When…read moreI walked up to the front desk in the main studio, the receptionist was looking down at her computer and didn't greet me. I stood there for a moment trying not to interrupt, but when she finally looked up she seemed visibly annoyed, almost like a "what do you want?" expression. I let her know I was there for the Silks class and she told me to go to the building across the parking lot. The interaction felt pretty short and awkward. Aerial Silks is already intimidating if you have no experience, so having this type of first impression really made me question if I even wanted to patron the establishment. That said, the class itself completely turned the experience around. Ashley, our instructor, was fantastic. She was super patient, encouraging, and kind. Aerial silks can be intimidating if you're new, but she made the class fun and approachable. I ended up having a great time and almost forgot about the front desk interaction by the end of it. If the front desk experience had matched the quality of the class, this would easily be a 5-star review. I would definitely come back for Ashley's class, especially now that I know I can go straight to the other building.

Each class has a curriculum of skills to master. Their most popular day is Tuesday, when they offer both salsa and bachata classes for all levels. They also their dance social at 10pm that day. Shoutout to the instructors, especially Hannah, Michael, Morgan, Joseph, Kaitlyn, Marcus, and Favian - they are all fabulous! I would also highly recommend taking private lessons with them to accelerate your learning and get personalized feedback.

I felt welcome and learned slowly from the basic styling to few steps. There was a social dancing after the classes and we stayed there for a while to see other people dance and dance with them on a few songs. These was amazing. My gym memberships and other fitness classes became irrelevant immediately. Monica's dance fitness is my workout of choice, hands down. Monica has a magical way of choreographing dances that (1) are easy to follow, (2) give you a good workout , and (3) make you actually LOOK and FEEL good while following along. It's like a Zumba class... but with music video dancer choreo to contemporary songs you actually WANT to dance to. Every class has a palpable buzz of energy, enthusiam, and community love. This group of gals (and a few guys!) cheer each other on, hype each other up, and support each other outside of the studio. It's a beautiful community and I am so grateful to have found it. My instructors have been incredible and always kind and supportive, and I can't wait to continue dancing with them! It has been a breath of fresh air having small classes at One - 6 to 10 kids - where the teacher can really focus, teach and correct. My daughter looks forward to all her classes - and it is a lot! - but her technique and skill have improved more than I can say! She looks confident and strong on stage. She wants to continue and eventually make it on point. The other students at the studio are wonderful as are the teachers. It really is a very positive and supportive place to dance. The staff was super kind in giving me a tour and ensuring I had everything I needed! The facilities were very clean and the class itself was great. I got a good sweat on and was able to keep up despite being a first-timer. Kudos to a great teacher who set me up for success! Upon the class ending, I was once again greeted and asked how class was. Very few crowds if you arrive right at opening time. I was happy to see there were no lines at all for the slides. They open a half hour early for season pass members; general admission is 11am. Definitely worth checking out for a day of family fun in the hot TX summer!

The pool has strict rules of no food and drinks other than water, but it keeps the place clean and risk free, which is actually appreciated by me. The pool stays between 68°-70°, which is a temperature not too cold on impact, but still super relaxing to hang in. The pool is massive with plenty of people hanging around in all corners. It's a great spot in summer but definitely not a hidden gem. It's an extremely well-known gem. I'm curious how populous it is during peak times, but that random Wednesday afternoon was perfect. Note that there is absolutely no food or drink allowed inside. I think that policy, along with the requirement to pay, is what keeps the area so clean. The water is absolutely freezing and can't be regulated as it's not a pool, but man does it feel nice on a hot Austin day. Must do in Austin.
