What a great hotel! Amidst this pandemic, the staff was courteous, they managed Covid safety measures well, and maintained a high level of cleanliness to my satisfaction throughout the stay. This hotel sits right on the riverfront and that's perfect. There are new apartments next door, a coffee shop and a restaurant at the base of those apartments, a walking trail on the opposite side of the hotel, and it is close to downtown Appleton where there are lots of bars, restaurants, and cool places to visit. However, here is a bar at the hotel and I believe there is a limited menu served certain hours. My room had a fridge, contemporary design, and a SMART TV! With FREE SHOWTIME!! I'm in love. I highly recommend this hotel because of everything aforementioned, and it's the closest one to all of the action. read more

We've been staying here for 5-6 years. We used to love this hotel- but things have gone wayyy downhill. When we got there, our bathroom sink was clogged. We had no hot water. When I told the desk clerk- he said 25 people had just taken a shower and maybe try at a different time. I tried at all different times but the shower was lukewarm AT BEST. Not enjoyable. It was never fixed so we took cold showers for 5 days. Also the shower water backed up and I personally had to remove the grate and scrape a wad of hair and grossness with a coffee stirrer. And the soap bottle was not refilled so we ran out, and i had to go to the desk again. Lastly they short sheet the beds. Not happy. read more

I travel the world and almost always stay a Marriott properties. I traveled to Appleton for the first time ever, and highly regret booking the Courtyard here. What a major disappointment. Best to sleep in your car in a grocery store parking lot. read more

The room I stayed in was beautiful. It was clean and organized and had a very modern look to it. The lobby is beautiful along with the view of the lake. There's a breakfast and dinner place near by as well if you need or want it. read more

First I have to say this hotel is in a beautiful location. Close to the airport with an excellent view! We were able to get a bottle of wine and sit outside to just enjoy the river. The room was clean as expected. But what was frustrating was the person that designed the bathrooms! You got one shower panel in the shower which caused water to spill on the floor (slip hazard) and a sink faucet that was too short. The sink gave you about an inch space to use the water before it would spill over the countertop. The barrista at the lobby Starbucks also laughed at me when I ordered a white chocolate americano with cream. He pointed to the short menu and said this is all he knows, "we are not a full Starbucks". Americanos were on the list, all he had to do is add white chocolate and cream. read more

I am surprised to see 2 other 1 star reviews, since my experience of a 1 night stay was nothing short of excellent! It was a slower night when I checked in and chatted with the Asst Manager. He gave me a corner room hat had a view of the river. The hotel is located right on the Fox Valley River. This is a brand new hotel and the design is representation of future new construction Courtyards. Everything from the lobby and the room was not just new but the look, feel and design was fresh, warm and trendy. I wish I had taken pics of the room. In the morning, I had breakfast downstairs at the Bistro and my cappuccino and my egg white frittata was prepared with attention to detail, and was presented beautifully. I am already looking forward to my next stay at the end of the month. read more

We've stayed at this hotel numerous times over the last few years. The location is superb. That's the only positive thing I can say about the place. The Courtyard brand is not high on the Marriot quality list, and it shows. Our last visit was during a cold, snowy period. After visiting family, we wanted to relax in the room. We tried to watch the free Showtime but it rarely would load. The streaming was a no go or extremely slow. With Netflix we were able to watch about 2 minutes before the buffering symbol appeared. When I called the front desk they gave me two telephone numbers to call. Since when does the customer have to call and attempt to fix their problem? I sucked it up, called, was put on hold for a while before a tech answered. The result of the call didn't fix anything. The next morning I mentioned it to the front desk clerk. His reaction was, that's way above my pay scale. When I mentioned to him that we have previously stayed in other rooms and had similar problems he accused me of not knowing how to use a TV. What an A##. That angered me and I let him know we are frequent Marriot users and don't have this problem in other hotels. I walked out of the hotel rather than escalate the craziness. I let it go for a day and when I saw a different front desk clerk I mentioned it to him. He kindly said he would help but called the room and said his manager knows we complained so an electrician will be up the next day. Sadly no electrician appeared and we were unable to watch their free Showtime or stream Netflix. I realize that not being able to stream TV shows is fairly minor but it is an advertised service. I also know this is not a problem caused by me. There is no reason a customer should have to call for outside service and no reason a problem should go on unresolved for 5 days. I suggest that unless you just need a place to sleep that you look elsewhere. It's not worth the trouble getting the run around and being berated by staff. I've had great luck at the Fairfield Inn near the mall. It's clean and staff is friendly. Stay away from the Courtyard. read more

Very clean, quiet hotel with a great balcony overlooking the river. This is definitely one of the better hotels in the Appelton and I will stay here again the next time I'm in the area. I had a very early flight and was leaving the hotel at 4:15 AM. Christina, the young woman working the front desk went Above and beyond to make me a cup of coffee before my Uber arrived! I'm close to giving this a 5 star review... but i just cant. The courtyard appears to be pretty new and is vey clean. The employees i encountered were friendly and got me where i needed to be quickly. The bistro has the normal courtyard stuff along with some alcohol choices. The food isn't ever amazing, but it gets the job done, average. Again - friendly staff, clean rooms and a decent location overall. The downside is the location.. there isn't much around it, so be prepared to drive for dinner and such. It's along a river, which gives you a decent view if you have a river side room. read more

VERY surprised to see the negative reviews on this hotel. No need to "run as fast as you can"...unless it's to this hotel for a pleasant stay. I've been visiting Appleton regularly for about 8yrs and had only the Fairfield Inn or the Residence Inn as Marriott options. Both of those properties are in serious need of updating. The new Courtyard that opened a few months ago is long overdue! This place is sleek and modern (not NY modern, but modern nonetheless). It's right on the river, which is really nice, but it's tucked away in a bit of an odd location (behind a residential area) that's a bit tricky to get to. Use your GPS, and you'll be fine. Despite another Yelper saying that this hotel isn't near anything, you're only about a 5 minute drive from just about everything you could possibly need. If you want something more convenient than that, stay downtown (yeah, that's 5 minutes away too!). The rooms are what you'd expect from Marriott...just with a modern twist. The bathrooms are where they shine. They've done a really nice job there. There are a couple of issues, however, that you'll want to take note of. I understand the look they were going for, but the opening for the shower (with no door) is way too large, which means you end up getting water ALL OVER the floor (even after adjusting the shower head). Use the bath mat they give you. It will be soaked, but it helps keep the clean-up to a minimum. The other issue is that the sink faucet was installed too far from the bowl (in my room anyway), which means you'll be washing your hands up against the side of the bowl rather than out in the open where it feels natural. The shower door feels like the bigger miss for sure. First world problems, though, right?! The TV in the room is a nice touch. It's installed on a fully movable mount that pulls out from the wall (a good 14-18") and tilts left and right to a great degree. The mount is brand new, so it's a little stiff to use, but over time, they'll get easier. And like all of the newer Marriotts, you get access to Netflix and other services provided you already have an account with them. It's nice to be able to sign in and binge watch a few shows at night while you're away on business. The Courtyard is a great addition to the Appleton area. I'll be back frequently. read more

I was blown away when I walked into this brand new hotel. The lobby is so fun with a bar and full menu. The rooms are huge with tons of space, big bathrooms, couches, two tvs and more. Service was incredible and they always checked in on us. Also this view is to die for. Nothing could be better than sitting on the patio in the mornings reading a book. Or take a nice stroll along the river! read more

Our family stayed here for a funeral that we had in town. After the service it was late so the whole family went to Toms drive through to bring back to the hotel to eat. As soon as we walked in with our food bags, we went to sit down at the tables in the lobby and were immediately told we were not allowed to bring food in. We explained it was late and had just got back from a funeral and politely asked if they would make an exception and they refused. We calmly asked if they could call their manager and they also refused. Then the bartender literally called the cops on us! For bringing in fast-food!! We were shocked. (And I'm not leaving any details out of the story, it escalated to calling cops after we asked them to call the manager) Our entire family ended up eating our burgers squeezed into our tiny room instead of the lobby (and there was not a single other person in the lobby), and they made our niece cry. It was so unprofessional and horrible hospitality. read more

The restaurant located within the building, called the Bistro, was typical Courtyard fare. The only complaint was that I could easily hear the footsteps of the guest in the room above me. read more

Comfortable rooms. The outdoor patio is a nice place to hang out. Relaxing to sit by the river and by the fire at night. However, I don't recommend having breakfast at the hotel, especially if you are crunched for time. There's not enough staff (the same person was making drinks and taking orders) and the line to order was long and very slow. We ordered a bagel and the continental breakfast and it took 30 minutes from getting in line to getting the food. read more

Continental breakfast sucked. Frozen food just heated up. You make your own waffles here. Rooms weren't bad. Bar obviously doesn't cut people off when they should as you'll see sloppy drunks hanging out by the pool with children nearby. An employee who seemed like the manager is terrified of black people as he nervously asked me who I was and where I was staying after I stepped out of my room to use my phone without bothering my friends. They lost our reservations for a recent stay during a tradeshow and had overbooked the hotel. So after a long day on the tradeshow floor, we were given rooms at a different, out of the way hotel. They did pay for them, but the tremendous inconvenience means we will never book here again. read more
