly unlikely we will ever stay here again. I was using the online chat feature talking to the front desk about ensuring our families rooms would be in close proximity to each other. The front desk employee informed me that the hotel was sold out and they were working on it. I left my personal phone number if it would be easier to continue the conversation in person. When my phone rang I answered to the GM of the hotel screaming at me. I had to ask him Repeatedly to calm down. He didn't. He continued to berate me telling me the hotel was full. When I said I realized that, and that we had made prior arrangements to have rooms close he stated yelling again. I had to then ask him to stop talking to me that way. I understand everyone has a bad day, but he was having a temper tantrum like a child. There's is absolutely no way that man should be the GM of anything, let alone a nice hotel. After the online chat was resumed and I mentioned way the man was talking to me. I went to screenshot the conversation and anything I had said about the interaction had been conveniently deleted. DO NOT BOOK A WEDDING BLOCK HERE. My wedding is upcoming in June 2025. I called in May 2024 to set up a room block for our guests that were coming in from out of town, right before I booked our venue that is right down the block. They asked how many rooms I wanted and I said in between 40 and 50. I was told that there is always a possibility to book more if needed, but we could start there. They let me know that this "block" was complimentary and confirmed my wedding block reservation via email and sent the link for my guests to book. I tested the link by having two groups of family members book their stay in advance. Everything worked fine. Fast forward to January of 2025, I start sending the link to extended family members who were coming to our wedding from out of town. All of a sudden, the link stops working. I contact Dianne (who was "helping" us with the process) and let her know the link was previously working but had stopped. She sent me a new link. When I went to see if it worked, the site said that there were no more rooms available for that day. Weird, since I thought we had agreed to put 40 aside and then add more if needed. I speak with Dianne on the phone, who then tells me that she can't see any reservations in the system. How are you supposed to be in charge of room blocks if you can't even see the damn reservation schedule?! I go in to the hotel to speak with a manager and see what is going on since none of my guests are able to book and no rooms are available. As it turns out, there was a 330 room reservation that day that was *supposedly* booked in December 2023. There weren't even 50 rooms left when I called to check the date in May. They promised me rooms that they had already booked out. I am finding this out in January, and my wedding is in June. They claim they never promised me any rooms, despite setting up a room block for us. They have not done anything to solve this problem and have told us that there is nothing they can do. I called before even booking my venue, over a year in advance. If I would have know that there were no rooms available that weekend, I would have booked it for another weekend. They do not know the definition of a room block, and those rooms are not guaranteed. DO NOT BOOK A WEDDING BLOCK HERE, AS IT IS NOT REALLY A BLOCK. JUST A SLIGHT DISCOUNT. read more

Unfortunately the heat in my room did not work, which evidently is a common (and known) problem. We are one week shy of November so this is a bit unreasonable. I asked about the heating system at check-in because a colleague warned me about this exact issue after a recent visit; the gentleman at the front desk assured me the tower I was in -- the one closest to the lobby -- was not impacted. I requested a wake up call, but did not receive one. In fairness I am giving more than one star because the bed was comfy, shower had great water pressure and temp control and the room's layout/design was sensible. Maybe the best thing this place has going for it is it's location. Downtown, walkable to the PAC, shopping, tons of bars and restaurants, and close to Lawrence University. This place has been around for a long time and has changed names a few times in recent years. The Hilton management has been working to improve the location for a while. They have done an nice job of updating the guest rooms but apparently can't do anything about the tiny kid sized toilet because a bigger one wouldn't fit (the bathroom door would hit it). It does make me laugh because (I'm not sure if it's still true but) the visiting NFL teams have stayed here when they are playing the Packers... and I can't imagine those 350 linemen using those toilets! Otherwise the room upgrades are pretty nice. There is a nice pool, hot tub and sauna (not all working right now) and it has 3 restaurant/bars within the complex. Parking is across the street in a ramp. Cost me $5. Nice to see they are improving this one-time awesome property. Hope they bring it back to the good old years of the Paper Valley. read more

Oh this is fucking ridiculous. Blood stained sheets. Lift up the sheet to find blood stained MATTRESS PAD which tells me they do not change the sheets. Absolutely disgusting as one tree is part of "Hilton". Call front desk, lady comes up says she's not changing the sheet we can do it and states it's gross. So disgusting and disappointing. Shower is dirty. Bathroom light switch has grime on it maybe a booger? Shower has nasty shit on it. Not cleaned either. Bathroom door looks like it has vomit chunks on it. I am shocked this is branded a Hilton property. Decidedly unfriendly staff, room smells like cigarette smoke, hard to figure out how to get into the hotel--no one to help with luggage or direct us around upon arrival, piles of snow at the curb/entrance which made navigating luggage challenging. Went to the front desk upon arrival with my two kids in tow and presented my driver's license and credit card explaining I had checked in a the app...was interrupted with, "So why are you here, then?..." waiving off my license and credit card. Explained I was trying to understand the parking situation--front desk person vaguely motioned around and mentioned a car ramp, I asked if there was a procedure for hotel guests--she said 'you just pay.' I asked about room keys--response, don't you have a digital key? Seemed put out when I asked for a couple of keys. Had hoped to get recommendations for dinner, that clearly wasn't happening. Took the kids to get settled in the room and then went to deal with the car. On my way out, saw an area that appeared to be set for breakfast--texted via the app to inquire about breakfast. Got a response that there was breakfast and as a Hilton Diamond member (first acknowledgement of my Hilton status), I would get a $15 credit. I'm actually entitled to the credit for me and a guest. I responded I assume that is x2 and was told I would need to add a name to the reservation. Ok--I was just at the front desk five minutes earlier with my two kids in tow. Perhaps that was the time to offer to add a name to the reservation to get my full property credit? Maybe that would be a reason for me to be stopping in at the front desk upon arrival? The only other time I have had a similarly awful Hilton experience was in Austin TX after the city took over the hotel associated with the convention center. Awful. Will never stay here again and have much less interest in our visit to Lawrence University tomorrow. read more

We come to Appleton regularly, but our preferred hotel was booked solid this weekend, so my husband booked here. Never again. Check in took a lot of time, but whatever, everyone is short staffed, we get it. We take the elevator to our floor, and the signs literally don't include our room. We're just supposed to randomly imagine where to go, and our room number doesn't match with anything close to what is posted. After a bunch of hunting, we find our room. It's clean. Pretty enough. But we booked it because it's a whirlpool suite. That's my jam. It's why I leave my lovely home. This "suite" not only has only one chair in the whole room, the toilet is 1/2 inch from the tub. There's literally no way anyone can do their business on that toilet. I'd give them a pass about the really bad signage, but who rents a king whirlpool suite for one person? The singular place to sit is such an obvious problem. Then, the fact that the toilet is unusable just makes this place a joke. We usually love Marriott properties, but will never be back here. read more

As a Hilton's Honors Rewards member, I will never stay at another Hilton again. We were booked at this hotel for a family wedding. Little did we know there was a two day festival going on right in front of the hotel and we couldn't even get to the hotel because of street closures. After asking the police we were directed to the parking garage that was under construction and had many parking spots roped off and not usable. Luckily we found a parking spot and had to drag all our luggage from the garage up stairs because the escalators were blocked off. I had my 84 years old mother with me. Once in the room we discovered that the sink was not draining properly. They came to try and fix it the next morning and while it was working better it was not fixed and we were told they can't fix it until Monday. We could not be switched to another room because they were fully booked. On Saturday morning we were presented with a heavy metal rock bands outside our window for the festival that was so loud the window was loudly vibrating. I had to help my cousin with her handicapped and elderly parents who had booked a handicapped room which the hotel never provided as they didn't have any, but originally promised they would have a handicap room. My aunt could not go into the bathroom as they were too small. My cousin had to take her downstairs and find a handicap bathroom. When they were finally directed to the right bathroom the handicap stall had no toilet which is illegal not to provide facilities for handicapped people. Hilton comped all my family's rooms but won't comp mine and all they did was give me more points. I told them I will not be using the points nor ever staying at any of their hotels again. My goal is to make sure everyone knows how bad of a hotel and company they are to their guests. read more

We were in town for Oktoberfest and had a very nice stay. Their main elevator was out of order for the whole time we were there. Made things a little more difficult for those unable/uncomfortable with the stairs. For those with large or several bags, the wait for the elevator at checkout was frustrating. read more

Stayed here a few months ago and was impressed. I wasn't sure what to expect since this was the former Radisson. You do have to park in the garage connected via walkway to the side of the building, but it wasn't a bad walk. The sports bar had decent food, service across the facility was good, and and rooms were clean. Next time I'll have to try to Steakhouse but there is plenty to eat within walking distance or just a short drive away. read more

No working computer and printer for business clients to even print out plane tickets. They replaced all the ironing boards and irons with dollar store steamers. They used to put a bottle of water in the room for business clients now we get the crappy tasting tap water. My company rents over 100 rooms a year and it looks like we're going across the street to the copper leaf moving forward after using this facility for 20 years. When finally given a room we were received with a phone call from the front desk asking why we were in the room they just gave us a card to.. the heat/air also didn't work for the 3 days we were there. We actually had a great night and the rooms were clean. But....tub handle fell off and there was no body wash in the shower. Come the morning, housekeeping knocked on our door at 8am. Last time I check, checkout was at 11am. I was going to call down to the desk at that point for a late checkout, but our room phone didn't work. Front desk gave me a 12:30 check out, which was great because I remained awake as housekeeping proceeded to yell down the hallway at each other. Then, was woken up again at 11am by housekeeping. I yelled "I have until 12:30, ask the front desk". The communication between departments is much to be desired. Honestly....the only good part was the sex. read more
