Our drive between Springfield and Joplin, is sorely lacking in fun breakfast locations. We always enjoy a local place and while it doesn't have to serve monster portions, we do need something to get us back on the road for awhile. Enter Double D Cafe. Found on Yelp, we decided to try it Glad we did. The menu is simple, as breakfast should be; all the basics are present. We both had an omelette. They were chucked full of fillings. While toast was offered, a pancake and biscuit with gravy were our choices. Yum-my!! Now, the down side. This is a local place and so it caters to such. There is a smoking room. We are not smokers, so the smell of smoke was noticeable. We sat on the opposite end of the cafe and didn't mind it so much. One last thing; the owner was our server. What a delight! We learned about the area's history, the cafe's history and just history in general!! Not fast food. Good food and great company. read more

We stopped in to have a late breakfast while on a road trip. We were just looking for a kid friendly place with cheap prices, but were very impressed with this place! Everything was absolutely yummy, and we ordered a little bit of everything. Our server was so friendly and very attentive. The Double D Cafe has really good food. If you want to go to a place for the "experiance" or the fancy way it looks, this is not the place to go. If you want to go to a place where you can sit down, get served quickly, and your meal is delicious every time consistantly, this is a good place to go. They have a good lunch and usually a large lunch crowd (mostly the parking lot is full of work trucks). They still manage to get a great meal out to you in a hurry.
