    The $19 brisket sandwich
    Alyssa R.

My friend came here for her birthday and I wish I could erase this place from her memory. The brisket was disgusting. Like all fatty. We are both servers and are always super polite when we got out. She was sending me pictures. The "manager" on duty was super rude and unhelpful. Had to call her manager when asked to take off atleast one of the disgusting dishes but was super rude about it. Gave an attitude when dropping off the check and my friend called me crying after she left cause she was treated so badly on her birthday. This place should be shut down for the rudeness alone, not even taking into account the disgusting food. The owner did call her but talked over her the entire time and even asked her age (in her 40's) before saying that it's cause the girl is from a younger generation. The girl was a grown woman, in her 30's. He was all full of excuses and clearly needs to learn how to actually manage his business.

Smoked salmon with baked potato, cornbread and cole slaw.

Dined here a few days ago. The decor inside was nice and the place is much bigger inside than how it looks from the outside. We were seated very quickly. I ordered the smoked salmon with baked potatoe cornbread and cole slaw. My companion had a burger with fries. I was told the burger was good as were the fries. The salmon was cooked good, the cornbread was ok the cole slaw was terrible and the baked potato was ok (it's just a baked potato). The cole slaw: It tasted like it had way too much vinegar or was way past its due date. It looked good and home made and I wanted to like it but I could not eat more than two bites. I did mention it to the waitress and was offered a different side dish but I was not very hungry and just wanted to let the kitchen know. The waitress did tell me she has heard that from other patrons as well. I hope the kitchen gets the message. As I mentioned, the rest of my meal was decent. The service was very good and the waitress checked on us often. Overall the food was ok and I may come back and try another dish.

I haven't been here in a while and was hankering for some of their food. As usual, I over ordered and everything was delicious and fantastically done. I did notice a slight change in the chicken since the last visit, but it was even better than before. My server was also the manager, Rachel, and she maintained a sharp lookout on me for anything I might need. She was very personable, friendly, efficient and customer oriented. Since it wasn't too busy, she kept checking and making sure no one else needed anything, and we had some time to chat. Very interesting person. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to others.

First time at this location in Warwick, NY. The other restaurant we visited last year is located in Augusta, NJ. The food at both establishments is really good and the portions are generous. I think the menu's at both places are the same and there's plenty to choose from. The Brisket in the Smoked Cheesesteak sandwich was tender and seasoned perfectly. The pulled pork egg roll appetizer was moist and tender and the sauces really kick up the flavors, the #4 sweet & spicy had the perfect amount of heat but not enough to over power the tastebuds. My wife enjoyed her Brisket Mac & Cheese. I definitely need to come back to sample the ribs.

    Brisket platter.

Quality way down for this restaurant. We were so surprised by the brisket quality. Was going to bring extra home for a friend but couldn't justify spending so much money on subpar brisket. Gave two stars for the nice waitress and good cocktail.

The staff is nice the food not so much! Dry meats weird homemade sauces not very Flavorful or good with anything. Beef Brisket SandwichPork Belly Burnt EndsPulled PorkSmoked Prime Rib just day they tried but was off just like their greasy burgers and dry ribs. Drinks were tinny you may need several to make it threw dinner. Don't think you will see them here for long. Oh waite they took off 10% off food I could not even force myself to eat!

I will keep this one short. My first time here. My last time here. Ordered 1/2 rack ribs. $22.00 The flavor was terrible. I've had ribs in Memphis, Texas, all over. These were hands down the worst I've had. The flavor was off the charts bad. 4 flavors of sauce to choose from. All terrible. Tasted like 4 different variations of vinegar. Came with fries. Typical Cisco fries. Average. Not fresh cut. Nothing memorable. The "Coke" I ordered was watered down Pepsi. Not Coke. And as an added bonus, the "Coke" was $5.00 for a glass. Cornbread tasted like bland frozen reheated cornbread. If my first visit here was any indication of how the rest of the food is, then that's really bad news. Maybe I should have taken notice that there was only one other table occupied here with 2 people at 12:30 in the afternoon on Thursday. Not a good sign. Nice enough looking place and clean but my food was terrible. If they want to stay in business they need to hire someone that knows how to make good barbecue, and knows how to cook good flavorful food. Not coming back.

Pluses: Black owned restaurant serving cultural staples, plus foods for people who don't want Southern. Ambiance featured soul music, and at one point was playing Shaft! I can dig it. You're not left wanting for food quantity or quality. Plenty of shrimp in the grits, for example. Server was very pleasant to talk to with a little Southern twang to her voice. Why not five stars: Flavor needs deepening. For example, in the South I'm used to seeing okra chopped and breaded before being fried. Maybe more oily that way, more carbs... but more flavor as a result. I had the pulled chicken mac, which was a bit smaller of a dish overall (a bit intentional on my part) - and while the cheese flavors run deep, the meat did not. Shrimp and grits, I took a quick sample of my friend's grits and... I bet you can guess my finding there. Still, a very nice change from the usual Northern selection of foods. I would not hesitate to say Sweet T's is authentic and a nice visit if you're in town. You'll be paying a pretty penny wherever you eat, so you can tag this one on your list.

We went on Easter for brunch, which we decided to do last minute and they let us know they could squeeze us in. We sat on the screened in patio. They were massively busy, but the staff was on their toes, checking in, taking away empty plates, being very kind (even though they were clearly crazy with how busy they were). We started with the Brie stuff pretzels. They were more like pretzel sandwiches (pretzel sticks cut in half with Brie in between), but were really tasty. It was all so good, I kept forgetting to take pictures until after we had already dug in. The pretzel app came with 4 pretzel/brie sandwiches. We also got the spinach an artichoke dip. It came with a nice amount of chips (hate when they give you too few and then you're just left with gobs of dip and nothing for it). It also came with salsa and sour cream, which seemed odd, but was nice for the extra chips and also family friendly if the dip didn't appeal to kids. The dip itself was really nice, it didn't taste as rich as spinach and artichoke dips often are. I could really taste the spinach, but in a good way. Usually dips like that make me feel overly full and are so heavy, this was a refreshing take on it. We got the Dutch baby pancake, the kids Mac and cheese, the pimento cheese and ham omelet (which I got scrambled), chicken and waffles, and the hot honey chicken. Overall, the food was delicious. The flavors all had depth and were really satisfying. We came home with lots of leftovers and we were all very happy when the meal was done. We will definitely be going back.

After completing culinary school, Murphy started a Yonkers-based catering company, and later, in 2016, moved north to open a brick and mortar cafe -- Lady K's Southern Comfort. LOCATION: Lady K's Southern Comfort is located in a small strip mall along Violet Avenue/Route 9G. Ample parking is available. CONCEPT: Lady K's offers quintessential southern comfort food, such as rice with pigeon peas and slow cooked savory collard greens, however tastes of other culinary heritages, such as empanadas, are sprinkled across the menu. Lady K's primarily offers dishes that represent home cooked southern meals -- on site, as take out, or custom catered events. SERVICE: One thing that stands out about Lady K's Southern Comfort is the homey feeling. This extends to the service. During my weekend afternoon visit Khalliah and Shawn Murphy's daughter and son were eagerly helping (Little K and Littlest K). Although customers place their orders at the counter, I was still asked whether I liked what I had chosen. My response brought a proud smile to Little K's face! EXPERIENCE: Plates are available in three sizes, with a protein and two choice of sides. I experienced the small fried chicken with collard greens and macaroni and cheese on the side. Khalliah's family were known for their fried chicken recipe in their Bronx neighborhood, so it comes as no surprise that the chicken was expertly executed -- crisp, non-greasy exterior encasing juicy, moist interior at every bite. Complementing this was the collard greens, in which multiple flavors were married and had just the right amount of vinegary flavor. Next time I will ask for double sides of collard greens -- it's that outstanding! While multiple tables are set up for dining, Lady K's is currently primarily set up for take out. Although photos on Yelp suggest there was plated service in the past, all food is now served in compartmented styrofoam take out containers. This was my only disappointment as I feel household plates and utensils would reflect the homey dishes for those who are looking to dine in. TIPS: Check Lady K's Facebook profile for rare temporary changes in daily hours. Kool Aid is one of the beverage options. I have never seen that before in a menu and I think it's available adds to the homey aspect of the meals prepared at offered at Lady K's Southern Comfort. Kool Aid was a staple in homes in my neighborhood, and the cheerfully colored packets of flavoring powders are rarely found in grocery stores today.
