The hotdog I had was amazing and then I got a coffee and a hot fudge sundae and that was amazing too. The only downside is it's A couple block walk from the baseball Hall of Fame which is fine. All in all I would come back. It's a good place for single people and couples alike. read more

They had fantastic grilled cheese and AMAZING chocolate milk. My friend got the BLT and she thought it was very good and thought the optional mayonnaise added a good cold touch to it. The French fries were the best fries I've ever had. Would go again and highly recommend it to others. read more

My girls and I ate here for breakfast. They had the Belgium waffle with blueberries and whipped cream, I had eggs with bacon and fruit.

Bring back the Chocolate Pecan Pie! When we are in Cooperstown, we always head to Double Day for dinner. It isn't a large place so it can get crowded quickly, especially on the summer weekends. I have had their salads, burgers, and quesadillas, and they have always been tasteful and fresh. Service is sometimes slow and inattentive (drink refills in a timely fashion doesn't always happen), but always courteous. read more

We came for breakfast. Small, basic place friendly service. Strict rules on having entire party there and no holding tables. Lots of specials on food. Food was just ok. Doubleday Cafe is a decent restaurant in a pinch. We came on a cold day looking for some soup and it was definitely delicious. The wait staff, however, were not very friendly and it took a long time to really get our food. Most of the items on the menu are way overpriced. I would not spend 18$ on a chicken Parmesan dinner at this place, probably wouldn't spend that much at an Italian restaurant either. Doubleday Cafe is GREAT!! I spent the weekend in Cooperstown New York. On my first day I was desperately looking for a place to eat that wasn't too expensive but had good food. I hit the jackpot with Doubleday Cafe. It was a little crowded when I first came in so I sat at the bar. It was a great idea! Jerry was the bartender that day and she was friendly and very helpful in learning about other places to visit in the area. I opted for the spinach salad which was a large, and extremely delicious. The atmosphere is friendly and homey and, of course, they show multiple screens of sports... mostly baseball. I liked it so much I came back the next day for breakfast. This morning I chose the waffle which is as big as a plate with the New York real maple syrup. It was yummy! As I said before, the portion sizes are very generous. If you get the chance to go to Cooperstown to visit the Baseball Hall of Fame, you must stop at the Doubleday Cafe for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Do yourself a favor and don't miss it! read more

Who wants lunch at 11:00 in the Sunday morning? Ok on a weekday but it really sucks for one of the only places in Cooperstown to get breakfast on a weekend. And, they weren't even nice about it!! Good, unpretentious place for a (veg or cow) burger & fries with some good local beer on the side. They have a popcorn machine in lieu of bread for an appetizer, which I think is great. (And the waitstaff don't seem to mind if your table refills the popcorn bowl three times!) Doubleday can be noisy between the TVs and the baseball kids, but it's possible to carry on a conversation, particularly if you sit near the doors. Those quieter seats are rather chilly in the winter though, as the glass isn't very well-insulated. read more

Their special: 12 ounce NYC strip wasn't cooked to perfection, but it was cooked to where I had a satisfied meal. Good place to watch the games on Sunday. They serve Ommegang on tap which was a huge bonus for us. Staff are super friendly. Husband had the bacon cheeseburger said it was good. I had the veggie burger and thought it was excellent. Cole slaw was good too. Not too soupy, not to crunchy. Only gripe would be the barstools are super uncomfortable after a while. This is a great little diner in Cooperstown! We stopped in for dinner around 7:30 on a Saturday night over Labor Day weekend. We were seated immediately, and before we could open our menu the waitress was there to take our drink orders! Service was fast and extremely friendly, and of course they had baseball games on every tv! The food was also very delicious......I would highly recommend the French onion soup. This is quite a fun place a few short steps from the baseball hall of fame. I was adventurous and had the liverwurst sandwich special. It was like my mom used to pack in my school lunches only much larger on toast with LTM and cheese. It was quite good. The potato salad it came with was okay, and my Manhattan Clam Chowder was forgettable. I would recommend this place for a nice lunch, but would stick with the basics. read more

I came here for breakfast one morning, and while the food was good, the service was horrible! Our server started off nice enough, but as the meal progressed, she became less friendly and was downright surly by the time we left. I ate here with my husband and my sister, and we asked another server who was clearing our plates to tell our server that we would like to split the bill on two checks, my husband and I on one, and my sister on another. She said okay, and took our plates to the kitchen. What our server clearly didn't realize was that because of where my husband was sitting, he could see very clearly into the kitchen. So he saw the other server tell our server our request, and then he saw our server roll her eyes like a moody teenager, and pull a single check for our table. She then brought our check to our table, as if she had never heard that we had asked for our check to be split. Not knowing that my husband had witnessed her conversation with the other server, I politely asked our server if she could split our bill. She then got her face very close to mine and said "Just so you know, if you EVER come back here again, you need to tell us that you want separate checks before you order." First of all, I came here to eat a delicious breakfast, not to be scolded, and for a server to get in my face is completely unacceptable. Secondly, I don't know if this is some regional thing, but I've NEVER had to request separate checks before I order. Quite honestly, most of the time if a server sees a table with more than two adults eating, they typically ask how we would like the check to be split! In any case, I've never been so humiliated in my life. Our server said that she would split our bill anyway, but when she brought out our bill, she actually didn't split it at all. At this point, we just wanted to get out of there, so my husband and I wound up just paying for my sister. When our server brought back the check after she ran our card, she actually said to us, "You need to sign this and leave." No "Thanks for coming," no "Come back again!" Usually servers tend to butter you up a bit right before you determine how much of a tip you're going to give them, but this server in particular became more rude! Even if your food is outstanding, the taste of the entire meal can be tainted by aggressively rude service. Needless to say, even if I happen to be in the area again in the future, I'm never returning! read more

Been here a few times, always in the "off" season, so we can't speak to the summer months when things are overly crowded and busy. We have always enjoyed the "pub" style food. Service is always attentive and provided "with a smile". Portions are large, and the beer selection is inviting. Prices are reasonable. We've done burgers and hot dogs, fish & chips, the Mexican dishes, etc., and they have all been good. Not setting any gourmet standards, but hey, that's not what you come here for.... hearty food and cold brew. read more
