Veronica ended up being one of the best pole instructors I've ever experienced. She was so fast to connect to me and my goals and understood instantly my ability and previous experience on the pole and in dance. She then was able to teach the techniques she laid out for me in a way she knew I needed to learn them, and installed the exact concepts and methods she knew I needed for were I wanted to go. Unlike many other experiences with classes and studios, this experience left me feeling like I just walked out with a super charged download of pole skills versus the usual feeling of wasted time and little progress I've felt with other trainings. The studio itself is set up so perfectly too. The whole design and layout of the dance room is really interesting bc it's so warm inviting and elegant yet intimate and professional at the same time. Every little detail of the whole studio is done to perfection. It's hard to say something new about a studio that literally has so many five star reviews to its name, but honestly I would just say that for anyone who wants the hands down best pole dance training of their life needs to set this studio and the incredible Veronica as a priority number one to come and experience for yourself.

For most of the class she was just showing us different moves to do on the pole and then telling us to just put it all together into our own routine. Which when you're starting from ground zero, with no prior pole knowledge, can be difficult. Something i would have appreciated is learning some kind of routine that's more structured since it was a beginner workshop. It would have given the people in the class something to work toward while in the class, then we could have preformed it at the end and taken a video to show off what we learned. Over all the class was fun and the studio was beautiful i just felt like more structure would have been nice for a beginner level class package.

I recently took Jacki's class and while she is a pro, I did not feel awkward and she plays great music to relax you and get you in the mood. When I left her class, I was beyond sore, but in a good way. The sheer amount of upper body strength it takes to move on the pole is insane, but the pain is worth it. They offer classes 7 days week which makes it easy for you to find a class that suits you. I will caution you to book early, as the spots are limited and fill up fast.

April offers several levels of Bellydance study, as well as Hot Pot ITS (improvisational tribal style), which is group improvisation with a shared vocabulary of movement. If you love the feeling of connection that dancing in a group offers, ITS is awesome! Stacy Lizette is also teaching at RMS now, and her classes are also a lot of fun and challenging. The studio also offers dance intensives, yoga, and studio rental time. If you live nearby you should drop by and check this place out!

I repeate, you don't need a partner. While you're learning different steps, you rotate partners every few minutes. See ladies and gentlemen? If you want to learn, you can totally come alone. Now that I've belabored that point, Four on the Floor is a great resource for learning how to swing dance. I'm on my second class, and I'll definitely be back for another!

Erica actually makes sweating fun and funny. The studio is a friendly, accepting atmosphere, and I was overjoyed to see bodies of all sizes getting down. My favorite part of the Richard Simmons-inspired aerobics class was the shake weights. It was very liberating to shake those weights and listen to the instructor's double entendres throughout the class. If you wanna have a good time and make new friends, this is the place. I'm only taking off one star because I did not find a unitard like I wanted and I do not like taking silly family portraits with strangers.

I'm a musician - professional clarinetist - and the rhythmic idea of tap has always appealed to me…read more I was highly active in marching band in high school and have been a marching band music judge for over 17 years including last year's national championship. I started taking tap on a whim about a year ago, and work forced me to switch studios to the weekends, and ended up on Acia's doorstep...a tall, gangly, goofy older guy seriously having trouble balancing on one foot! I studied clarinet at one of the top music schools in the world - Eastman - and was a student of one of the clarinet world legends. Attending Acia's class, I immediately felt in the presence of a legend - greatness, and here I was in a beginning tap class taught by a master: I immediately was compelled to want to address her as "Maestra" as I did when I performed under Leonard Bernstein or Seiji Ozawa. But what struck me the most was that it wasn't just dance: she approaches tap as a "musical instrument" which completely resonates with me, even though I struggle. She talks musician language: pickups, triplets, 16ths, syncopation, and more than that: everything that she demonstrates or has us do is a form of musical notation - I could automatically mentally transcribe everything of hers into sheet music and it ALL makes metric sense. Watching Acia's performance videos also resonate with me as an artist. She is very lyrical and expressive, and I am soooo grateful for the privilege of being in her classes. I hope someday my body starts to catch up with my musical mind! When I was an Eastman student, my clarinet mentor Stanley Hasty used to make us drag our sorry you-know-whats out of bed and attend his reed class on Saturday mornings at 9am. The irony isn't lost on me. Now I attend Acia's tap class on Saturday mornings at 9am, and I am ALWAYS so glad that I went, even though I am covered with sweat by the end - it is a "vigorous" class! Thank you, Acia Gray, for sharing what you do with all of us, and for teaching me a new musical instrument!
