The hotel itself is connected to nearby St. Norbert College, a well-known Catholic liberal arts college that gives much of De Pere its warm, intellectual, small-town atmosphere. The inn was developed in partnership with the college and carries a quiet elegance that fits the area beautifully. Located not far from the Fox River, the surrounding area has lovely walking paths, historic architecture, and that peaceful river-town feeling that made my husband and I immediately slow down and appreciate where we were. We had never visited this part of the country before and were simply passing through the De Pere area during a road trip. We had heard good things about both the town and the Kress Inn, so we decided to stay here while exploring northeastern Wisconsin. And honestly, it turned out to be a wonderful choice. The hotel has a sort of old-world elegance to it that we found very charming. Rich dark woods, classic furnishings, warm lighting, and traditional styling gave the inn a refined atmosphere without feeling stuffy or pretentious. At the same time, the modern amenities were all there, so the experience still felt comfortable and convenient rather than dated. Our room was clean, quiet, and comfortable, and everything worked exactly as it should. The reception staff were welcoming and efficient, and the entire stay felt smooth and relaxing from beginning to end. One thing we especially appreciated was the location. The Kress Inn made an excellent launching point for sightseeing throughout the area during our road trip. The surrounding town itself was surprisingly lovely with beautiful streets, river views, and a peaceful atmosphere that made us wish we had a little more time to linger. Sometimes when traveling through unfamiliar places, you stumble upon towns and hotels that simply feel pleasant and easy to be in. That was very much our experience here.

This place has a Bed & Breakfast vibe. Breakfast was good, they'll make an omelette for you, but the breakfast hours are only 7-9am. It's weird they don't have someone working 24/7 like usual hotels. There's also no ice machine. You have to go to the bar and ask. The bar is nice. Lots of regulars so it's been busy. The place is right on the water and within walking distance to some restaurants and shopping. It's also smack dab in the middle of the farmer's market. It's a little 'old' but the vibes and character are cool. The stained glass windows in the restaurant are awesome. Restaurant was just OK. Both of our meals (my husband and I) were fine. We don't plan to eat there again. Thanks for a nice stay from us Nebraskans!

I am able to give a review of both the hotel and the restaurant after staying for a couple of days…read more First, the hotel portion was very nice. The rooms are not real big; but plenty of room for one to two people. There is a whirlpool tub, a large, walk-in shower, a couple of nightstands, and a desk. There is only one chair in the room, and no refrigerator. Ice is available from the bartender. Breakfast is included with your stay, and there is an omelette station and assorted breads and cereal. I ate in the restaurant one evening, sitting at the bar. The bartender was very busy, but service was good and the food was excellent. I had a burger with fries and everything was very tasty, fresh, and hot. The bar and restaurant seemed to attract a local crowd as well as the patrons of the hotel. I definitely recommend both a hotel and the restaurant. The hotel was very reasonably priced and worked great for what I needed.

Typical hotel bathroom. Also there are plenty of things to do within walking distance and a 1000 things within a short drive. 10 minutes from Lambeau field. A nice little pantry with plenty of options. The front desk staff are certainly not over friendly. That being said they are severely understaffed. It's almost like like front desk is doing 6 jobs. Restaurant was annoyingly closed during our 3 night stay. Weird considering the largest airshow in the world is just 60 miles south in Oshkosh. We would probably stay in this hotel again mainly because of proximity. Not great. Not bad.

Might again be a staffing issue, as we asked the front desk person about this, and he later said that he forgot to do this (suggesting he had to do this himself) - common spaces are too cool - pool is small but usable - rooms are spartan but clean and have functional refrigerator
