Tucked into the charming historic town of De Pere, Wisconsin, the Kress Inn is one of those places…read morethat feels tied deeply to the character and history of the community around it. The hotel itself is connected to nearby St. Norbert College, a well-known Catholic liberal arts college that gives much of De Pere its warm, intellectual, small-town atmosphere. The inn was developed in partnership with the college and carries a quiet elegance that fits the area beautifully. Located not far from the Fox River, the surrounding area has lovely walking paths, historic architecture, and that peaceful river-town feeling that made my husband and I immediately slow down and appreciate where we were. We had never visited this part of the country before and were simply passing through the De Pere area during a road trip. We had heard good things about both the town and the Kress Inn, so we decided to stay here while exploring northeastern Wisconsin. And honestly, it turned out to be a wonderful choice. The hotel has a sort of old-world elegance to it that we found very charming. Rich dark woods, classic furnishings, warm lighting, and traditional styling gave the inn a refined atmosphere without feeling stuffy or pretentious. At the same time, the modern amenities were all there, so the experience still felt comfortable and convenient rather than dated. Our room was clean, quiet, and comfortable, and everything worked exactly as it should. The reception staff were welcoming and efficient, and the entire stay felt smooth and relaxing from beginning to end. One thing we especially appreciated was the location. The Kress Inn made an excellent launching point for sightseeing throughout the area during our road trip. The surrounding town itself was surprisingly lovely with beautiful streets, river views, and a peaceful atmosphere that made us wish we had a little more time to linger. Sometimes when traveling through unfamiliar places, you stumble upon towns and hotels that simply feel pleasant and easy to be in. That was very much our experience here.

Wonderful hotel across from Lambeau Field. Free shuttle to/from the airport which comes in handy…read morewith the limited transpo options in GB. Very kind, friendly staff. They make cheeseheads proud. Very comfortable room, desk, and most importantly the bed. And the shower!!! Leave it to a plumbing fixture company but this has to be one of the best showers in a hotel that I've ever experienced. Three shower heads, touch controls that are especially handy when adjusting temperature. Great sales tactic! And not to forget, the delicious chocolates awaiting you in your room. Delicious!

Overall had a nice time but expected much more considering I paid $1500/night (this was a peak…read morefootball weekend). Shower fixtures were nice but there wasn't a bath and the shower curtain seemed cheap, like something you might find in a health club. Bed was a little too firm for me, and I have a preference for firm mattresses. I woke up with a sore back 2 out of the 3 nights I stayed there. We tried to order room service as directed on the TV but the link didn't work, and evidently we had to call down to the front desk to order room service. Front desk directed us to the Tavern in the Sky restaurant to place the order, which we did. 80 mins later with no food delivered, we called back to check the status of the order, and the hostess claimed there was no record of our order. Disappointing - I don't know of any hotels charging over $1,000/night who don't have an easy process for room service ordering. Finally, couldn't get a shuttle to the airport when we checked out. I asked one of the valet gentlemen for help / inquiring if the shuttle was available, since there was evidently no pre-set shuttle schedule. He told me, "just give me one minute" and seemed flustered. Unfortunately my wife and I didn't have the luxury of waiting all day and had to order an Uber so that we could catch our flight out of Green Bay. Just disappointing - the people are all very nice, it's evident they just aren't fully equipped or accustomed to running at full speed or the full capacity entailed in a high profile football weekend.
